Is anyone else dying to find out which school they have been allocated?

This is for my PFB which makes it extra difficult for me :(

I can't talk about it in real life as it starts off as a nice casual conversation ending with some delusions of grandeur PFB nonsense Blush

We only have to wait til April the 1stGrin
I'm really glad rhat we find I to during the easter holidays as there's been a bit of stroppiness at Playschool due to the large amount of siblings this year meaning some catchment children won't get in as out of catchment siblings have priority. Ds2 hopefully has a place due to sibling rule but stressing that I hae done something wrong on the form or something!!

MTWTFSS · 24/03/2015 17:14

bear That is not fair to tar everyone with the same brush!!! There are plenty of honest people that are out of catchment area for one reason or another!

BrieAndChilli Which part of the country finds out on April 1st? Will the first email you receive be an April fools joke?

Sorry yes of course there are lots of reasons why people have to move, but that is why LAs often brought the rule in. In our neighbouring LA lots end up with children at two schools as the moved to cheaper areas and then the sibling priority changed

BrieAndChilli · 24/03/2015 19:10

We are in monmouthshire.

Gileswithachainsaw · 24/03/2015 19:20

If the lists are done why can't we have the answer Sad

bearwithspecs · 24/03/2015 19:59

Sadly they have to wait for everyone to be ready - allowing for the enormous LAs like London etc. the single offer day ensures everyone finds out at once

Bunnyjo · 24/03/2015 20:03

In my LA (Cumbria) allocations are not finalised until this Friday.

MTWTFSS · 24/03/2015 20:04

Wales are so lucky finding out 2 weeks early!!

Giles - I agree they should just tell us!

So near yet so far.

I truly can't stand it.
worth it if I get my first choice but by god it's painful

MrsGannicus · 24/03/2015 21:25

Lucky you Brie! Wish we could all find out on April 1st. The thght of the lists just being ready and waiting for the 16th seems so unfair. Trying to focus on planning stuff for the Easter weekend to keep busy!

ShadowStone · 24/03/2015 21:47

There's a secondary school near us where they've just been doing a public consultation on significantly changing the catchment area. The proposed changes would move a pretty large chunk of the previous properties in the catchment area into a second, lower priority, area.

Prioritizing catchment PFB's over non-catchment siblings could hit the families who've been cut out of the catchment area hard through no doing of theirs if the proposed changes go through.

BrieAndChilli · 24/03/2015 22:21

Shadow - you're not in monmouthshire are you? We've just had a public consultation on changing the catchment areas for lots of secondary's in the county. We've now been told that after listening to the parents they will not be changing catchment. I think it's more to do with the fact that thy were told by Welsh assembly that they would have to honour all existing transport u time students leave school as well S provide new transport for new catchments which would cosh them millions!!!

ShadowStone · 24/03/2015 22:57

No, in England.

MTWTFSS · 25/03/2015 08:08

Good morning ladies :) 22 days to go...

It's just dragging for us?? Just trying to keep myself busy, the Easter holidays should take my mid off it, well hopefully lol x

Gileswithachainsaw · 25/03/2015 08:51

Morning Smile

I lasted til 8.00 without thinking about it

OsmiumPhazer · 25/03/2015 13:49

Yes nerves in my household too

Gileswithachainsaw · 25/03/2015 13:51

hi os

so nice that people are still joining for the counts down.

Sure we all feel better knowing there are others Smile

Almostapril · 25/03/2015 13:54

We are not in the lottery this year but are surrounded by people who are. I feel anxious for them. Lots are at our school nursery now but I know lots who are right in the distance cut off zone - where some years they would get in and others they wouldn't. We scraped in last year and I was a wreck for weeks before hand. Good luck all

PenguinsandtheTantrumofDoom · 25/03/2015 14:09

Thinking of you all. We were there two years ago (sibling this year). Hang in there!

redautumnleaves · 25/03/2015 14:14

Reading this thread gives me flashbacks to last year. I actually got my 3rd place school BUT this turned out to be a massive blessing as I, and more importantly my dd, LOVE it and now if I had to do the application again I would put the school we are at top. I consider myself and my dd extremely lucky to have not got my first 2 choices.
Good luck to everyone waiting this years allocation.

MrsGannicus · 25/03/2015 22:13

That's reassuring to hear redautumnleaves. Definitely a good point to focus on if we don't get our first choice.

DuelingFanjo · 25/03/2015 22:53

I am in Wales and we find out on 16th April.

MTWTFSS · 26/03/2015 07:53

3 weeks!!!

Maybe it is just in Monmouthshire or it is an April Fool's Joke and they also find out on the 16th :)
