7+ WUS and SPJ 2022

Hi there,

Just feel it's been very quiet here this year on the 7+ exams and no thread has appeared wrt to those two schools.

Anyone out there also prepping?

@SparklySparky I called highgate and they told me the results will be shared early next week. I am expecting a Monday or Tuesday email.

I'm so sorry to hear that @SparklySparky 😔Hopefully you get better news from Highgate next week. It seems very hit and miss, I have a friend who's DD was invited back for NLCS but not for City.

DS has been invited back for the 2nd round at City. It has come as a total surprise. Keeping fingers crossed 🤞🏽.

Good luck for Highgate! The wait is worse than the actual assessment 🫣

@ItsRainingTacos79 that’s fantastic, well done to your DS! Best of luck for Highgate too, I’m sure if he got through City he’ll be fine there too. DD felt the Highgate exam was a lot easier but I’m not holding my breath 😭

Morning. Is SPJ going to release the results today? I know the email says this Friday. DH took DS to the assessment last week and that's what he "overheard".

Any news from Highgate yet? Not holding out much hope as DS said he didn’t finish his English story (he said they only had 20 minutes to write it, and he just had time to do a single page, and didn’t manage to write an ending, so that doesn’t sound too hopeful!)

DS is through to next round at Highgate. We have Westminster and UCS in Jan. Back to some prep after a few days of break over Christmas 😭.

@WoodlandWalks123 my friend's DS sat for Habs yesterday. She said it was surprisingly quiet in terms of the number of children sitting for assessments compared to other schools. Unless they staggered assessments across the whole day.

@ItsRainingTacos79 oh really?? Wow! I haven’t done the other central London schools but I thought there was a lot of kids lol, it’s usually around 1:8 ratio for Habs I think but I did think there was probably around 1:6 just by estimating the cars in the car park! Anyway, my DS found it tricky so putting that one mentally on the back burner - onto the next!

It's dragging on so much the the kids are fatigued. How many more to go?

We have Highgate interview the very next day after WUS and City hasn't even got in touch yet re when they want to interview - seems DS is barely attending school this term due to all this. He had UCS last Friday.

Has anyone signed up to Atom Learning? I thought it would be a good idea to get DS familiarised with WUS' format. But it starts at Y3 level and seems far more challenging. The language is more 'sophisticated', especially in the English reading/comprehension tasks. Asks questions like 'How can we deduce...', 'In stanza 2...', 'in ascending order'. I hope the actual assessment will be adjusted and made age appropriate.
