Hi there,

Just feel it's been very quiet here this year on the 7+ exams and no thread has appeared wrt to those two schools.

Anyone out there also prepping?

Yes! The secrecy! 😂 And when anyone does open up, their child appears to be working at a ridiculously high level!

walkinpark · 08/10/2022 12:32

@ItsRainingTacos79 haha ye

Glassofmerlot · 08/10/2022 14:27

Has anyone taken the Kings exam today? My son couldn’t finish the comprehension on time:(

walkinpark · 08/10/2022 16:19

@Glassofmerlot yes and same here...not got positive feedback in general about how he 'performed' so not too hopeful frankly :/

walkinpark · 08/10/2022 16:21

@Glassofmerlot as in - based on his feedback on the different sections

lzzzz · 08/10/2022 18:04

@Glassofmerlot yes and in general the papers seem quite difficult esp the reasoning which DS mentioned he left out at least 10 questions (not sure how many were there in total!) Also didn't manage to finish the dictation!😓

lzzzz · 08/10/2022 18:05

walkinpark · 07/10/2022 22:37

@ItsRainingTacos79 sorry I checked the email from them again and they have said there will be comprehension as part of the reasoning (so not a separate paper it seems). the registrar did not mention a comprehension paper on the tour FYI.

Thank you@walkinpark for checking. I just found out the email back in May 2022 also mentioned there will be comprehension part of the reasoning.

Wxluuu · 08/10/2022 18:19

DS also said there were a few hard maths questions which he couldn't do. Creative writing was not the usual format of composition. No NVR, and VR had a few tricky questions too. Listening was only read once and very fast. Overall it sounds like a hard exam... harder than expected maybe?

Wxluuu · 08/10/2022 18:22

I'm also wondering how many boys were there this morning as it didn't feel like 300 to us. We were group 14 and the last group I believe.

walkinpark · 08/10/2022 18:51

@Wxluuu yes it looked like 10-12 per group max (that is also quite generous)...it really depends on how the cohort does so we shall see...probably some parents decided not to come because of the Oct date? maybe they make it super hard to try and tutor proof it or something

Naliny · 08/10/2022 18:58

Same here - said Reasoning was the hardest part, and doesn’t “remember” what he wrote in the Composition (there were two he said? Cat or Dog, and Super Hero Animal?). Not a good sign. He was group 20 btw so definitely more than 14 groups.

Wxluuu · 08/10/2022 19:04

Ahh thank you @Naliny . We only saw 14 groups at the coach park entrance.

Glassofmerlot · 08/10/2022 19:04

My son said he left three questions in comprehension empty:( anyone else having any empty comprehension? My son can be extremely slow. And verbal reasoning he found harder than his usual prep questions. Seems like the exam was hard this year

Glassofmerlot · 08/10/2022 19:15

Also my sons group was 13 kids and there were 20+ groups

walkinpark · 08/10/2022 19:22

ah from the email it sounded like 14 groups but the other groups probably had different arrangements

Wxluuu · 08/10/2022 19:51

Thank you @Glassofmerlot .
Next few days will be agonizing⏳

Naliny · 08/10/2022 20:21

@Glassofmerlot I am pretty sure my son has left questions blank too, definitely in the Reasoning part. Did anybody else hear that there were two different kinds of composition?

Wxluuu · 08/10/2022 20:27

@Naliny yes my son said there were a 'Cat vs Dog' and a 'Superhero Animal'. From the way he described it, the first one was short, and the second one seemed like a longer piece.

ItsRainingTacos79 · 08/10/2022 23:46

Fingers crossed for all your DSs who sat exams today 🤞🏽. Hopefully they've done enough to get through. I can only imagine how agonising the wait must be.

walkinpark · 09/10/2022 00:00

@ItsRainingTacos79 thanks - am not holding my breath for this one :)

WoodlandWalks123 · 09/10/2022 06:59

Keeping fingers crossed for everyone who did exams yesterday!! Sounds like a v tough exam.

Glassofmerlot · 09/10/2022 09:11

walkinpark · 09/10/2022 00:00

@ItsRainingTacos79 thanks - am not holding my breath for this one :)

Same here! On to the next one.

Does anyone do mock tests? There are plenty options.

walkinpark · 09/10/2022 10:15

@Glassofmerlot we could not get EPP slots so am not signing up DC for now. will work on specific areas only for next few weeks.

Candyfloss2 · 09/10/2022 11:15

Results out on Wednesday and Thursday .

ItsRainingTacos79 · 09/10/2022 12:06

From the first exam, at what level would you guess VR/NVR was set? We use bond books for these mainly and currently alternating between age 6-7 and 7-8 years. 8-9 years becomes too challenging.
