Is there an anxiously awaiting primary school places thread yet?
One week to go and it’s all I can think about. We are on Easter holidays from pre school and it’s going so so slow waiting.
Does anyone know what time we find out?

Wish I'd not opened it. No primary place offered AT ALL

Arse

No idea what to do next or what happens. Lying here awake and no chance of going back to sleep Confused

1Potato2 · 16/04/2018 05:47

My sil lives in Stockport and got her email last night. Nothing for Manchester. Very frustrating. I was worried our application hadn't gone through or something.

user5292769 · 16/04/2018 05:52

@forfucksakejanet how can that be? Where about as are you? That is outrageous.

Relieved that DS2 got first choice, logistical nightmare if both of them had been in different places.

forfucksakejanet · 16/04/2018 05:58

*User no idea!! I'll be on the phone to them as soon as they open to find out what I am supposed to do now.......

RicStar · 16/04/2018 05:59

We don't get our emails/notification in London until tonight (5pm) if I recall from 2 years ago Manchester was later than some but earlier than us! No place offered at all is v.unlucky you must be in a unfortunate hotspot forfuckssake hope you get some news soon.

RicStar · 16/04/2018 06:06

Unfortunately forfuckssake you will probably have to wait a few days. You should call and make sure you are on any waiting lists. LA might also let you know the scale of the issue - how many placeless folks they have to find places by sept. Once folk start rejecting places then your local authority will know what they can offer or if they will have to make a bulge somewhere. Really horrible wait for you and makes a slight mockery of national offers day. But I guess if they really have no places at present then they have no places.

Do not murder your DH, and do not reject the school you've been offered, unless you really can HE indefinitely.

People are only ever offered one school, and it will be the highest up the preference form (if they qualified for more than one).

So in your circumstances, it means that you did not qualify for school 1 (it was filled with applicants who fitted the school criteria better than you did). You don't know if you would have been offered school 3 if it had been listed higher up yput form - because once they know you qualify for 2, you will be taken off lists for lower choices (shuffling everyone on those lists up one, as ranking lists for every school, are turned into single offer for each candidate).

It is likely you will have been pit on the waiting list for 1 automatically, but do check. You can also ask to be added to the waiting lists for your lower preference school, as you actually want it now, or indeed any other school.

Ring admissions as soon as you can about that. If school 3 isn't full, you want to get your interest known asap

FuzzyPenguin · 16/04/2018 06:21

Probably a stupid a question but how do you accept a place? I kept reading it’s important to accept the place to help the process but when I log into the portal all I can see is how to decline and appeal?

QuilliamCakespeare · 16/04/2018 06:23

Gah. We lost out on our first choice, which wasn't a massive surprise because it's a small school, but got our second one. How do I register for the waiting list?

hotchips · 16/04/2018 06:23

Still no email in Manchester, but found my original confirmation email and went through link on that and got into portal. We’ve been offered our second choice. Really sad we missed out on our first, but could be worse.

1Potato2 · 16/04/2018 06:24

Thanks Ricstar. I wish I'd known that last night!

GeekyWombat · 16/04/2018 06:36

Second choice here too. It’s a good school and a positive place for DD for lots of reasons, but both DH and I were in love with first choice. I guess we just wait and see the waiting list situation, although I’m not sure how much moving around to expect.

Very aware from others posting here and elsewhere that things could be worse, so trying to be positive. Flowers to those starting today with stress.

BHillary · 16/04/2018 06:42

On my email it says I don't need to accept the place and the school will be in touch,

Didn't have to accept last year for my son either so not all areas make you accept the place

mommathatwearspink · 16/04/2018 06:44

No news in Lancashire yet. We have been told that we need to wait until working hours to log in / receive our e-mails.
Sorry to hear about those of you who haven't got the choice you wanted and really sorry janet tht they've offered you no place at all. I hope you can get something sorted soon!

Monstersincq · 16/04/2018 06:50

Any chance london will be any earlier? Could have sworn I got a morning email one year. Can't take the waiting!

SorenLorensonsInvisibleFriend · 16/04/2018 06:54

Well, I got first choice for my daughter about twelve times last night. Unfortunately, after the worst sleep ever with that endless dream, I have yet to receive the email.

Last time it was 08.39 when my son's school place was emailed to me. Time to try and look like a human for the school run, then!

Please let it be our first choice, please let it be my son's school...!

SundialInTheShade · 16/04/2018 06:55

First choice here. Very happy. Some quite unusual results locally according to our local mums group though.

FuzzyPenguin · 16/04/2018 06:57

@BHillary thanks maybe I just have to wait then. It doesn’t say about the school contacting us like yours but it’s good to know that some places don’t make you confirm

meditrina · 16/04/2018 06:58

"Any chance london will be any earlier? Could have sworn I got a morning email one year. Can't take the waiting!"

Sorry, no. It's 5pm, every time, every admissions round and has been for years - that's one of the reasons I mentioned it earlier on the thread (and on all other admissions threads - it must be my albatross

Anyone waiting for online application results in Warwickshire ??

It seems to be down??

JZ1987 · 16/04/2018 07:08

(Down since 2am... I am so sick and nervous I can’t sleep!!!)

JZ1987 · 16/04/2018 07:10

How did some of you get results so early???

Herja · 16/04/2018 07:18

First choice! Which I'd expected, as its a faith school and she's a sibling. Still started worrying I'd cocked up the additional forms though.

MrsHathaway · 16/04/2018 07:21

Sorry to hear some people are disappointed - and especially those with no place at all.

DH accepted first preference overnight. Looking forward to finding out which of DC3's preschool classmates will be joining him - going by the numbers school were given in advance it should be nearly all but fingers crossed.
