Is anyone else dying to find out which school they have been allocated?

This is for my PFB which makes it extra difficult for me :(

I can't talk about it in real life as it starts off as a nice casual conversation ending with some delusions of grandeur PFB nonsense Blush

With ours I'm sure if you did it online you get to know on the 14th.

Gileswithachainsaw · 08/04/2015 16:09

ours is q 6th online and letters get sent out. so I'm assuming you'd find out on the 17th/18th if you did the paper form

mine is 4pm.

I have responded to the mumsnet thread.

BrieAndChilli · 08/04/2015 18:39

No the letters will get sent out so they ARRIVE on the 16th, they always have here.
I opted for email confirmation but everyone regardless of how they chose to find out could log on from midnight and find out. I then received a letter in the post that day even though I had opted for email.

Do you know if you can find out how many applied to the school this year compared to previous years?

Almostapril · 08/04/2015 19:04

Nanny in our area that info is posted on the web site on national offers day too - under a question section about how places were allocated

Nannyplum2015 · 08/04/2015 19:07

Thank you almostapril. I was hoping the info would be available before so I had an idea of how likely we are to get in.

Nanny - we are relocating so ended up looking at 4 LEAs as was trying to be strategic about it and look for schools we had a chance of getting into based on prior trends and all things being equal (although one off bulge classes can distort some of the figures, but it is interesting to see the change between years of furthest distance etc).

For one it was easy to find on the website, for another I emailed and they sent it to me same day, for another they did not have the data in the format I asked for but 2 days later had put it together to send to me and one just refused - probably because we wanted to apply from overseas.

It's too late now anyway as I don't think you can change your preferences at this stage? Will still be interesting to see the data for this year though and if my plan has worked or not - eeek!

Almostapril · 08/04/2015 22:29

Nanny lots of LAs give it for the previous years so you can guess your chances when applying. I had printed off the previous few years. We only just got in however as our school distance was the smallest ever. Other schools had gone up from 2 to 3 forms so distances went up etc!

Gileswithachainsaw · 08/04/2015 22:43

I found my first choice schools previous allocations. based on them it would have loomed good for all previous years.

but then the yr dd didn't get the school we originally wanted it was the first yr they were so over subscribed that no one outside of catchment besides church people got in.

I really hope history doesn't repeat itself

keepitsimple0 · 08/04/2015 22:50

but then the yr dd didn't get the school we originally wanted it was the first yr they were so over subscribed that no one outside of catchment besides church people got in.

don't you just love mass discrimination by large institutions? Ok, rant over.

we are in the same boat. DD1 missed, even though she would have gotten in previous years. the next year there was a bulge class so there is no chance for DD2.

rumours have it mass cheating is going on to get children into the local hot schools, which I wouldn't doubt.

Gileswithachainsaw · 08/04/2015 22:52

Well yes I do, considering the school on my doorstep is a faith school and ergo we stand no chance.

It's so near I could almost throw dd there.

But instead my catchment is the shit school over half a mile away.

Gileswithachainsaw · 08/04/2015 22:52

Can you report the suspected fraudsters?
