Is there an anxiously awaiting primary school places thread yet?
One week to go and it’s all I can think about. We are on Easter holidays from pre school and it’s going so so slow waiting.
Does anyone know what time we find out?

I bet DH will check in the night despite us being bound to get the same school as DS. He's always doing things like checking in for flights because he was awake at 3!

Ohb0llocks · 15/04/2018 20:31

@NerrSnerr I'll be up with the baby too

I can answer the name labels question - get Stikins -from eBay - accept no alternatives.
Someone at school said the new parents' meeting is May so yes, no rush of info immediately.
But there's still the school uniform shopping to keep you busy. I reckon uniform in June (M&S sale is then I think?) and shoes in August.

Lincolnshire Council have released their 2018 intake lists. Reading between the lines can (for some) give a good idea of what to expect (example if your first choice still has six places left after giving first and second preferences then chances are you are in.

Link for anyone else in the area. Scroll to the bottom of the page. Perhaps other councils have done similar?

Stamptastic for us, stamp their names on everything. Urgh I’m so done with this wait.

Donna1605 · 15/04/2018 21:42

Just biro written names in for mine! lol! Quick and easy :)

drspouse · 15/04/2018 21:51

My children's names are too long and middle class for biro or Sharpie and I'm too lazy for sew in.

40andfeelingit · 15/04/2018 21:54

Stockport started sending the emails out about 7pm. We got our first choice so can go to bed without setting alarms for midnight to check now. Good luck everyone x

GeekyWombat · 15/04/2018 23:45

I can’t sleep. Got laptop by the bed ready to start hitting refresh at 12.01pm. DH snoring next to me. Can’t decide do I wake him or not wake him? I guess if it’s bad news I don’t cause what can we do anyway? But if it’s good...?

(PFB, can you tell? We fell in love with First choice school. Second choice is ok too and we’re well in catchment. Just hoping everyone who told us it was a low birth rate year was right!)

Good luck everyone!

Crimbles · 15/04/2018 23:48

Ditto Geeky DH said "just go to sleep and wait until morning!"

thatwhichwecallarose · 15/04/2018 23:54

Yup me too. Logged into portal and refreshing already.

DD2 for us, but we’re out of catchment despite leaving 250m from school and catchment trumps siblings here. Nervous times!!

GeekyWombat · 16/04/2018 00:06

Site running really slowly. I guess that means it's all live... just blimmin' steam powered!

HateSummer · 16/04/2018 00:08

Oxfordshire’s live now. Just found out we got first choice! 😅 feeling relieved.

Sukistjames · 16/04/2018 00:18

First choice for us. So relieved 😁
Now just waiting to see if I can get my eldest into our secondary of choice through appeal.

Allosaurusroar · 16/04/2018 00:47

We got first choice, so relieved.

NerrSnerr · 16/04/2018 00:49

We got our second choice which isn't a surprise and it's not a bad school. Think we'll go on our first choice waiting list but accept we'll probably end up with number 2.

JessicaPeach · 16/04/2018 00:51

First choice for us too, so so relieved!

samjar · 16/04/2018 02:25

Hi
So basically, my son has been offered a place to attend primary school at the school my husband listed as 2nd choice.

However, we have just realised my husband made a mistake as this school we did not even attend to view. My husband completed the application for schooling on the last day at work under pressure from other tasks - and has made the fatal mistake of selecting a school we have not seen or read reviews off. angry

The school has recently been turned into an Academy; but its previous entity as a school was classed "outstanding". It also turns out this school is in a really bad run down area with a higher crime rate.

But the problem is - our 1st and 3rd choice was not offered to us.

What should I do?
I would rather delay his schooling for a year to be honest than send him to this school.

Any advice? Thanks smile

NerrSnerr · 16/04/2018 02:31

@samjar you can go on the waiting lists of the schools you want, there is still time for movement. I would also see if you can look round the school you've been offered. If you haven't seen it there's a chance it might not be as bad as you think?

Tiredemma · 16/04/2018 02:38

Anyone got anything from Birmingham LEA yet?

Tiredemma · 16/04/2018 03:09

Just got the email. 2nd choice offered which I am delighted with. Would have liked 1st but mainly due to the Before and After school at that one opening earlier! No other reason.

I can breathe relief now. When I saw that first choice wasn't offered I expected to see none of my choices offered so am pleased. Phew! Good luck everyone else.

keeppassingtheopenwindows1 · 16/04/2018 03:10

We got our first choice! I'm so relieved!

hotchips · 16/04/2018 04:12

Woken up wondering our fate. In Manchester and no email yet. Also doesn’t seem to be an option to sign in to school admissions. Just forms to apply/change preferences. Confused
