Hi everyone!

Well, I got my BFP on Friday morning and it is only just starting to sink in! According to my dates I am due 2nd Feb and I thought it would be nice to have a Feb babies thread, where we can all share our news/worries/excitement!

Cant wait to hear from you

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
newdad75 · 17/06/2010 16:07

Hey All,

Been off the thread for awhile and taken pretty much all of the last 2 days to catch up. Glad to see all the newbies. Can't believe the numbers are up over 65 now! Will take forever to update all the stats.

Can I also say from a mans point of view the last few comments from caramellokoalalover, tabbycat76 and nicb79 definitely explains a lot...

GinaFB · 17/06/2010 16:16

Deliaskis I Am the same this afternoon! Ran a Jewellery party last night and was on my feet until late after a full day at work so extra tired today, also very emotional and want to cry but figure thats a mixture of exhaustion and hormones....!

MrsTeapot207 · 17/06/2010 18:15

Honeywitch - kittens! How absolutely wonderful! Oh that's such a nice thought - and chickens too? You must have such a fecund household!

Tabbycat - (close your eyes, Newdad) DO NOT tell your husband, but I seem to be extremely frisky at the moment? I'm putting it down to being only 6 weeks into marriage, (the previous million years together arent' counted!)BUT I don't have excruciatingly sore boobs, I'm not too tired, and I'm not feeling sick, so maybe there's just some exciting things happening in that downstairs area that are causing more blood flow, or something? Mr Teapot is most satisfied with the level of romance at the moment, but this, alas, may well diminish as I get fatter...

Lulabel - American banks, in my experience, do not have a good reputation for being family friendly. Imagine if you had to ask for time off because Titch was sick, or you wanted to go to the school play, and leave early. They'd be bar-stewards, wouldn't they? Their treatment of you now is a big warning, and I think you've been spared from a miserable fate. Your dream job is still waiting for you...keep your pecker up!

smallblackflowers · 17/06/2010 19:45

Lulabel so sorry to hear about your job. What a load of bastards!

Honeywitch Yummy, scrummy kittens, I love kittens, and chickens have regularly been asking DH if we can keep chickens, but he always says no. Which is probably the most sensible answer bearing in mind the size of our garden!

As for me, after puking 3 times this morning, and feeling so terrible that all I could do was lie down, and that still didn't stop me from feeling like I was going to faint / throw up again, I managed to get an emergency appointment with my doc. I can't cope with feeling so ill and taking proper care of my 15mo DD, so have been prescribed some medication that should take the edge off my sickness. Will report back tomorrow.

As you have probably guessed, sex is definitely not on the menu here at the moment.

So every time I smell food or eat I have an internal voice saying "any signs of morning sickness yet? does that make you feel queezy? what about now the food has arrived? and now that someone elses has? what about that first mouthful? what about after"

Lulabel27 · 17/06/2010 22:00

Hi All
Thank you all so much for your encouraging and thoughful comments! It must be my hormones but I have a tear in my eye reading everyones notes

GinaGB I've not heard from midwife at all so not sure if 10 weeks is normal or not. GP said today I should be next seen at 12 week scan?

Canoe "jesus heals" sounds scary! Glad you seem to have found a good GP!

Pebblestone Great to hear you took the job and really hope it goes well for you. Love the name pebble too

Tabbycat76 thank you for your thoughts and mutual pi55ed offness! Thats rubbish about your hospital it's so annoying they don't see past "pregnant lady" alert but I guess that's life...

Honeywitch, angels1, mrsteapot thank you all and my mum agrees with you its a blessing in disguise and I should be happy I'm not working there. Congratulations on the kittens honeywitch!! So cute!

newdad great to see you back
knitternottwitter great news re: heartbeat so pleased for you
smallblackflowers so sorry to hear you're feeling so sick I hope you feel better soon

Phew sorry for the long post everyone! Night night fellow mummies (and daddy) to be

tadjennyp · 18/06/2010 05:55

Had a scan today in light of last week's bleeding and discovered that I am only 6+1 which means my cycle must have started after my period finished! I will update my stats as it appears I said I was 36 - just wishful thinking! I'm 37 and now due on Feb 9th!

Hope everyone has a lovely Friday, but I'm going to bed now (it's 10pm here!) Night!

tabbycat76 · 18/06/2010 09:08

Morning everyone!

5 weeks and 2 days today and I'm managing meals absolutely fine, no hint of smells causing me to wretch or to turn my nose up. No vomiting either yet. Infact call me completely mad but this morning I actually did a third test!!!!! Just to see again it saying pregnant and to check if the CB test had advanced it's weeks..... which I was relieved to see it had! It accurately said 5+ weeks so the trip to the GP on Monday to report our pregnancy will be for real and not imaginary! Ha, how we worry!

Hope everyone else is fine and feeling well.

angels1 · 18/06/2010 09:33

Morning Tabbycat76 - enjoy your symptomlessness (if that is infact a word!). I'm very jealous

I have a really thick question that my brain just can't work out for you all. I knwo the answer must be obvious. I get really muddled by the weeks in pregnancy and knowing how many weeks I am.

For example, If I got my period on the first day of, say, May, then one the first day of June I would be 4 weeks pregnant (??). So on 3rd of June, am I 4 1/2 weeks or am I 5 weeks when I look at the stuff in my book? Because I'm into week 5 of pregnancy, but I'm 4 1/2 weeks pregnant. I just get a bit muddled what stage I'm at, and I knwo this should be easy to work out!

sweetnitanitro · 18/06/2010 09:54

tabby I have been fairly symptom-free apart from being shattered and throwing up once. I am a bit worried by it but IIRC it all started when I was about 7 weeks along last time around.

angels1 in medical notes they put the number of weeks then the number of days so today I am 5+2, is that what you mean?

PDR · 18/06/2010 10:03

I wasn't planning on telling anyone yet but I went out with my 2 best friends yesterday and all our kids and one asked me if AF had arrived yet (they know we were trying whilst on holiday) and I couldn't lie to her face so I told them

Noone else though! Must learn to keep my mouth shut! They have both been sworn to secrecy!!!

GinaFB · 18/06/2010 10:06

Hello ladies! How are you all today! Hope that those suffering with the dreaded MS are coping ok.

tabby not many symptons here, just very hormonal and tired by about 4pm!! Also HUGE boobs!!

angels1 the way I understand it it works like this. Say first day of last period was 1st May, by the end of your cycle (say 28 days) you would be 4 weeks. So working on that timescale today would be 6+6 so in your 7th week. Tomorrow would be exactly 7 weeks and you start week 8!

That is how I understand it but I could be wrong!!

LalZee83 · 18/06/2010 10:14

Hello again!

Well after almost an entire week of feeling absolutely horrendous, I can now update!

Missed monday and tuesday off work - I was just completely green and exhausted. Went in on Weds afternoon and that has become my pattern since - I manage to leave the house around 12.30 and get into work 45mins later. Told my boss yesterday who was very supportive. Also told my closest colleague and she has been an absolute star.

As for cures, well I am not 100% certain about the wristbands as I dont think I was placing them in exactly the right place, also they are VERY tight and was concerned they would affect my circulation.
Nevasic however, seems to be working... slowly!!
I still feel like I need to barf at around 6am but I try and listen to it as soon as I can and it has now been a few days and I am not even heaving today which believe me is a big step forward!!
Also recommned flat coke and M&S ginger cookies - the big ones that come in a tray with a green packet. Trying to nibble them throughout the day and they seem to stay down.
I wish I hadn't worried about my lack of symptoms last week, I have really paid the price this week!
Also more lower back, period-style cramps.
And my face looks like I am about 15 again- spotty like hell!

Anyone else really suffering - rachelpross and smallblackflowers - give the Nevasic a go, www.nevasic.com - they have a CD you can buy if you dont have an iPhone and also you can download it to play on an iPod.
Hope it helps.

Good health to all!
xx

GinaFB · 18/06/2010 10:16

Typical after posting my message I am now starting to feel sick.....

sweetnitanitro · 18/06/2010 12:00

Puking update- just emptied the kitchen waste into the compost bin. Big mistake. Am replacing important electrolytes (eating doritos dipped in cream cheese)

angels1 · 18/06/2010 12:27

sweetnitanitro and ginafb thanks for your help re: weeks preg. I think my uncertainty was looking in pregnancy books. So if the book says 'week 5' as a title and explains what's going on, does that mean it's in the 5th week (ie 4 weeks + eg 2 days would be into the 5th week) or does it mean when you're eg 5 + 2.

Does that make sense?

sweetnitanitro I thought I couldn't eat cream cheese - is that something else I'm missing out on that I don't have to?

a
x

sweetnitanitro · 18/06/2010 12:31

You can eat cream cheese (like Philly), I think it's just unpastuerised stuff like Brie and Stilton, and I think even that's OK if it's cooked, I would double check with your MW though. There's a full list of cheese here-
Cheese

So no you don't have to miss out!

Deliaskis · 18/06/2010 12:34

angels1 from what I gather, ordinary cream cheese (like philadelphia) is absolutely fine while pregnant. It's only unpasteurised cheeses that are to be avoided.

OT but my Mum just rang me in a flap about what she could do as a starter when we go wrong on Sunday - most of our usual starters are prawns, smoked salmon, something with brie or blue cheese, something with parma ham, etc. It's not really the right time of year for soup, so I am making some homemade smoked mackerel pate which is fine as all the ingredients are OK.

D

canoe · 18/06/2010 12:38

Gigglet I know what you mean - I've been doing that too, keep re-assessing how i feel.

And Lalzee, I'm also trying not to worry about my lask of symptoms in case it all comes on with a vengeance next week!

I'm just feeling really tired today, and have such sore boobs. They were so painful last night that I'm thinking of wearing a bra in bed - has anyone else resorted to this?

Hope everyone else is feeling ok

tabbycat76 · 18/06/2010 12:39

You poor sufferers of the dreaded morning sickness! Sounds terrible, I'm hoping I'll be one of the few that doesnt get it. A close friend of mine is 20 weeks and she said she never felt any nausea at all, instead got incredible hunger and ate everything in site! Aren't you supposed to take after your mum in that respect?!? If that's the case perhaps I'll have the quickest and painfree of labours! Ha, here's hoping! I'm sure I'll be catching you all up with the yukky puking in the next week or two, I'm not usually that lucky!

As for weeks pregnant. They take how many weeks you are from your last period, so for me, mine was 12th May. When the next period was missed, I would be known as being pregnant from that last day of my period. Mad really since I was bleeding at the time but hey ho! They do it tho because they can never be sure of when you concieved tho they can be sure of when your last period was. I'm now 5+2 according to my period dates so will be in my 6th week of pregnancy. Does that help angles1??

We're going to a footie BBQ tonight, I've opted to drive to minimise any suspicion of my not drinking but are there any foods that people know of that I should avoid or be careful with?!? Apparently the guy who's hosting is reknowned for cooking meat VERY well, ie black probably but still worried.

MrsTeapot207 · 18/06/2010 12:48

I've been spotting - brown and faintly, and having crampy pains since yesterday. I went to the out of hours GP service last night at 9 o'clock, and they faxed the early pregancy unit straight away. I'm going for a scan this afternoon, but combined with my lack of symptoms, which have bothered me all along, I'm not having a good feeling about this at all...

DH is on his way back from work to hold my hand. I'm so weepy and scared.

angels1 · 18/06/2010 12:53

yes, thanks tabbycat78. bbq wise - would it be too boring to stick to salads/bread? I'm terrible about eating out in general, so always eat first at home then just graze to make it look like I'm eating whilst I'm out, but that's just me being odd!

I've got a new dilemma - on wed week I'm suppose to be travelling accross the country for a couple of days on a coure and then coming home with 3 weeks worth of solid work to do at from home from it (it's additional to my 'day' job). I've been signed off my day job for 3 weeks with Hypermesis thingymawatsit. I was assuming that this extra work would be out of the question and I'd have to cancel, but my mum and DH are taking the view 'wait and see how you feel' when I knwo darn well that I'll only be worse by then (only 4 + 4 now and already bad!). I also have a friend that is doing the same course who has just sent me the whole 'which train are you getting where shall we meet' email, and today I've been ignoring phone calls from a number that looks suspiciously like it's coming from the course organisers.

The thought of the journey etc and all that extra work (that I can easily say no to) that I don't feel up to doing/my brain power won't take....

a/ would it be unreasonable for me to cancel? especially given I've been signed off work for this time anyway or should I wait and see?
b/what excuse can I tell my friend who is very stoic and never has time off for anything....do I tell her the truth (she'll be understanding..but I don't want word to get out yet, it feels like the more people know, the more I tempt fate) or make something up (eg I could use an excuse about a bad back and being signed off...I have/do suffer from back problems in recent months).

sigh

hope all well out there.

a
x

GinaFB · 18/06/2010 12:54

MrsT I really hope that the scan goes ok and that everything is ok for you and your bean. I will be thinking about you hope your DH looks after you well. Much love xx

angels I took it to mean that if the book says week 6 for example it means you are 5+1 onwards. I might be wrong though.
