We got our 1st and only choice. But ds2 had 2 siblings at the school and we live in the next street so was very unlikely we would have been refused a place.

3asAbird It sounds like you sorted out a viable option of HE'ing. Again, that is another option available. It's actually the one that I have chosen now, so one is HE and the other is in school, as that worked best for them. But I was simply pointing out that there are options. It cost me £150 per month, and I could ill afford it, but the money had to be found because the dcs had to be in school. It was difficult as the schools were in two completely separate directions from my house and a fair distance. Everyone's situation is slightly different - but often we see "two schools at same time" and we panic, so I was taking the time to point out that there are options to use in case it can't all be sorted so they're both in the same schools.

LittleLionMansMummy · 16/04/2015 08:09

Got our first choice (Cambridgeshire). Grin A massive relief as we were last on the oversubscription criterian list (well outside of catchment). Educationally and developmentally we were very happy with all our choices, but the other 2 choices would have meant moving ds away from his cm and friends.

Good luck to everyone who is still waiting. Good vibes to all.

minibmw2010 · 16/04/2015 08:10

We got our second choice but I'm not too upset. Our first choice is a great school and second an OK one, but second is a closer walk so I can see that making our life a bit easier long term ??

Good luck to those still waiting to hear.

RatOnnaStick · 16/04/2015 08:16

I have to wait til after 4pm in Kent too.

My good friend and neighbour is a childminder (with 4 of her own, 1 a newborn) and a good chunk of her business is before and after school care. She's always busy and I can see that in years to come when I'm back at work I will use her or someone like her and suck up the fees. I am going to be doing two sites I think but I have a car and live in the sticks so I'm expecting it.

Ionacat · 16/04/2015 08:21

Moltenpink · 16/04/2015 08:30

Cheshire East website still down for maintenance!

ShadowsShadowsEverywhere · 16/04/2015 08:33

First choice here too Grin

So so chuffed out of catchment school, but perfect for DD who has some sensory issues, I'd have been really panicking if she hadn't got in as the other two local options really weren't good.
So yay!

Now stupid question, what do I do now? It says to contact the school to accept the place ... Do I just literally ring up or will some paperwork be sent out. Is it a "you must contact the school ASAP" thing or not?

LadyFlumpalot · 16/04/2015 08:33

Yay! First choice here. Smile Not that I'm too surprised. I live in the arse end of nowhere and my village school has a catchment of about 20 miles!

I didn't get an email either btw, just went to council website, clicked "primary applications" and then logged in.

RatOnnaStick · 16/04/2015 08:34

Right. My website (Kent) says:

If you applied online we'll email you on 16 April 2015 after 4pm to tell you which school you have been offered. We cannot guarantee the exact time you will receive your email, this will depend on your email service provider.

You can also log in after 5pm on 16 April 2015 to view your offer online. If you need to reset your password you must use the email address you registered with.

They do send all the emails at once, its set up to bulk send, but servers take time to filter them all through because there are thousands and thousands at once. Its technology dictating the speed at which they arrive.

Also, check your junk mail folders.
