Anybody taking the 7+ exam this year? I have noticed there isn't a thread on it this year. We are going to be trying for St Paul's and Kings. At the moment we are really struggling with the comprehension. Anybody else in the same boat?

Congratulations to you and all your DS @Shehr @Curiousma @2minutesplease!

2minutesplease · 09/12/2021 18:00

@Curiousma, congratulations!!!
What school are you going to choose?

Bellaumbrealla · 09/12/2021 18:11

Offer received.
How to choose between Kings and St Paul?
As I’m not local, could anyone share opinions here?
Appreciate!

Jesse21plus · 09/12/2021 18:33

Got email too! Never imagine we would need to make such a decision! Congratulations to all those who have got offers! And good luck to those who are waiting for the email!

Curiousma · 09/12/2021 19:13

@2minutesplease My son will be trying Westminster as well but he really liked St Paul’s.

Congratulations @Bellaumbrealla and @Jesse21plus too.

Parent123456 · 09/12/2021 19:44

Got in as well!!
But I think we will go for kings as we really loved the school and commute is similar!

Shehr · 09/12/2021 20:30

@Curiousma is Westminster your first choice? We are really not sure whether our DS should sit the exam. Is there a specific reason you prefer it over St Paul's and Kings?

OP posts:
Curiousma · 09/12/2021 20:56

@Shehr Westminster is closest to us but my DS really liked St Paul’s and we as a parent impressed with the St Paul’s we believe and have a feeling that our DS could get everything he needs there. We will be having another tour to St Paul’s.

Shehr · 09/12/2021 21:05

Thank you for providing more detail 😊

Congrats to you and your DS, @Parent123456 and @Jesse21plus
I think we’ll go for Kings too. I’d speak to some more current parents but… location location location seems more important when I start thinking about all stress we can avoid if we stay local.
Would be great to have a chat at Kings tour on the 15 January!

2minutesplease · 09/12/2021 21:17

@Bellaumbrealla, how about your gut feeling? Which school you could easier see your DS in?

Shehr · 09/12/2021 21:51

Does anyone know if kings waiting list has moved post St Paul's offers? Asking for a friend's DS.

OP posts:
2minutesplease · 09/12/2021 21:58

I doubt it will move before Christmas as people with double offers need time to think and rethink. Last year the WL moved only after the deadline…

Parent123456 · 09/12/2021 22:08

WL may move depending on how much kings and St. Paul over offered as well. Would be curious to know the number of offers each of these made

2minutesplease · 09/12/2021 22:22

Mrs Shaw was saying they usually make around 70 offers.

Parent123456 · 09/12/2021 22:58

Waouh that is a lot that is almost a full class of over offer! With those number I guess they don’t have to pick from waiting list!

To be honest I feel these two school are so similar and will go for a visit again then make a decision

Parent123456 · 10/12/2021 10:57

We have accepted Kings this morning and released the place at SPJ in case anyone is on the waitlist there :D

Jesse21plus · 10/12/2021 11:06

@Parent123456 if you don’t mind, what’s your key criteria in addition to location when making this decision ? We are struggling to decide, tbh

Parent123456 · 10/12/2021 11:26

@Jesse21plus
Apart from location, the main deciding point was pastoral care. I think both schools are academically fantastic and it is a hard (but nice) decision to make.
Our son is very gentle and not at all competitive and we feel that Kings will be a better fit for him and nurture this. (not saying that we are right).
I know in the past, people were more or less choosing SPJ over Kings automatically when they were in our position but I think it was mainly due to the fact that the transfer to the senior school was not automatic Kings has now changed that.
I hope this helps :)
