@ItsRainingTacos79 Oh gosh 11+ too! That is a whole other kettle of fish, I would need to do a lot of studying myself to help DD through that one 😂 Let me know how Highgate goes and I’ll report back too. Best of luck to your DS.

All the best to everyone waiting for SPJ results today. From previous years, looks like emails come out between 4-5pm.

Catchme · 05/12/2022 11:11

Wow! 4-5pm in previous years! That seem rather late in the day, especially if some of the successful candidates will need to attend the next round the following day. Fingers crossed!

bstrong0805 · 05/12/2022 13:00

@Catchme yes I thought the same! Hard enough for the 6-7 year olds, this whole process! Anyone got an email yet ?

We got a NO and a detailed email but asking him to re apply at 8. Gutted but not entirely surprised. We have a late July child and he’s very good but probably wasn’t mature and ready enough. Best of luck to others !

Candyfloss2 · 05/12/2022 16:41

Nice of them giving u a DETAILED feedback so fast and invite u back .
rest schools won’t give until Jan 2023 and no way I would call it detailed.

SevenPlusforFY22 · 05/12/2022 17:04

Hi all, we got a No from SPJ. Do SPJ invite all to sit for 8+ assessment or it is invite only if you have already sat for the 7plus.

bstrong0805 · 05/12/2022 17:10

From what I understand, based on where how scored in the 7 plus, they give you an indication if you will stand a chance at 8 plus. One of my freinds also wrote with us, got a NO, but for time she would be best sitting her son back at 11.

Mumofboys25 · 05/12/2022 17:17

We got a detailed no, but try for the 8+
I’m a bit shocked at math score as that’s his strongest point. His english … not so great but he scored top end?! I’ve emailed asking if he missed pages just so I know

bstrong0805 · 05/12/2022 17:23

@Mumofboys25 interesting as I was surprised at my son's math score also. Either he didn't do very well, or the level of the paper was quite high (which it probably was). They also mentioned in my email that the cohort this year was excellent ( better than previous years), which is something our school has been telling us too. Fingers crossed for the others!

Naliny · 05/12/2022 17:33

Sorry to hear about the No’s - but nice that they give feedback.
We have been invited to an interview/classroom visit on Wednesday which is very short notice and I don’t have a clue what the process of this is. Unlike KCJS I have found very little information on what the day will consist of. Does anyone have any insight at all? They are supposed to bring a pencil case and ruler again…

Glassofmerlot · 05/12/2022 19:41

Well done to everyone who passed! Does anyone know how they choose the one interview dates? By schools, surnames, scores?

Naliny · 05/12/2022 19:48

@Glassofmerlot my son and all the others that passed from his school have their interview on Wednesday, at the same times too. So I think they keep school cohorts together. It was the same with the KCJS interviews.

Lolakath19 · 05/12/2022 20:19

Last year, all boys from same school were grouped together, assessment was mainly like a morning at school. THey did some maths english etc. They are looking at how they interact in group and had some pb to solve by pairs. Parents were interviewed by Mrs Shaw (no I guess you will see Mr snowball). It was a very informal interview and I don t think this plays in if they offer you the place or not. It was more for the headmistress to give some feedback around how the paper assessment went and where your son is (top 5/ top 10,to 20... bottom) and if they were anyrhing they will look more specifically at during the day (for example if english was a bit weak they would have a particular look at how he was doing during the day. The head will come and see the boy during the activities. You can also ask any question you have.
Hope this helps

Candyfloss2 · 05/12/2022 20:49

wow. So envy . I wish we went to spj just for the priceless feedback !! (We postponed to 8+)
they sound like paediatrician, even predict ur DS is ready @8 or @11 !!!!!!

Naliny · 05/12/2022 21:46

@Lolakath19 thank you! So helpful!

They do this so it's fair to all candidates from same school since the lessons across all days are the same

SevenPlusforFY22 · 06/12/2022 17:58

Hello again, Can someone please share what did they ask in the written assessment for the 7Plus for Dulwich college last Saturday? I am unable to extract anything out of my DS.

Writeontime · 07/12/2022 05:50

@SevenPlusforFY22 was it an exercise to write about a character from a book that is brave and funny? I couldn’t quite work out whether my ds made the last bit up (brave and funny) but that’s what he told me…

SevenPlusforFY22 · 07/12/2022 14:48

@Writeontime Thank you so much, now he remembers. :)

bananapie22 · 08/12/2022 02:58
