Is anyone else dying to find out which school they have been allocated?

This is for my PFB which makes it extra difficult for me :(

I can't talk about it in real life as it starts off as a nice casual conversation ending with some delusions of grandeur PFB nonsense Blush

Thanks tiggy as suspected. I put one out of 4 local schools to the left of my house. 2 streets over to right but within mile are 5schools all different county as we slap bang on border. In fact some other county residents are nearer to 1st choice and 3rd choice as both schools within my la but closw to border.

The other local authority under no obligation offer me place.

Also my own county offered me an unworkable place so they done their duty.

Rock and hard place spring to mind.

I could just about do 2 schools if time and distance worked.2 schools other county near eldest school not great hence they have spaces but feel home ed best option there is.

Does anyone remember measuring toll in primary was like hard stick with big rotating circle to measure distance maybe we all need one walk straight line door to door.

Some.schools have like 2 or 3 hates. Guess they just use reception.

I know lots people same street offered wildly different schools some wish they could swop.

I expect if none of choices be offered same as before or somewhere more obscure and random 3 schools spring to mind that would be under most are over as most people want any school..

In fact school a nearest one I dislike mostly full of kids from another county trying avoid their bad schools grass is always greener.

I looked around few schools people raved about ans dident feel the love it's like houses.

Some people accepted allocated school and are happy but every families different and accepting school would have been unfair all 3kids and worn them out.

I'm holding out for school 1.will prepare appeal soon for day and ask nursery if they keep do longer.

Hello everyone. yes I'm. craving crap too just so nervous here. got email this morning reminding us all so at least that means they received my application I guess

prh47bridge · 13/04/2015 09:30

Yes, it is called a trundle wheel and they do still exist.

There is no way an appeal panel would accept a distance measured with a trundle wheel over the LA's measurement. LAs use computerised systems that produce very accurate measurements - far more accurate than is possible any other way. You can only successfully challenge the LA's distance measurement if they have measured from the wrong house or, for schools that don't use straight line distance, they have used the wrong route.

If a school is its own admission authority I would check how they get their distance measurements. Most ask the LA to provide the distances and are therefore highly accurate. I did, however, come across a school in London a few years ago that was using a ruler and the London A-Z map...

Hello! I have come to this thread a bit late! I am itching to find out what school DD has been assigned. There are 3 real possibilities and when we visited the one that the majority of people in my estate go to we hated it. On the facbook page for our areas everyone sings its praises but it was not pleasant, not least of which the little boy who had wedged himself between a bookshelf and the wall crying and no body spotted him Sad. the 3 schools are part of the same academy but vastly different. I SOOO want DD's first choice. The main school doesn't have any before or after school care either. Our second choice school does using an attached day nursery but only provides a 2 hour a day holiday club. Our first choice has it all. We only put 2 choices down as we hated the other school that much.

Tenterhooks time!

If DD does not get into the school of choice but then a place becomes free would she be in with an offer or would be specifically have to register iyswim?

Some areas also run a 'second round' . ie they collate all the rejections and house moves until a set date and then do a big round of new offers. Smile

TiedUpWithString · 13/04/2015 15:27

Ooh, so there are possibilities; thank you! Although the class sizes at our preferred school are really small and last year, a lot went to siblings. Fingers crossed.

MTWTFSS · 13/04/2015 15:27
