Anybody taking the 7+ exam this year? I have noticed there isn't a thread on it this year. We are going to be trying for St Paul's and Kings. At the moment we are really struggling with the comprehension. Anybody else in the same boat?

If anyone is still hoping for a Highgate place, I heard they are offering to wait list since yesterday. We (heavy-heartedly!) turned down our offer earlier today.

Dingdong44 · 10/02/2022 12:16

Highgate seems to have closed their list yesterday. Did anyone on WL get a place? Heard they didn’t move to WL.

Dingdong44 · 10/02/2022 12:17

Has City WL moved? Asking for a friend.

SnoopyForever · 10/02/2022 12:44

@Dingdong44 I've heard 1 place is going to come up at City - so ask your friend to call if she's interested

Thank you @SnoopyForever

Hi - Has anyone heard anything further on City WL? Anyone been rejected off the WL?

Newmum1252 · 17/02/2022 15:21

Hi everyone sorry to jump on this thread but I’m hoping you can help me.

My son has been accepted on the 7+ test for Chigwell school. He failed bancrofts. Both Chigwell abs bancrofts are all through schools. We have Woodford green prep and St Aubyns coming up which are up to 11 for WGP and 13 for st Aubyns. What would you do? Choose all through or go for a small prep as teachers will all know the child very well? I’m worried a big all through school will result in my child getting less attention. We’ve come from a state school. I was appalled by the education he got. I’ve taught him everything from scratch as the state school has been a joke. He has never had a teacher for whole academic year. Just this term he’s had 3 different supplies!

@Curiousma @Shehr and anyone else willing to help, would really appreciate any recommendations you have for useful resources to prepare for the 7+ for Kings and St Pauls. We’re also ideally looking to find a kind and nurturing tutor that can build discipline and confidence if you have any recommendations. My husband and I both work long hours and sadly I’m not as available as I would like to be to help prepare our son. Thank you so much for any guidance you can give.

Candyfloss2 · 09/10/2022 21:57

Anyone this year ?

Londonmamatoboys · 06/11/2022 19:41

Hiya, looking for a recommendation for a nurturing and kind but effective 7+ tutor in the Kew/Chiswick/Barnes area. We had someone we really liked but they’ve decided not to do sessions anymore so I’d be very grateful for any recommendations. Thanks so much!

Mamamama1234 · 20/01/2023 23:39

Hi @Londonmamatoboys how did it go? Did you get a place? We’re just starting the process for our ds and wondering if you can share any tips/ tutors?

Hi Everyone, can someone please advise what materials they used for Kings maths preparation for new format? We have tried EPP Kings-they seem to be ok but slightly difficult, any other papers, books which are done in Kings Maths format for 8+? Thank you

I thought EPP maths was ok, I didn’t bother buying the English paper as it’s comprehension and story which should be standard….this was for 7+.

Thank you for your reply. We are doing EPP general ones, but there are also EPP kings, have you done those specific EPP kings where there are 3 sections including problem solving and mathematical reasoning?

So we did EPP general and for Maths, Reasoning and English.
DS is good at maths, so he tends to get 80% on Maths and Reasoning, but English he tends to get 60%.
We didnt do the Kings EPP, just had a look at format on the Kings website.
EPP tends to pitch all their papers at quite a difficult level.
we are hoping for an easy comprehension and a difficult maths.

Thank you. We did find new format challenging as need to explain the qs. Hope it will not be that challenging at exam and will be similar to general EPP. Have you already taken exam last year or taking it this year?

alquora · 26/09/2024 07:15

Morning, yes we are doing 8+, didn't sit 7+ last year. Quite a jump I feel from 7+ level. Good luck!
