Primary school places !!!

Is anyone getting nervous for the primary school places next week? It's all I can thunk about now , the 18th simply can't get here soon enough , I would be happy if my DS got any of his 3 choices but does anyone have any idea of his chances if getting in one of them if they are all within a radius if one and a half miles from our home. My ideal choice would his first choice which is a catholic school which is 0.6 miles from home but is always oversubscribed, we attend mass every week and had all forms signed by the priest etc but don't know how much of a chance he has if getting it , any advice would be great as am worrying alot now the date is getting nearer.

Thanks for reading and sorry for rambling xxx

Yup AThingInYourLife my postman is starting to fear me Grin No-one I know has heard anything yet, so am just waiting until tomorrow.

Dd1s school is moving to a new build in September so think that it is part of it, its a Catholic school in a "mixed" Grin area where more Catholics are moving into and it has great teachers and a fab Principal not my cup of tea but he's good at his job and according to the grapevine very much in demand Grin

I can I ask a quick question to those who have already got you results?

Was the email in you inbox at midnight?

Mine are due Friday but if this is the case then it means I can find out tomorrow night! :)

sunnyday123 · 18/04/2012 15:04

my lea just says monday 'evening' - does that mean 5pm?

pickofthepops · 18/04/2012 15:13

Another Surrey mum who put down schools the other side of Surrey as was moving, but plans not doable and now selling and renting interim in original area. Bet I have been allocated somewhere not v good and miles away. Wish I had put one here as one of the three choices just in case, what a muppet I am. Really interested to know if anyone knows similar story with a marginally successful outcome. Bit miffed with surrey who told me exceptional circumstances such as this meant I could have changed my press during February. Not what I was told on phone twice! Bugger!

90 mins....

DamonSalvatoreIsMyLoveSlave · 18/04/2012 15:37

Our places arnt emailed out until the 1st May. But I remember that with my first dc, 2 years ago, I got the email at about 10.30am the day it was due because it was just after I had had a scan (so I remember the time well!). Thats Cambridgeshire though. May be different in other areas.

MrsCarriePooter · 18/04/2012 15:40

see Gwendoline - you're capturing my dilemma. I finish work at 5, with an hour commute and then bath and bedtime ... do I hang around here and log on at 5, and then the temptation to wait until five past, ten past... or do I just head for home and pop with anticipation on the way?

GwendolineMaryLacey · 18/04/2012 15:43

If it was me, I'd have to hang on. As you may be able to tell, I have zero patience though Blush. Assuming your children won't be left sitting on the doorstep starving and shivering that is...

PoppyWearer · 18/04/2012 16:04

Is it still only 4? How is that possible? I've kept myself really busy today and everything...roll on 8pm!

halcyondays · 18/04/2012 16:07

I'm in NI and got the letter today so they must have been posted yesterday. I saw the postman coming round when I was leaving the house to pick up dd2 from nursery this morning, and it was there when we got back. Luckily she's got into the same school as dd1. I didn't think there would be a problem, as siblings get priority and I didn't think there were going to be so many siblings that she wouldn't get a place, but it was still nice to get the letter confirming her place.

Has nobody else heard anything yet?

learnandsay · 18/04/2012 16:10

Poppy, you've got time for a half marathon. It'll take your mind off things too.

sunnyday123 · 18/04/2012 16:19

i have just emailed LEA to ask what time out system goes live monday, she replied but within message was a forward from a boss saying "can i pass this lady into your care as i wont be here next week to help" - i guess that means i haven't got DD2 into the same school as DD1

Im so gutted :( Not sure how i can manage 2 schools and even more gutted that i cant find any more info til next week when it becomes official :(

wigglesrock · 18/04/2012 16:21

No halcyondays but no-one I know has either. Lucky Duck.

halcyondays · 18/04/2012 16:29

They must have all been posted out yesterday, so you should get them tomorrow. They always post them all at the same time, don't they?

PoppyWearer · 18/04/2012 16:38

learnandsay Pre-DCs I'd have been up for a half-marathon. I'll pass this time, if it's all the same.

PeppermintCreams · 18/04/2012 16:48

Sunnyday123 - I might have missed something, but I don't think the email means anything about your choice of school. Just that the manager is on holiday? (What sort of manager goes on holiday during their busy week?!) She might be worried that now you've got a name of someone in the schools department you might email her directly next week (rather than going to switchboard) with questions and not get any reply. Good luck! x

BrainSurgeon · 18/04/2012 16:51

Oh just checked the council website, it says we'll find out "the evening of the 18th April" - what's that supposed to mean..... I know I'll end up checking every bloody 30 min

farbol · 18/04/2012 16:55

Help please! I don't expect to hear about DD1 placement until Friday (we are in Glos), but my sister heard today about places for her TWINS .... They have got places in different schools, 20 miles apart! They live in north Essex. How can this happen?! What sort if looney thought it was a good idea? What do we do now? Ggrrrrr.

4goingon14 · 18/04/2012 17:05

Hmmm 5pm and nothing yet....6pm??? Later...which it was more clear. Wine

GwendolineMaryLacey · 18/04/2012 17:06

Yesssss! Got first choice. :o :o :o

MrsCarriePooter · 18/04/2012 17:06

SECOND CHOICE - I'm ok with that. Thank goodness.

hf128219 · 18/04/2012 17:08

Check the PAN site for SURREY - they are there.

gateacre1 · 18/04/2012 17:09

Second choice.
No idea how I will arrange child care
We are 10 metres outside the catchment from our nearest school
Never mind

PeppermintCreams · 18/04/2012 17:09

We got our first choice school. Hope everyone gets the results they want. :)

NoWayNoHow · 18/04/2012 17:12

BrainSurgeon are you in Richmond too? "Evening" is a nonsense time frame! Could be 5pm, could be 10pm - I need definite deadlines or my brain is going to pop!!
