Cheshire West - went live at 00.30 and DH accepted at 00.32.

He's a sibling in catchment so we were very confident. What's been interesting is watching other people declaring themselves. As soon as I saw a friend say they'd got in from nearly the far end of catchment without siblings, I could deduce who else was definitely in.

It's still holidays here (broke up on Maundy Thursday) so we won't see the preschool friends for a while. Keeping our fingers crossed for lovely friend's lovely child who is only just out of catchment and whose siblings are too old to count for a link.

manchestermummy · 16/04/2015 12:19

First choice, phew! She has an older sibling but still, I am relieved!

StarvingBookworm · 16/04/2015 12:29

I think London system is timed on purpose to release the results at 5pm, so people can sleep on it instead of ringing LEA straight away.

Norfolk is the same but I don't think it will work the way they hope - surely those who are very unhappy will spend the night getting more wound up stewing on it?!

ihearttc · 16/04/2015 12:35

Yep we are in Norfolk and ours doesn't come out until later.

We live in a smallish rural town with one main Infant/Junior School. DS1 is at the adjoining Junior School but I think the criteria is on distance first...Siblings are way down the list of criteria.

We actually live the furtherest away from school that we possibly can be and actually be in the same town...our actual nearest school is in a completely different county (we are right on the border of Norfolk/Suffolk).

I know our first choice (where DS1 goes) and Second Choice will be oversuscribed and I think it will mean DS2 has to leave all his friends at school nursery and go to a village primary in one of the surrounding villages. Its not the end of the world but logistically will be very hard.

Typically my email has decided that its not going to work at all today and I cannot even access my emails at all so I hope Im going to be able to log onto Norfolk County Council Website later on and find out that way.

RunningKatie · 16/04/2015 12:42

We got in to our first choice, I'm so relieved. It's our catchment school too.

Have to reply apply in 3 years for the junior school next door! Shock

hillyhilly · 16/04/2015 12:45

Not good news here, (Sheffield) didn't get 1,2, or 3 but somewhere else entirely which we definitely do not want.
Appeal begins here!

PenguinsandtheTantrumofDoom · 16/04/2015 12:55

Sorry Hilly Sad Do you think they've made a mistake or is it just an appeal to have done everything you possibly can? (Or not ICS)

GiddyOnZackHunt · 16/04/2015 13:03

Relieved to say we got our first choice! After having had to appeal to get our oldest into that school I didn't want to be that parent twice.
Sympathies to everyone who hasn't been lucky.

pineappleshortbread · 16/04/2015 13:04

Were extremely pleased as we got our first choice which means we got 1 of 2 places in our chosen schools speech and language programme. Best day ever

meg76uk · 16/04/2015 13:12

In London (Tower Hamlets), nothing from LEA yet...but have just had a letter through the post from our 4th choice offering DS a place. Not thrilled, its a more awkward commute and I was surprised that we hadn't got any of the first 3, though still a good school. BUT--rang first choice to be told that they have him on their list! Rang LEA, they too have him at higher choice. Have rung letter-school and waiting on the admission person's lunch break. Good lord, this is all approaching farce!

Gileswithachainsaw · 16/04/2015 13:13

thrilled to see more good news.

sorry to hear you had a bad result though hilly

really sucks :(

Gileswithachainsaw · 16/04/2015 13:14

And pineapple

that's bloody brilliant. so happy for you as I'm. assuming places are hard to come by for s&l.

pineappleshortbread · 16/04/2015 13:16

Yes giles they are im in exeter and our choice was the only one in the city that has a speech and language centre attached so i have been biting my nails since thw application especially as we are out of the catchment area

RunningKatie · 16/04/2015 13:17

Sorry to hear that Hilly, we're Sheffield too but i'm guessing you are west of the city. I've been trying to download the over-subscribed info because i am nosey but can't get it to download on my phone.

MrsHathaway · 16/04/2015 13:22

?! Wtf meg? Bet you're glad you rang! What a farce.

Does the waiting remind anyone of being pregnant and overdue and every other phone call, fb comment or message from people is being asked if its happened yet?

Have you found out the school yet?

meg76uk · 16/04/2015 13:42

Thanks--first three choices are all actually campuses (campii?) of the same free school, 4th is Catholic school. He SEEMS to have got into second choice campus of free school (we don't actually care which of them he gets into). All are established; so far it appears to be a mistake on the part of the Catholic school, LEA guy says they may have the wrong list. Like this isn't nerve-wracking enough...I'm dying here. Just waiting until I can accept SOMETHING. We go to the Catholic church, it's just further away and not as posh; free school has longer days, longer holidays, building new building, just more appealing. But either way I can't complain excessively as no terrible options.

fluffymouse · 16/04/2015 13:48

Well done Meg, that sounds like good Jews, even if it is a roundabout way of finding out.

I'm surprised you have heard anything being in London. I'm still counting down the hours to 5pm!

DaniAlvez · 16/04/2015 13:50

Just had the email in West Sussex. We got our first choice so very happy!

pineappleshortbread · 16/04/2015 13:56

Turns out my offer was for a mainstream place the special educational team dont decide whether my ds get his speech place for another couple of weeks so the wait begins again for me Sad

Gileswithachainsaw · 16/04/2015 13:59

Oh no pine that's ridiculous they have to string it out. You have to accept the place by end of April so what happens if you don't know by then?

meg76uk · 16/04/2015 14:00

Letter was postmarked on the 14th but dated the 16th. All strange; nothing official yet, obviously.

pineappleshortbread · 16/04/2015 14:05

No idea giles i guess ill have to accept it and hope for the best maybe i could see if there are spells that can get you school places lol ??

TheNumberfaker · 16/04/2015 14:06

Yayy. DD2 has got first choice (with older sister there). We're only a third of a mile away, so well within catchment too but such a relief to get the email. The town I live in expanded schools places by at least 30 the year before DD1's admission so unless you put the supposedly best school in the centre of town as first choice, you are guaranteed to get what you want.
