Prepping For Pandemic..... 11

Thread 11.

This prepping for a pandemic pack was posted one one of the previous threads, I thought I’d post for this thread as there’s more people joining the threads. I had a quick scan through the last couple of thread to find a list that’s been posted a few times but couldn’t find it. The pack seems a bit end of days in some parts buts it’s got some useful ideas.

Pandemic Preparedness Pack

The Emotional Prep thread started by @Neome might be worth a look for those of us feeling anxious as things ramp up.

Also attached a screenshot of a post on previous threads by @blackeyesusan (hope you don’t mind) with storage ideas for those of us living in smaller homes.

OK here is a tricky one, I tried asking it on the property board but did not get much of a response.

I am part way into a house purchase, haven't spent much yet. Would complete in about a month.

I have a few concerns, CV germs potentially being in the new property, use of removal people touching all my things, state of the economy by then and potential crash, and state of house prices meaning ending up in negative equity if this got very bad.

Anyone else in a similar boat, how would you approach this?

On the plus side, a bigger house with lots more room for preps GrinBlush

@CookiesAreForEatingNotStoring So sorry to read your message. (Apologies if I have terribly timed my posts as it doesn’t refresh that quickly here) There are some lovely people on here who can shower you with support, strength and love.

Soap bars: Aldi. Soap is ok for general use. If your undercarriage is feeling a little delicate, dove is less stingy on mucous membranes and delicate skin. Especially valuable for those who are about to give birth.

rhij86 · 06/03/2020 14:01

@MoonlightMistletoe I was about to post that - that will be a nightmare to try and contain as imagine how many bags they have handled! unless they wear gloves?

YoursTunbridgeWells · 06/03/2020 14:02

@CookiesAreForEatingNotStoring I am so so sorry to hear that. The timing of this is clearly extra diffcult. Focus on what's most important right now. If you need help with shopping/food/ etc. do ask friends and family for help.

TipseyTorvey · 06/03/2020 14:02

Strength and love to you Cookie. This is not what you need right now. Fingers crossed treatment works swiftly.

Justmum89 · 06/03/2020 14:03

Thoughts with you cookie ❤ sending you strength in this difficult time

CookiesAreForEatingNotStoring · 06/03/2020 14:04

I’m ridiculously touched by all your replies.

Thank you.

Although I haven’t posted, as I said, I’ve been lurking for months, so feel very welcomed. We haven’t got many answers yet, just lots of questions. Deep breaths.

I hate the fact that we are going to have to go to the big busy hospital for our county at least 35 times in the next 8 weeks. I had prepped, but not for this.

He is Mr Upbeat, which is great, I adore his positivity, but needs a bit of realism too.

Our son was born in the midst of Swine Flu and we all caught it when he was about 10 weeks old. Horrendous. His respiratory consultant can’t confirm that it was that that initiated his low immunity, brittle asthma and consequent medical issues, but says it is likely.

We caught Flu A last winter and I ended up in hospital with pneumonia and pleurisy.

I was anticipating shutting us in and riding this out, but it’s all changed today.

It just goes to show, you can prep all you like, but when what you are prepping for changes, you have to change too.

Oh well back to waiting for today’s 2pm update.

sideorderofchips · 06/03/2020 14:05

Sending you love cookies xx

ofwarren · 06/03/2020 14:07

Did you manage to purchase any masks cookies? Might be a good thing to wear to hospital.

Heartyhooker · 06/03/2020 14:09

@CookiesAreForEatingNotStoring send g hugs have no helpful words

RageAgainst84 · 06/03/2020 14:09

@Boreda I guessed it would be 200 by this weekend and I think at least 1,000 next weekend judging by how it escalated in Italy

☹️

YoursTunbridgeWells · 06/03/2020 14:10

@magicrainbowbeans There's no easy answer to that. I think there are a number of factors to consider - your job security, size of mortgage, whether this is a one-off property or whether it would be easy to find something similar, how much you might lose if you pull out now and how signifcant that is to you and also your age and health status.

Things which I wouldn't worry about - CV germs in house and the actual move itself. Diluted bleach / deep cleaning could see to all that. Or you could hire a van and get some mates and move stuff yourself.

itsnotjustflu · 06/03/2020 14:10

Oh gosh!! :( that's a big increase

RageAgainst84 · 06/03/2020 14:11

Are there any more details on locations? The bloody country is no effing use!
