Has anyone joining WUS 7+ received any info about joiners meetings or been receiving the weekly newsletters?

No we haven't yet either. We also asked to be added to the newsletter but no news yet.

FriendlyMom · 07/03/2023 10:34

Sometime around the Easter break you will receive more information about new joiners meeting and next steps.

Some friends of mine are interested in knowing approx. how many kids sit for 7+ exams for schools like Kings , WUS and SPJ? Does anyone know? Thanks

SevenPlusforFY22 · 14/10/2023 09:40

Around 350 - 400 last year..

Around 350 - 400 last year..

Many sit all 3, so you are looking at roughly 130 places between 500/600 pupils. So roughly a 1 in 5 chance.

@Akshu83, this thread covers the entrance exams in early December 2022

Hi folks - my DS has been invited for the Stage 2 / interview at SPJ this year and it is tomorrow! For those who went through the process last year, please could you advise what we should be prepared for? Was there a writing exercise as I know this can be tricky?

FriendlyMom · 28/11/2023 12:12

It is a second stage assessment - an exam of sorts by itself but in a group. It has/had a math exercise and an English, including creative writing part. An interview element is woven in but is quite informal and easy going. Two years ago the HM took part in the assessment, not sure if this is still the case. The assessment is not meant to put the boys off, but on the contrary - get them engaged and help them demonstrate their skills - quantitative, analytical, work in groups, etc. a time to shine. Good luck!
just to add: no additional preparation is required than what the boys have already done, just to be interactive, engaged and shine :) it is an reenactment of sorts of the classroom setting.

Does anybody know what the SPJ Bowl carpark is? That's where we have been asked to go. Is that the regular car park inside their main entrance? TIA!

Catchme · 29/11/2023 00:31

It is the carpark on the right hand side as you enter through the main gates. Good luck!

How did it go for everyone today?
My DS seemed to have really enjoyed his day, although he didn’t remember the specifics much! Apparently they had to continue a story, sit in a circle and answer questions in a group and a few group based maths problem solving.
Apparently no formal interviews for the boys! The parents interview seemed pretty full on though!

london2314 · 30/11/2023 23:46

Do you happen to know how much time the boys had for the writing exercise please? Many thanks!

@TsangLangRiver How did your DS do in the end?

My son is entering Y1 and we are looking at SPJS and WUS. Do you have tutor to recommend?
