Primary School Offers - When did you get email?

Anyone out there anxiously awaiting primary school offers? I'm more excited than anxious to be fair, but impatiently looking forward to finding out where DS will be going from Sept.

If you have been through this previous years, when did you get the email with the offer? Is it worth staying up till midnight?!

I didn't get email or text but logged onto portal and have seen news of first choice

Flubadubba · 16/04/2024 18:03

Congratulations! Seems like a lot of people are getting their first choice!

orangeandorange · 16/04/2024 18:21

Surrey here and still haven't received an email.
I've accepted our first choice place via the portal though.

SmellyNelliey · 16/04/2024 19:36

Still no email here and cannot get on portal think I'll give till tomorrow morning then ring around

LovedFedAndNoonesDead · 17/04/2024 00:58

Email arrived at 8.30 for one twin; couldn’t see anything for other twin then checked junk and it was in there - had been flagged as spam as 2 identical emails arrived at the same time!!

Luckily we got our first choice school, it’s not our closest and it’s oversubscribed for the 2nd year in a row (when all the other local schools are massively undersubscribed - 15/18 pupils in schools with a PAN of 30). All the children from
preschool that applied to the school got in so the children will have a good friendship base come September.

Also found out the next door neighbour of one classmate didn’t get in to the same school which shows just how close it can be for last distance admitted.

Finally got my email!

Anyone that's accepted before do I need to attach all the proofs they suggest you attach to your acceptable email . My email says you just need to email or phone and accept but the guidance says attach all these proofs of address?

PippiLongShockinglyLongWait · 17/04/2024 07:58

Yes husband did it last night. He just took pictures of proofs on his phone.

blueandwhitesquares · 17/04/2024 11:55

@Just12345 proof of what? I thought u only had to accept or decline the offer and then the schools will be in touch directly afterwards?

HolyCannoli · 17/04/2024 12:24

Same, I've not seen any request for proof anywhere, just accept / decline. Now I'm panicking 😅

Just an update for anyone worrying -
I received my email at 7:48am Tuesday morning. Due to moving in December, I had to call the council to change my details and preferred schools. Which meant I had to call again to accept her school place rather than follow a link online.
When I called yesterday morning and spoke to the lady she said 'do not worry, even if you didn't call or follow the link by the given date, the school place does not get taken from you, it is yours to accept or reject.'
So I'm sure those of you that have accepted, are all confirmed and good to go! No need to worry 😊.

P.s if you are worried, just call the council, I got straight through and every time I've called they've been so helpful.

I think that rather depends on area. Here, you get a reminder if you don’t accept within 14 days. After a further 7 days if no reply your place will be given to a child on the wait list (if there is one). So places can be withdrawn.

My friend over the county border though doesn’t have to accept her place, it’s assumed it is accepted unless you actively reject it.

It might be a national offer day but processes do vary considerably. We haven’t been asked for any proofs yet either.

Hoplolly · 17/04/2024 12:59

Our system is auto-accept. You only have to take action if you want to decline.

AprilHolli23 · 17/04/2024 14:14

Sorry... that's Nottinghamshire County Council.

Although, on paper, mine says the same, you have to reply within a certain amount of time. But on the phone they said it doesn't really work like that and they wouldn't just take a place from a child. And I don't know any child that ended up without a school. Buy hey ho.

Flubadubba · 17/04/2024 15:55

W Sussex assume you have accepted unless you say otherwise. It's also on the school here to check addresses etc.

Differs so much!

Anyone else sleep very well last night? 😴

Just12345 · 18/04/2024 09:08

Sorry my email had an attachment with all the proofs of address I had to send and the format I needed to write to accept but it also contradicted the portal which said no action needed!
So strange it varies from county to county
