hoopsy....oooh that is a good birth story...told very well....i love it.

hi everyone else - have a houseful of 11 12 13 year olds so retreating for an early night....

zayja · 11/04/2010 07:26

Hi Ladies, Thanks for the warm welcome, hope you are all having wonderful weekends. I've been traipsing around Chicago seeing all the sights and staying out of trouble. Feeling a bit better about levels after looking at betabase, I'm not too much higher than the median. Will say though that I'm not having many pg symptoms - oh well, best enjoy instead of complain or worry I s'pose.

What beautiful babies on this thread amyboo and hoops - well done, don't mind if I do help myself to the stickies.

Think I will stay off the list until my first scan this Friday. Pretty sure I am 5+1 (sunday) and EDD is Dec. 11, but I'll wait to have that confirmed.

louisesh · 11/04/2010 11:14

Lovely photo AMY

Arh....really nice story hoops X

Cheepz · 11/04/2010 15:44

big congrats to amy he is lovely ... boys are wonderful

i am doing really well, not ttc and not being pregnant, has reminded me what my life was like after DS but before mc's and it was pretty good. am going to try and retain zen like calm in relation to ttc once we start again, and get on with my life rather than have everything on hold. with that in mind i have an interview week after next for a new job with old boss who moved companies in december. he tried to poach me in Feb but i was pregnant, he knows we are trying and about the mc's and he still wants me to go so what the hell

am hoping changing jobs ad not being entitled to any benefits will invoke sods law and result in a next pregnancy which does not result in mc

NHS have come back and will do tests on 27 May so am going to do that anyway and see a private clinic also once we start again - likely May June time.

Lovely to see you all doing so well and lovely to see Zayja here too xx

boodleboot · 12/04/2010 11:58

Effilump · 12/04/2010 16:28

Fuck fuck fuck. Hospital phoned, blood results back, want to see me tomorrow, 1 in 5 for downs. Why cant it ever go fucking right.

Meita · 12/04/2010 17:34

Oh Effi, I am so sorry to hear that. This must be a terribly worrying and upsetting time for you.

I suppose you will need to make some tough choices in the coming days. Wishing you all the strength and calm and clearness of mind you need to get through this.

Bear in mind that the probability is still 4 in 5 - 80% - that your baby is perfectly healthy.

Things you will need to decide...
Do you want an amnio/CVS?
If it turns out that your baby does have down's syndrom, what would that mean to you? (But you still have some time to think about that and get yourself informed. Don't let anyone pressurise you into hasty decisions!)

I will be thinking of you.

Hi to everyone else - Boodle, how did it go today?

thefatladyscreams · 12/04/2010 18:10

Oh Effilump - that must be so worrying but like Meita says it is still a 80% chance that everything is OK. Trying reading some of the other threads under pregnancy on this subject - there are loads of positive stories which might help you balance out that awful lurch in your stomach right now. Huge hugs to you.

Hi to everyone - sorry not posted on here recently - too busy in RL (how dare it!). Will be back later for a proper catch up but so lovely to read about the new arrivals (both baby and graduates!!!)

SamanthaB123 · 12/04/2010 21:47

Hi Everyone,

Have been away so haven't posted in ages. I'm going to catch up with all the news tomorrow. Finally have my 12 week scan at lunchtime tomorrow too. Really nervous and a bit worried...

boodleboot · 13/04/2010 08:13

good luck for today sam. xxx

DomesticG0ddess · 13/04/2010 09:52

Effilump I am really sorry to hear that, you must be very worried and confused. I am waiting for my results.

Good luck with your scan Samantha.

I am fine, been telling a few more people, including DS (3)! Can't decide whether to put it on Facebook or not, what do people think?

Meita · 13/04/2010 11:32

Effilump, are you seeing someone today/have you seen someone? Wishing you all the best, and strong nerves.

SamB, good luck to you too - let us know how it went!

Boodle, good news on the heartbeat and all

Arrgh - I've yet to hear my LO's heartbeat. I suppose they will listen in at the 28w appointment. Given that at 25 weeks I'm seeing a GP, not MW. So still quite a while to go... sigh... (not that I'm really upset).
But I DO feel definite kicks occasionally now, which is reassuring. DP on the other hand has not been so lucky. When he puts his hand on my bump, the little one seems to calm right down and stop any previous moving .
22 weeks today... only 18 to go! And not long to holidays

DomesticG0ddess · 13/04/2010 12:34

Meita, have you thought about getting a doppler?

Meita · 13/04/2010 13:14

DG, thought about it a lot, and nearly did when MW refused to listen at 16w-appointment ("we don't do that anymore"). But ultimately decided against it. DP splashed out on a (much more expensive) stethoscope at Christmas, and basically we should be able to hear the heartbeat with that by now - except that of course I have an anterior placenta which probably explains why we can't! But chances are, we will be able to hear it soon. So not much point in getting a doppler anymore now. Have you got one?

I did eventually put a comment on facebook, but not many people reacted to it ... I think most missed it . Probably because I don't often do facebook statuses. So couldn't tell if it is really a good way of getting the news out or not. If you do put it on, at least then nobody can claim you've been keeping it secret...

DomesticG0ddess · 13/04/2010 13:21

Yes I got one - just a cheapie from eBay (£14). I hired one in my first pregnancy which worked out quite pricey in the end, but they are so cheap now! I love listening to the heartbeat, I find it so reassuring in these early days, and it nice for DH too seeing as he won't be able to feel the baby move for long time. But maybe it wouldn't work for you with the placenta issue, I don't know?

SamanthaB123 · 13/04/2010 14:45

I've just got home from my scan and the baby was just lovely. The sonographer was really nice and spent ages looking and showing us different things. I was amazed at how much better the images were since DD2 ten years ago! We saw the baby in so much detail, it was just fab. We listened to the heart beating and could see individual toes and fingers. Baby was awake and kicking its legs and rubbing it's nose with its right hand. So cute. We did have the nt and the reading was nice and low which is good to hear although it probably wouldn't make much difference to us anyway. The baby was absolutely the expected size for my dates, never have I been so relieved to be ordinary! My EDD stays as 20th October. Suddenly I feel like I am actually going to have a baby, it's not just a distant dream, it's really true...

HappyGirl1 · 13/04/2010 15:14

Awh SamantahB123 that sounds so amazing and congratulations that it all went so so well.. was that your 12 week scan? Hugely delighted to hear good news

Cheepz · 13/04/2010 15:15

samb thats so wonderful, it sounds like one of the very best of days, much love

Meita · 13/04/2010 15:28

Great news SamB! It is such a huge relief, isn't it. Take some deep breaths and enjoy a relaxed evening!

Effilump, any further news yet? Still thinking of you, hoping you are getting support to get through this.

SamanthaB123 · 13/04/2010 15:30

Thanks Cheepz & HappyGirl1, today has been just lovely. Cheepz how are you getting on?

Goodluckbear · 13/04/2010 16:22

Hi everyone,

Can I join the thread...feeling braver today, got BFP at the weekend. Nice to see so many friendly faces here!!

Effilump - I read your post, thinking of you xx

It was nice to read your post about your scan Sam, that sounds so lovely.

Can I offload my crazy weirdness and someone here slap me? I'm just going to list it and then skulk away

  • I got lots of PMT type pains before I got the BFP, didn't happen last time at all, is that weird/wrong?
  • Because of PMT type pains I drank lots of wine as didn't think I'd get BFP, have I pickled the bean? I had like a glass or two a day for a week before when my period was due.
  • I got really hot in the sun, I know I'm being ridiculous, how hot is too hot?!? Can I have a hot bath or is that bad too?
  • I ate a RAW EGG. I've never frickin' eaten a raw egg before, but it was in this local dish while on hols, typical it happens when I'm up the duff.
  • I got dead stressed in work this morning, that's probably wrong too.

Don't judge me, I know I'm a loon and if I saw someone else write that rubbish I'd be laughing my head off, but I'm geniunely concerned I've knocked my chances of it working out. And I don't really have any symptoms, just a slight crampy feeling sometimes.

I'm not a crazy in real life or anything.

xxx
