Anybody taking the 7+ exam this year? I have noticed there isn't a thread on it this year. We are going to be trying for St Paul's and Kings. At the moment we are really struggling with the comprehension. Anybody else in the same boat?

@Curiousma oh dear. I hope the papers weren’t as tricky as the new practise ones. DS didn’t seem to think so when asked but considering he’s left a fair amount unanswered, I’m not very hopeful.

Curiousma · 28/11/2021 08:29

@muminwood My DS didn’t seem to think as well. Not long to wait. Good luck to everyone.

2minutesplease · 28/11/2021 09:57

Muminwood (someone please teach me how to put names in bold!), the real questions and volume was definitely not anything like new papers. 15 questions vs 30 - there is a difference!

Shehr · 28/11/2021 10:13

I agree. The new papers were just not doable within the 20 minute timeframe. My DS said that the level of questions was more or less like Kings.

Agree again. I think they were created just to raise profits without thinking how the kids will be doing them ☹️

muminwood · 28/11/2021 10:27

@2minutesplease yes absolutely. Real shame because it threw us off completely and the last few days of prep only consisted of cracking those papers as opposed to sticking to regular prep. Lesson learnt!

2minutesplease · 28/11/2021 15:24

This is exactly what happened to us, Muminwood!

Shehr · 29/11/2021 09:09

Any idea what time the emails go out today for St Paul's?

Curiousma · 29/11/2021 09:18

@Shehr According to current parents, last year they send it at 1:30 pm and year before at 5:30pm.

Sheef · 29/11/2021 09:43

Anyone heard from St Pauls today after the assessment on Sat.

Thanks

Sheef · 29/11/2021 09:47

Congratulations to everyone who got through Kings..

Sheef · 29/11/2021 09:54

Also anyone’s son attending Habs assessment next week?

HateElevenPlus · 29/11/2021 10:27

Haven't heard anything @Sheef but totally not getting my hopes up as he did pretty crap Confused
Good luck to everyone today!

Sheef · 29/11/2021 10:29

Same here as he told me he didn’t finish any of his papers..Sad

indiesearcher · 29/11/2021 10:36

Crossed fingers here for news from the assessment DS sat last week (not the schools mentioned here but another London prep) - he's at a state school now and we didn't want to over prep him as didn't want him too invested in a long shot, but desperately hoping they might have seen some potential!

They've said they'll be in touch early this week so expect we'll hear by Weds.

HateElevenPlus · 29/11/2021 11:47

Which prep is that @indiesearcher ?
Good luck!

indiesearcher · 29/11/2021 11:55

Rokeby in SW London (and actually an 8+ test but hoping for a spot in yr 3 if one comes up).

HateElevenPlus · 29/11/2021 12:37

Ok we re not far from there either ! Hope you get some good news!

Shehr · 29/11/2021 13:18
