Good sized market town;
Nice countryside but near large town/city;
Excellent primary schools, stretching;
Some choice of private schools;
Able to walk to school instead of drive;
Pretty town, aesthetically pleasing;
Refined feel to the area;
1 and a half hours commute to London.

Can anyone help me name this town? Or does it not exist? Thank you!

NettleTea · 08/06/2012 00:14

Battle.
Near Tunbridge Wells
Driveable to Lewes and Brighton
Hastings Old town and St leonards quirky and eclectic (once you step over the drunks - disclaimer I lived there for 10 years.......)
Village schools and private, and one of the best comprehensives for secondary

tho if you stay in Tun Wells there are grammar schools.....

poorbuthappy · 08/06/2012 00:16

Posher than Ledbury, very good State secondary and private schools.

Lemington Spa is lovely, no idea about schools.

Eastbourne, the Old Town. Choice of outstanding schools. Very pretty. Exactly one and a half hour train to London.

threeleftfeet · 08/06/2012 01:04

Although I should say choice of outstanding primaries, no idea about the secondaries, that's years off for us!
