Is there an anxiously awaiting primary school places thread yet?
One week to go and it’s all I can think about. We are on Easter holidays from pre school and it’s going so so slow waiting.
Does anyone know what time we find out?

Are you England or Scotland? I keep optimistically logging in just to check they haven’t been released in early Blush

England. Our schools knew last week but it is embargoed until parents find out on Monday.

JessicaPeach · 14/04/2018 16:50

Haha I do too Allo!! I know a few people in the north east of England who have had their letters today. I started thinking I wish I’d gone for a paper app but Cheshire West send out the letters a few days later I think!

boringbetty · 14/04/2018 19:44

Got ours today as well . Did an online application but got a letter this morning. We got our first choice Smile

Allosaurusroar · 14/04/2018 19:59

This is ruining my weekend because I jut can’t think of anything else.

And mine, some people in my local mums group have just realised and can’t remember their passwords etc. Its all these people who only put one choice and get it!

SO ANNOYING when people spread myths which coincide with their experience ("if you only put one school they have to give you a place there")!

Congratulations to lucky early birds; all best wishes to those still waiting.

BananaMilkshake13 · 14/04/2018 21:03

Congratulations to those who have already received places and good luck to everyone still waiting!

I've been obsessing since the applications opened in September!

Nervous and excited for evening of 16th...praying for 1st preference.
I teach locally so worse case scenario for us would be none of 6 preferences and the school I work in as 2nd closest to house....would actually be happy for any of 6 as long as not my school!

Essexgirlupnorth · 14/04/2018 21:09

England Tameside (Greater Manchester) council
I put all six choices done even through we have been going to church to get her into the CofE primaries so one of those where a dead cert which took the stress down

Eesha · 14/04/2018 21:54

Out of curiousity, what if you wanted to apply to schools in different boroughs, is this allowed and how would it be done?

Charmatt · 14/04/2018 22:11

Yes - you apply to your home authority who then swap information with the L.A. where the school is situated. You stick to the same deadline dates. Some LAs are county or city based and some are unitary authorities for boroughs.

Glowbug59 · 14/04/2018 23:14

Anxiously waiting here too

JessicaPeach · 14/04/2018 23:41

I don’t think that’s how it works her charmatt. We are close to the welsh border and can apply in both and be offered places in both but can only accept one. It’s pretty common here (only a couple of miles from the border, lots of English people living just into wales who want English schools etc)

Charmatt · 14/04/2018 23:45

Sorry - I was answering for England only. Wales have a different education system so different rules will apply each side of the border

Ohb0llocks · 15/04/2018 10:06

Ooh can I join!

We're not sure if DS will get a place at first choice, although he will almost definitely get into second choice.

We're v lucky in that we live in a town with 3 schools in walking distance (all good/outstanding).

BHillary · 15/04/2018 10:09

I've only applied for 1 school, she's in the nursery there which I know doesn't make a difference but her brother is there too so well if she doesn't get in I'll have to move them both ... or withdraw my son go aboard for 3 months then re register them both somewhere else

PumpkinPie2016 · 15/04/2018 12:23

We find out tomorrow - pretty confident we will get into our first choice as we love in the village but to be honest, I would be happy with any of the 4 schools I put down. We are exceptionally lucky to have a fair few really good schools nearby.

I hope everyone gets what they want.

MrsPussinBoots · 15/04/2018 15:08

9 hours to go ... not that I'm counting. We should get our result at midnight and I just hope it's my first or second choice.

Anewleaf · 15/04/2018 15:59

Nervously waiting here. Faith school first choice, very good second choice third or 4th would be appealing, but should be 1st choice. Not sure when exactly we hear. Fingers crossed for this. We moved specifically for better schools and this will be for our DD1.
Have checked already online but no joy.Brew

MustardCactus · 15/04/2018 18:18

Is it likely it will be up if I log in just past midnight? I'm in Bradford area. I'm up at 6 tomorrow though so don't know if it's worth staying up!

There's nothing you can do between midnight and 6am so if you can sleep I think you should.

If on the other hand you think you'll be lying awake fretting, set a 12.30am alarm and check then.

NerrSnerr · 15/04/2018 19:09

My baby is up loads in the night so will be up around midnight anyway. I'm more nervous than I thought I'd be!

meditrina · 15/04/2018 19:32

Hang on in there! Not long now
