I don’t know why another thread hasn’t been created yet , so here you go. Now as we prep ourselves to the peak of this pandemic, let’s all face it together and appreciate how fragile our lives are and how we need each other to survive and flourish.

@BlackeyedSusan the advice on the government website is that it's ok to go out for exercise as long as you stay away from others. The communal area makes it a bit more awkward, but hopefully ok if your wash your hands well immediately before going?

Does anyone else find it strange how little info is coming out of China now? It was all over the news a few weeks ago how they were getting on. I guess now it’s focusing on the U.K. and Europe as the virus is here but it would really useful to see how China are doing as they’re further ahead than us. One thing in particular I’m interested in is whether the virus can reinfect or if you have some immunity after you’ve had it once.

OverTheRainbowLiesOz · 18/03/2020 21:32

When do you think a lock down will happen?

MrsWhites · 18/03/2020 21:38

Also very reassured by @VenetoResident accounts of life in Italy, although a terrible situation that we may yet face it’s good to see how others are coping.

Super scary figures regarding health workers, this is why testing these people in the U.K. is so important.

Has anyone else seen that national trust gardens will be free of charge from Friday. Will be nice to get some fresh air for those of us that aren’t in self isolation. I think for the time being I am still happy to go to open air places like this. It’s supermarkets I fear at the moment, and not just because of the virus but because of the behaviour of people!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/03/2020 21:43

It's those few minutes when you very first wake up, before you remember what is happening that is the nicest part of the day at the moment.

I've had a rough day emotionally, it's hard to do the crying that is needed when your house is small and others are struggling to cope.

Enough4me · 18/03/2020 21:45

I have read the thread since the beginning and the Brexit prep information. So glad I have prepped as I work in education and today have developed symptoms, lungs are tightening and temperature rising. I feel really out of breath. I felt panic earlier today, but paracetamol has taken edge off temperature and I feel determined to not get overwhelmed.

Thank you to those who keep these threads going and who encourage forward planning. If I had not put a small amount back over the past few weeks I would feel seriously stressed now.

HasaDigaEebowai · 18/03/2020 21:47

If you’re in isolation with symptoms you are not allowed out. You are not even supposed to answer your door

Enough4me · 18/03/2020 21:53

Hasa - is that a reply to me?
Since developing symptoms today I am now isolating with my DC and have emailed my neighbours, work and friends to say we are isolating. Happy to have food and medicine in through reading the preppers thread, so we will be ok in lockdown!

I do not plan to open the door, if the bell goes I am going to talk from an upstairs window.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/03/2020 21:55

Get well soon Enough.

MrsWhites · 18/03/2020 21:56

Hope you get well soon Enough4me! (won’t let me tag you).

pasanda · 18/03/2020 22:04

Kitten. I hope you have a better day tmrw.
DD is in yr 11 and absolutely hates school. But is determined to go in tmrw. She has a 10 min business studies pitch which counts towards her final grade at 10am. But is so upset that her last day at school ever is tmrw. Just like that. No exams, prom, leaving day. It's just so sad. Sad
After a stressful few hours I've managed to book ds a flight tmrw night. Trying to sort it between 3 sets of parents and 3 drunk teens on a beach has not been fun. They have a hell of a journey and I won't relax til he's on British soil.
Luckily I've prepped thanks to this thread but didn't factor in a 6th mouth to feed (he left in January).

pasanda · 18/03/2020 22:06

Enough - I hope you're ok 🤞

preponderings · 18/03/2020 22:07

I'm a SAHM normally. I'm missing my time terribly.

Yes!! This and it's only day 3. We did our first day of proper school work and they have sent DS so much compared to DD. I spent the whole morning running between DC's bedrooms trying to keep them quiet and doing work whilst DH worked in the main room. Doing washing, a spot of cleaning and getting lunch. Then the same in the afternoon. Left them alone for an hour to do my physio exercises, for dinner, kids to bed. Then DH stormed off in a temper because the kids had left the socks (which they sorted) on "his" section of the sofa. Complained I was making noise and slammed off to bed. I had to print the DC's work for tomorrow and scan what they did today. Couldn't do it during the day because he was working on the computer Hmm . At least we're still allowed out of the house, although I hear rumours it will change on Friday. I'm not sure I will last to the end of the week! Not quite sure when I can clean as I'm not to make noise when he's working and only minimal lights on or noise once the Dc are in bed.

Veneto what's the deal with communal gardens in a curfew? We're in a flat, could I still take the DC to our garden? Or my cellar, which in a twist of fate is in the basement of the neighbouring building rather than ours.

Get well soon to all those feeling ill

Whatthefoxgoingon · 18/03/2020 22:11

Checking in

RaininSummer · 18/03/2020 22:20

If you are actually ill then you do not go out. Ni contact ideally with anybody .

I too am glad of the Preppers thread. I am also glad that the lighter evenings are coming and hopefully nicer weather so can sit in the backyard at least. Will plant tomato seeds this weekend.

HasaDigaEebowai · 18/03/2020 22:21

hasa - is that a reply to me?

Oops no sorry it was to a pp who asked if you can go out to exercise when isolating with symptoms. The answer is no. You can go out to exercise if you are in precautionary isolation (over 70 etc) but not at all if you are in isolation with symptoms

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/03/2020 22:37

Gin for all.

Enough4me · 18/03/2020 22:38

Hasa no problem, I think it was a good point to raise.

I am seriously up for a full lockdown to prevent spread, my lungs feel heavy like a weight on them and constricted and this is day 1 for me. I will sleeping upright tonight. I'm not a super fit person, but definitely in a normally healthy category: good diet, walk regularly, no health issues. I would not want my elderly family or neighbours to get this.

JustMeAndMyTins · 18/03/2020 22:59

Dh is trying not to worry and is worrying about his failure to avoid worrying.

Can’t remember who posted this but I am this DH. My failure to rein in my anxiety is giving me as much anxiety as the actual virus!

BlackeyedSusan · 18/03/2020 23:02

They are considering putting London on lockdown. Poor sods.

KatyMac · 18/03/2020 23:02

DD & her boyfriend unexpectedly moved home this afternoon: so my preps have to stretch to another 2 - and they are both veggie - which I really hadn't planned on

They are social distancing but not self isolating like us - not sure how this will work - we need to increase our internet/broadband (do you think they will let us do a month at a time - I don't want to pay for a whole year of superfast broadband) and have arranged a games hour tomorrow & planned a bike ride for the 4 of us

But it's a bit of a shock

JustMeAndMyTins · 18/03/2020 23:03

@Enough4me Thinking healing thoughts for you. And everyone who is suffering with this. Or anything else. Rest up.

Thanks to all of you for this space. My real life is devoid of anyone who understands my stress around this.

georgedawes · 18/03/2020 23:04

I have prepped for a lot, but if the electric or water go off, we're fucked. Any ideas how likely this is?
