Primary School Offers - When did you get email?

Anyone out there anxiously awaiting primary school offers? I'm more excited than anxious to be fair, but impatiently looking forward to finding out where DS will be going from Sept.

If you have been through this previous years, when did you get the email with the offer? Is it worth staying up till midnight?!

@Icylemontea we are in Bromley too! Bloody hell I was expecting to check on my commute to work. I can’t take the suspense!

TooBusyGazingAtStarss · 15/04/2024 19:11

It feels like I have been waiting YEARS for this. Only saw the school in November! Everything crossed everyone gets their first choices x

HaveADrinkOnMe · 15/04/2024 19:17

Feeling so anxious. Our first choice is out of catchment & massively over subscribed but feeling hopeful for our second choice. I really don't like our catchment school so put it 4th. Just hoping that's enough for us to avoid it.

LeftTheWashingOut · 15/04/2024 19:19

We should be fine for our first choice as we are in catchment and it isn't usually oversubscribed. So I wasn't anxious at all until I saw this thread and now I CAN'T WAIT

No chance I'll be awake at midnight though, so I guess I will wait 😂

outside1inside · 15/04/2024 19:30

1st choice is out of catchment and massively oversubscribed. They usually have 1 form intake but upped it to two this year so no idea if we will get in.

2nd choice is out of catchment but usually under subscribed.

3rd choice is catchment school. DD went here and I really don't want DS to have to go here too.

Hoping to make it to midnight but usually in bed by 10.

abbs1 · 15/04/2024 19:41

I'm super nervous! First child off to school and I'm a complete mess already that he's not got in the school we want that's less than a 5min walk from our house. Last year they had 37 siblings 60 intake so closest child in the category my son is in lived less than 100m from the school. I'm hoping it's not the case this year. I'm setting an alarm for midnight to check. Can't take the suspense 🙈🙈

VivaVivaa · 15/04/2024 19:47

Checking in! @abbs1 our preferred school had a silly number of siblings last year too - 19 out of a class of 30! Last year we would have been about the last house that would have got in on distance alone (we live about 300 metres away) but any other year we would have been fine. It’s quite nerve wracking!

HolyCannoli · 15/04/2024 19:51

Just checked the portal and nothing in Notts yet. Trying to preoccupy myself, I can't believe what a bag of nerves I am!

I really hope you all get what you really wish for for the DCs. Such an exciting time, our little lock down babies are off to school 😭 but that's a whole new thread I guess!

I haven't checked this for any of our choices. Where did you get all the info from? I vaguely remember seeing anything for our catchment school, saying 90 out of 160 applicants got in but can't remember seeing sibling rates etc...

Our first choice is such a lovely little school but the only way we get in is if it's not oversubscribed. But both of our catchment schools (2nd & 3rd choice) get oversubscribed too so who knows how they sort it all out. Also, our 2nd choice is a CoE school which is a massively long shot as we have no connection to the church... agghhhh come on 😅

@HolyCannoli

I know you say you are on tender hooks but please remember that your child will do the best they can anywhere because you care as a parent, seriously, parental involvement is so important. Perhaps a little simplistic but seriously it will be fine! 🤞

This is a lovely perspective, thank you for posting ☺️ As I said before, I think all 4 of our choices could have good potential, but I don't deal well with the not knowing so I think now I'm just winding myself up because of that.

If I don't get my first choice it's going to be a disaster and I'll likely have to quit my job

Oh gosh, I'm so sorry to hear that, now that must be really stressful, bless you. Is there a particular reason why your job would be compromised? Is it location / distance from school?

Good luck everyone, I remember how nervous I was this time last year. I'm west sussex and it was on the portal shortly after midnight.

Namechange13101 · 15/04/2024 20:34

Good luck! We’re central beds and got an email about 8.30am last year, it went to my junk folder though so I didn’t actually see it till around lunchtime 🙄

ChaosAndCuddles · 15/04/2024 20:36

I live in London so I guess I’ll be waiting till 5pm tomorrow 😩

Are you Notts City or County? We're County & I keep refreshing even though I know nothing will be there yet 🤦‍♀️

Doodledoo · 15/04/2024 20:48

This might seem really stupid but maybe some overly anxious mums can relate - does anyone know what the email/online portal looks like when you get your offer? I want to know what to expect and where to look 😂 do you have to click something on the portal that says where you got in? Now I’m typing it out it sounds even more silly 🫣

HolyCannoli · 15/04/2024 20:50

@HaveADrinkOnMe Notts County 😬 I've been refreshing as well and checking email but I need to pack it in really until midnight! Trying to find last years admission data for our choices but I can't seem to find them... #needwine

I see Devon have a note on their Facebook saying they aim to have emails out by 9am.

Charmatt · 15/04/2024 20:52

Nottinghamshire normally show between midnight and 2am. It won't be before that - their portal is set to update at midnight but how long it takes depends on how much data there is.

HolyCannoli · 15/04/2024 20:53

@Doodledoo - that's what mine looks like at the moment on the home page - no idea what it will look like when the offer is made but right now this is what pops up when I click on applications. Good question though!!

I've had a glass already! No more though.
I'm sat in bed on my phone & feel that I should sleep for a bit to make time go faster.

I just can't believe DC is starting school this year tbh.

HaveADrinkOnMe · 15/04/2024 20:55

This is how mine looks too. Still keep thinking I've filled it in wrong. Such a basic but confusing website.

Edit. This was a reply to HoliCannoli's photo but I didn't click reply. I need to go to bed 😂

Oh balls. I'm definitely not staying up till 2am as have an early start and a long day tomorrow. Midnight is doable but not much later than that 🤞🏻🤞🏻 I'm loving all the knowledge & inside info here though, thanks everyone for keeping me company ☺️

Same, last week I was searching for the confirmation email in a panic as I convinced myself we didn't apply 🤣🤣
