Hi there,

Just feel it's been very quiet here this year on the 7+ exams and no thread has appeared wrt to those two schools.

Anyone out there also prepping?

Did anyone do city? Any feedback from your little ones? Wish it wasn't such a long wait but I know they're still doing interviews until friday

yes it was a bunch of group activities, asking them about the artwork, some maths...reading about floods....hard to tell how they select :)

Caps0218 · 18/01/2023 22:19

Wetherby do send a lot, but it’s not down to exceptional teaching…more parents all heavily tutoring.

AC7001 · 18/01/2023 23:33

DS is sitting SPJ 11+ but the interview is very different from 13+ and so little information on the secondary school section. It includes a 3-hour assessment section, may I ask, would it be similar to the 7+ or 8+ assessment at SPJ? If so, what is it about? What do the boys need to do and what do you think they are looking for?

The more I read and ask people offline about WUS and SPJ the more I think that getting into WUS/SPJ is 90% depends on the child and 10% - school/tutoring? especially at 7+. a school/tutor can only prepare a child for 7+ if he is naturally bright and emotionally mature to do extra studies regularly. I do not see the point of pushing into SPJ/WUS a child who is not bright enough to follow the pace at SPJ/WUS and end up with mental issues due to being pushed too hard.

is there any point to call the schools (eg WUS) before they send the decision emails. does it make any difference?

bstrong0805 · 20/01/2023 11:27

All the best to everyone waiting for WUS today!
In terms of other schools like City or Highgate - are they all expected to send offers on 30th ? I heard in previous years they call up kids who did very well a few days before and tell them to expect an offer. Not sure if anyone has got any updates or call so far this year ?

icantbelievethis001 · 20/01/2023 11:53

Good luck all! I recall the wait being nerve wracking! Constantly refreshing emails!

animalplanet1 · 20/01/2023 12:35

Any news from WUS?

Fingers crossed for everyone waiting to hear back from WUS.

@bstrong0805 haven't heard about the calls coming in before offers being sent out. They didn't mention in any correspondence. But who knows?!

patiencecompassion · 20/01/2023 14:26

We got a no from WUS!! Good luck to everyone.

animalplanet1 · 20/01/2023 14:48

lovetoeat101 · 20/01/2023 16:23

We are a yes too! Dropping our offers from St Paul’s and Kings for anyone on the reserve list.

icantbelievethis001 · 20/01/2023 16:42

@lovetoeat101 @Wxluuu well done on you Ds and look forward to seeing you at the WUSPA events throughout the year.

njshore · 20/01/2023 16:42

Congrats to all with offers! Anyone dropping WUS offer for SPS? My friend is on WUS waitlist.

Wxluuu · 20/01/2023 16:45

We can't decide on SPJ or WUS, but have dropped KCS. A weekend of delibration ahead!

Congrats to your son. A high class problem, indeed! Please let us know your final decision as you will make some families very happy.

matchaicecream · 20/01/2023 16:52

Why do you prefer WUS? Please share your thoughts🙏
We also received an offer from WUS and will have to decide between SPJ and WUS this weekend, both lovely schools in different ways.

We had the same decision to make and in the end the major factor in us deciding was ease of commute.

is the Saturday morning school an issue at all for WUS?

icantbelievethis001 · 20/01/2023 19:20

@Caps0218 Saturday school only kicks in at the great school, so from year 9.

JHB23 · 20/01/2023 19:26

Good Evening,

Well done for all the boys for trying so hard with their 7+ exams this year, it’s been very tough and they have all done so well regardless of outcome.

congratulations to all that have received offers from WUS. We also have an offer from WUS and SPJ; like many of you, we now need to decide which school will be more suitable for our DS, all opinions will be appreciated.

My friend’s DS has been placed on the WUS Reserve List, any idea how many boys are on the RL? Thank you. X

We need to decide between the two schools as well? Anyone can shed some light on school trips? Do they take kids on international trips from Y3/Y4? Thanks a lot

First international trip to France is Y5. If you join ski team then you could travel in Y4 (extra curricular)

Catchme · 20/01/2023 20:53

I don’t believe international trips begin before year 5. Most trips in year 3 are day trips and within town bar 1 summer residential trip. spj residential trips start from year 4, but not international.
