Do any of the No WUS emails say you shouldnt bother applying for 8+? I remember someone mentioning earlier that WUS used to give guidance on whether the kid should come back for 8+ or not...
Does SPJ have a policy around coming/not coming back for 8+?

ItsRainingTacos79 · 12/01/2023 16:28

Sorry to hear that @Mumofboys25

We were feeling pretty confident after the assessment (minus the NVR chaos) so it came as a blow.

@simona28 ours just says we're welcome to try for 8+ and that the results of the 7+ has no bearing on the 8+. When I applied for eldest DS a few years ago they told us that we can only choose to sit one assessment. Not both. But looks like this is no longer the case.

bstrong0805 · 12/01/2023 17:27

Our email says the same about 8 plus. SPJ gave a far more detailed and personalized feedback. I sense at WUS we all got the same NO email.

SevenPlusforFY22 · 13/01/2023 15:03

Hi All,

Does anyone know when will Latymer share the assessment results? I thought it was today.

patiencecompassion · 13/01/2023 19:36

Good luck to everyone who got through the first round. Don’t be disappointed if your DS didn’t make it through. 7 plus is mostly about luck. They’re too young at this stage to be judged. In fact I am very resentful of this whole process. You’ve all done great regardless of the outcome.

ItsRainingTacos79 · 16/01/2023 08:23

Good luck to all doing the WUS 2nd round today 🍀🤞🏽

And good luck to those doing the 2nd round at City this week 🍀🤞🏽

ItsRainingTacos79 · 16/01/2023 08:25

@patiencecompassion I am so with you on this! The whole process has been an ordeal.

WoodlandWalks123 · 16/01/2023 13:49

@patiencecompassion thank you for your comforting words. @ItsRainingTacos79 i couldn’t agree more - this process is a nightmare and I think I have aged about 5 years in the last year! I’m not sure what’s worse though, preparing for the exams or awaiting the results! We are doing a mix of the both right now so at least the preparation is taking my mind off the ones we have done and waiting for. Argh! Have you finished all your exams?

ItsRainingTacos79 · 16/01/2023 17:09

@WoodlandWalks123 we had our last interview today and it feels like a massive weight has been lifted off my shoulders. You will get there too! Not long to go now. Sadly for me, I am now embarking on the 11+ journey and I'm probably mad to think I can go it alone without the help of a tutor. We'll see how it goes😬.

All the best for the remaining assessments and interviews. Fingers crossed we all get some offers 🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽

Good luck to everyone! Last interview for us today and I almost want to cry with relief. Just a waiting game now ….

Same here, such a big relief and hope everyone gets some good news sooner or later!

Does any one know why they asking Kids to bring a hand drawn painting for city school
Interview. My son struggles with Art and I am just anxious on the ask. Is it that they will just use this for topic for interview questions.

animalplanet1 · 17/01/2023 12:17

Anyone went to the WUS round 2 yesterday and how did you feel?

OP posts:
ItsRainingTacos79 · 17/01/2023 12:22

@SevenPlusforFY22 they are asking the children to talk about their pictures and what they show. DS doesn't enjoy art either but I managed to persuade him to draw a very simple picture of the view from his bedroom and told him to colour in as much of it as he wants.

patiencecompassion · 17/01/2023 12:25

Was very hard to gauge. DS said that it was fun and jokes, some questions and some writing. I didn’t prep my DS for this so I don’t know what was expected. All I know he gave short one sentence answers which I see isn’t the way to go. But looks like the boys had a good time. Good luck

ItsRainingTacos79 · 17/01/2023 12:30

@animalplanet1 a friend took their DS. It sounded pretty full on. Friend mentioned their DS felt a bit nervous interacting with the other children over lunch and the English element of the assessment was not very enjoyable. They mentioned the experience put their DS off 😬

Thank you, this is helpful. I will not fret over the quality of the picture now. When DS makes something , it needs to be explained by him before I understand what he has drawn. Lol

Mumathh · 17/01/2023 12:47

DS said they were put in pairs to do some math and activities such as building a house. English included writing tasks (20mins and about an object which boys can choose from 3 pictures?)
Couldn’t get any specific re interview as he can’t remember🙄

animalplanet1 · 18/01/2023 11:00

Thanks for the responses. DS also said a lot of kids seemed already know each other. I guess they might come from the same school ie Wetherby. Does WUS take a lot of Wetherby boys every year?

poppybuttons · 18/01/2023 12:56

@animalplanet1 , you can see on the Wetherby school website that they have sent 55 to Westminster and 68 to St Paul's at 7 & 8 plus combined in last 5 years.

Yea today like every year was especially Wetherby and Eaton House heavy -- most likely one of those 2 schools. They both are the biggest pre-preps as each is 2 large schools rather than a singular normal school sending 1 or 2.

njshore · 18/01/2023 18:12

Yes, I think there are always a group of 6-7 boys each year at WUS where my sons attend. I think last 2 years when they moved online there were 5-6 offers for 8+ boys. Btw, a friend was asking whether anyone knows SPS offered an extra unadvertised day of interview tomorrow for boys who had interview conflict with WUS today?

2minutesplease · 18/01/2023 21:09

@poppybuttons , do you mean Wetherby Kensington pre-prep school? I can see there are just 1-2 boys going to top 3 boys schools every year from there.

Did anyone do city? Any feedback from your little ones? Wish it wasn't such a long wait but I know they're still doing interviews until friday

No search on Wetherby School/about us/school destinations.
It's part of the original pembridge villas site that Prince of Wales went to etc.
