7+ exam

Anybody taking the 7+ exam this year? I have noticed there isn't a thread on it this year. We are going to be trying for St Paul's and Kings. At the moment we are really struggling with the comprehension. Anybody else in the same boat?

@Shehr thanks and was it a top 20/40/60 80 or a multiple of 10?

Shehr · 03/12/2021 18:33

Multiples of 5

In our case Mrs Shaw was very precise too re: ranking.

Jesse21plus · 03/12/2021 22:27

Would only top 20-30 candidates be given the precise ranking?

Curiousma · 03/12/2021 23:45

We didn’t get the exact ranking too just within top something.

2minutesplease · 03/12/2021 23:52

The ranking we were given was a multiple of 5 like Shehr said.

Hello, can anyone please share with me which level/types of EPP your 7+ and 8+ interview boys were doing at home? With percentage scores? As well as any good suggestions for other exam books with ages? It would be so incredibly helpful to know if we're targeting at the right level for math and reasoning at home.

Thank you.

icantbelievethis001 · 04/12/2021 08:47

Sorry for confusion. This was 2 years ago, when individual rankings across the different papers and an overall indivisible ranking was given. Things obviously have changed since then. GLA for the results!

2minutesplease · 04/12/2021 08:53

@pinktuberose, my DS was usually doing 7+ and 8+ math with 90%+ score, however comprehension could be anything from 40-80% depending on the text.

Parent123456 · 04/12/2021 13:49

One of my friends Ds is on the waitlist for kings. Do any of you know how many boys are on there ? 15? What about St. Paul will the waitlist be all boys not being offered a place out of the 100 that came back?

Jesse21plus · 04/12/2021 13:57

I don’t think all boys invited to 2nd stage at St Paul’s without offer will be on waiting list - it sounds a lot even if some boys with offer will decline. Think last year or before, KCS or SPJ waiting list didn’t even move because the positions were filled

Parent123456 · 04/12/2021 14:12

So that would mean that they over offer? Like 60 offers for 54 places as I would assume quite a few boys would have multiple offers.

Jesse21plus · 04/12/2021 15:24

Yes I reckon so or most receiving offers have accepted. Because the schools always expect there will be some boys with multiple offers so they will decline some offers. Just not sure how many the schools will over offer. Heard one of the schools over offered a lot a year ago

2minutesplease · 04/12/2021 15:29

@Parent123456 I heard from Mrs Shaw that they usually place around 70 offers at 7+. So they over offer by 16.
Kings’ waiting list moved last year and didn’t move the year before.

Jesse21plus · 04/12/2021 16:25

This sounds reasonable but guess KCS /WUS would take similar approach. Also depends how many boys would have multiple offers

2minutesplease · 04/12/2021 19:05

I think those who sit WUS have it as a first choice otherwise I cannot imagine how you could keep prepping over Christmas and sit more exams after securing offers from KCS or SPS.

2minutesplease · 04/12/2021 19:06

So probably WUS don’t over offer unlike Kings and St Paul’s?

habsboys2020 · 04/12/2021 19:11

When will people hear from St Pauls?

2minutesplease · 04/12/2021 20:03

On the 10 December.

Jesse21plus · 04/12/2021 20:24

@2minutesplease WUS will only take around 22 for 7+ and another 22 at 8+, so they won’t over offer at the same number as the other two but percentage wise, it’s possible.

Lolakath19 · 04/12/2021 20:34

There might be a few people on waitlist at kings and stpaul that will try Westminster though

Shehr · 04/12/2021 22:04

Is WUS the first choice for anyone here?

Good luck to all who are going through St Paul’s second stage today or tomorrow. Fingers crossed for Friday!

Parent123456 · 07/12/2021 08:55

Will the school be posting offers/rejection letter on the 9 for us to receive on the 10?

2minutesplease · 07/12/2021 09:54

I think they will let us know by emails on the 10th December.
