Hi Barrenbrook - so pleased to see you here!!!

I have a TMI question - I've caught a tummy bug, not sick just the other end, is that bad for the bean? I'm only 5+2 now and pretty much feel like everything I do is wrong, haha.

xxx

HappyGirl1 · 16/04/2010 12:01

GLB I had a 24 hour bug last weekend with literally things coming out both ends. I was incredibly worried as then the next day my boobs weren't as sore (my only symptom). I was at my GP though on Wednesday and she said it's completely fine if you have a bug, just try and drink tons of water to stay dehydrated (that was my problem cos I couldn't keep water down).. so your bean will be good

Unbuffy · 16/04/2010 12:24

Hi everyone,

Feeling a bit better today as have discovered the joys of Lucozade for breakfast! am trying not to drink too much but it does seem to be helping, despite making me a leetle hyper!! Have to try to find a balance between enough and too much. Does anyone know if this is a bad idea [paranoid emoticon]?

Good to see you, not-so-barrenbrook! Hooray!

Also waves to everybody else, will try to catch up when dd not trying to buttonpush on the computer!

Meita · 16/04/2010 13:02

Well if that volcano in Iceland continues spewing ash into the atmosphere, I won't be going on holiday at all... That would be soooooo disappointing, it's our first real holiday since ages. Not to mention that the insurance doesn't cover hotel costs when you can't go due to cancelled planes (they would if the plane were just delayed).

So, touch wood and everything - plane hasn't been cancelled yet, let's hope it will fly on Sunday!

Unbuffy · 16/04/2010 20:08

Hello again!

Hope everybody's feeling that Friday Feeling... I'm feeling better today on my diet of Ryvita and sips of Lucusade (a swig an hour seems to do wonders). And now of course I'm unneccessarily worrying because I don't feel sick any more. Will somebody please slap me around the face with a large Monty Python type fish please? GP even TOLD me not to worry so much as it's unlikely to all go wrong again (please be right, please please please).

GLB I would say that period-type pains are normal, have them now (and have had for the past few weeks). So just hope along with you that it is a good sign, uterus getting bigger, things happening, etc. And hormomal head-stuff (see above paranoia) - emotional for no reason at all, etc etc.

Very pleased about Effi's news, you are a strong and sensible lady and I hope it all works out.

Waves to everyone else! hope a good, ash-free weekend is had by all.

This few weeks is going sooooo slowly. My sil had her 12-week scan today and is busy Announcing this evening; if all goes according to plan will be due 4 weeks after her. But I refuse to say anything yet...

louisesh · 16/04/2010 20:13

Good luck MEITA hope you get off.Enjoy X

DuelingFanjo · 16/04/2010 20:24

hello there. Meita recommended I come here to hold hands with other people who are pregnant again after a miscarriage.

Had a scare today which I won't bore you with but am 6 weeks pregnant after ivf and had a blood test today which told me my hCG level is 6540. This is good apprently though I still need reassurance from all the goofling I have done. i guess the more you search the more you worry.

I am slightly worried that my boobs aren't as big and sore as they were a couple of days ago as I really have no other symptoms at all.

HappyGirl1 · 16/04/2010 22:26

Unbuffy so so glad to hear someone else is crazy emotional. Ive got upset with DH three days in a row now, once about wardrobes, once milk and now a sandwich. Its so daft, he feels so bad for upsetting me and gets down, then i get annoyed he gets down! Crazy. Now got funny movements darts and all worried ive stressed the bean. My GP said the same re unlikely to wrong again so hoping beyond hope.

Dueling my boobs did the same last wkend, doc said i was dehydrated and nothing to worry about. However i feel them all the time to check. Its hard it is.

Hopefully we will all have an uneventful few months xx

louisesh · 16/04/2010 22:30

Hi DUELINGFANJO welcome X

boodleboot · 17/04/2010 08:03

duelingFanjo - step away from the google....when i was early on and obsessing about HCG figures due to not wanting another ectopic i used this site www.betabase.info and found that really useful....of course its the doubling rate that is the really important thing - are you going back for another test? Welcome to the thread....lots of ninnying around and going el freako for no reason here so you will fit right in...

i am ok....just kind of getting on until i get to the 21wk scan....looking very pregnant now and weight gain has thankfully slowed right down altho its still a hefty figure but i am 5ft 9 and heavy even when skinny so trying not to get to obsessed about it....

mrsr - i demand that you check in at least once a week....can't be worrying about you young lady....

been given the really unwelcome news that the landlord of our simply glorious home has decided to sell and that is disasterous for us...could be moving in august....nine months pregnant.....cant even think aboubt it seriously at the moment....

Goodluckbear · 17/04/2010 15:19

Welcome Dueling!! I've been obsessively googling too. Probably should cut it out but I CAN'T.

Meita, hope you do get to go on hols tomorrow. Today is extra sunny here, I feel like I'm holiday too. My mate, funnily enough, is on holiday in Iceland....and can't get back...

Oh boodle, that's pants. Sad to have to move anyway, let alone when 9 mnths. Don't know what to say really .

I saw my GP yesterday and she was the nicest, nicest lady EVER. I actually think she's pregnant (she looks it) but I felt too shy to ask. I bloody well blubbed the whole time, like I have some sort of eye disease everytime I talk about being pregnant. She was super nice and is getting a early scan for me in a couple of weeks (i.e. when I'm just over 7 weeks). I realise I'm incredibly lucky to be offered that, I think they do it as a matter of course for anyone pregnant post mc in my area for reassurance, but I know from these threads that doesn't happen for lots of people (e.g. Happy...) so I know I'm really fortunate. Will just be glad to see if there's a heartbeat then.

xxxxx

thefatladyscreams · 17/04/2010 16:39

Yeh so great to see you here Barrenbrook! It's lovely having more and more of us graduate across.

And welcome Dueling - you are in very good company for fretting and worrying away (with a good dose of laughs thrown in!). I think I saw your thread and remember reading something similar where midwives were complaining about the ClearBlue digital causing unnecessary alarm for the reasons you described. I'm sure it's just another of those things sent to test our nerves!

Boodle - real PITA about the house but here's hoping he gets no interest and changes his mind. Plenty of time to worry about weight after the baby - I keep saying to myself that there's nothing I can do about it now anyway!

Hi to everyone - sorry not read through things properly as in a hurry. Will catch up properly tomorrow but really dashing in to say fingers crossed Meita xxx. Hoping that you're not online tomorrow in the nicest possible way! Assuming you get away, hope you have a fantastic, relaxing and romantic holiday!

Unbuffy · 17/04/2010 19:22

Hi everyone, welcome Dualling, ooo more newbies at the bottom of the list talking about ickiness and crap! Go Lucozade!

Has it gone for good btw? I would try to have a go at updating but i am useless at a) maths b) computers, and would bugg*r it up totally first try (wouldn't be the first time, I now stay well clear of playing with Lists...)

Hope everyone's having a lovely Sunny weekend, best of luck Meita on the flying!

x

Meita · 17/04/2010 19:48

Welcome DF

Thanks everyone for wishing me well... unfortunately it hasn't worked - our flight has been cancelled, we found out this morning. Have been very teary because of it - was so looking forward to this. Despite no help from the airline we managed to re-book (well - we're asking for a refund for the flights and booked a new one instead) for Wednesday, and added two nights to the end - luckily our hotel can put us up for those extra two nights, even though it's a tiny place (10 rooms only). I suppose they've had cancellations.
So, volcano permitting, we can still go. We've lost 1.5 days but that's better than not going at all and losing the £1000 for the hotel.
The only real problem is that we will have an 8 hour transit in Dubai, from midnight to 8 in the morning - and that when we get home on the 6th, I will just have time to unpack, wash, and pack again for a work weekend in Berlin on the 7th. Well - sometimes you just take what you can get!

Anyway, sorry for the long message - will be hanging around here a few more days it seems. Sending lots of calming thoughts to Iceland

zayja · 18/04/2010 16:55

Hi Ladies,
Checking in to say "hi".

meita, glad to hear hols is likely on, such a bummer when your well deserved getaway is in jeopardy. DH and I were almost late to our wedding in Jamaica due to flight mixups, I was sooo and .
Well, unbuffy, glb, and deuling, I see I'm in like company here. Woke up at 5 yesterday AM and couldn't sleep so spent hours Googling, and watching 5-6week scans on youtube.
Had a scan Friday - I was either 5+5 or 5+6, and saw a little flicker of a heartbeat, so that was nice. Still feel I've got so long to go, MMC was discovered at 12w scan last time after seeing a hb at 8w so a bit til I feel in the clear. Also so stressed at work, hating my 5th and 6th graders - so hard to deal with. I feel like my blood pressure rises until my brains are gonna blow out the top of my head!!! Talking to counselor, she says to detach a bit, even if I come off as indifferent. I keep telling myself "like water off a duck" - thats my calming mantra. We'll see how it works for these last 8 weeks til summer!

boodle, sorry to hear you'll have that to deal with a 9mo. Maybe you can enlist lots of family/friends to help?

effi, glad to hear you got better news on a return visit. So much to think and worry about but it sounds like you are a sound thinker!

Enjoy the remaining weekend, dh is cooking a lovely breakfast and planning a roast for the afternoon so I'll be sitting back and feasting today

louisesh · 18/04/2010 17:03

Hi ALL

Any advice please? Any of you suffering from midges bites? I ve been bitten loads in the last 2 weeks, went to the dr was crap.Already using "eurax" cream but that only treats the itching for a short period of time.Anyony know of anything that i can use as a prevention aid/treatment?

Thanks X

Unbuffy · 18/04/2010 19:32

If you can get some topical steriodal cream like cortisone that should do the trick Louise. Horrid for you. Also if it's really bad then piriton tablets (antihistamenes). Both were prescribed for me during pregnancy with dd for a kind of heat rash thing, so they are safe, but 'check with your phamacist to be sure' as they say!

louisesh · 18/04/2010 20:59

Thanks Unbuffy i can get hold of 1 % hydrocortisone cream at work, gp said i could take piriton if needed but just trying to stick to topical applications, if possible.Just ordered some stuff from Avon thats suppose to be good.I could scratch myself to death!!!!!!!!!URH!!!!!!!!!

memorylapse · 19/04/2010 12:23

a quick post..baby Olivia was born on friday after I was induced due to being in hospital for 2 weeks with my blood sugars going ga ga and placental concerns

the birth story..

went over to delivery on thurs morning..had first pessary at 12..got quite excited as had mild tightnings all day and a show..examination at 7 showed I was between 2-3 cms dilated..so not in established labour but I was convinced I would go into labour in the night..sadly not..had an uncomfortable night trying to sleep on a delivery bed..poor dh was in a chair..
Friday morning..one of the consultants came and broke my waters..still nothing and dh and I observed that as my waters drained..my bump almost vanished! we began to suspect that the monster diabetic baby predicted was way off the mark!..

12 lunchtime..decision was made to attach me to a synto drip but all I got were mild contractions...until at 4 oclock it was realised that the venflon in my hand had tissued to was not going into my vein..the drip was swapped over and almost straight away I had fast furious and intensely painful contractions...I got myself up on the bed and kneeled against the pillows leaning over the back...almost straight away I needed to push..midwife said if I felt like I needed to push..to go for it as she could see the head!..I pushed once and felt DD move down..I shouted to the midwife that I thought she was coming out5..midwife was getting the delivery pack ready and I pushed again and DD shot out..head body and all!..midwife said she turned round to deliver the head..to be greeted by a baby!
I could hear DH crying and saying "oh my god..she has so much hair"...

the placenta came out quite quickly but did not look right..it had a massive yellow cyst in the middle of itconfused...its been photographed for teaching purposes and my consultant thinks my placenta might have been packing up..hence the hypos..so Im so glad she was delivered..

we held her and cried..almost straight away she was rooting so I put her to the breast and she fed for 40 mins..synto drip was left up for an hour to help me contract down..

its so nice to be home..and I swear that if they could bottle that feeling you get when you hold your new baby they would have an instant cure for depression

Meita · 19/04/2010 15:03

Meita · 19/04/2010 15:09

Also wanted to say, any newbies please hop on the list whenever you feel like it (I know it can be a bit daunting).

Our holidays are still in limbo... Wasn't holding out too much hope yesterday, but today things are strangely looking up a bit. Who knows, we might yet be able to fly. And we have decided that if we can't go, we'll go to Cornwall instead. Not quite the same as Mauritius, but something! I really need that break - have been lugging myself from day to day recently, very unproductive, no energy left.

How is everyone? It has been very quiet recently - presumably related to the gorgeous weather we've been having!

becky78 · 19/04/2010 15:21

Congratulations Memory! No word from you for a while and you come back with a baby Sounds like it was a bit of a drama for you but so happy that Olivia arrived safe and sound.

The scary thing is that I am now 2nd on the list!! I will be officially full term at 37 weeks on Wednesday and am working from home this week as my last week so looking forward to mat leave starting next week as feel like I am the size of a house now!! Also we have had an offer accepted on a house so everything is going to be happening at once I think

Hi to all those who have recently moved over from the ttc thread - I still follow it and really pleased to see zayja and barrenbrook as you have been on the thread a long time but still kept positive and hope you have v.uneventful pregnancies.

Sorry to those of you feeling a bit rough - I was sick up until 21 weeks which was rubbish but on the other hand it reminded me that all was still going ok. I think after a mc there is nothing more disconcerting that having no symptoms.

cheepz I think you still check in here from time to time - just wanted to say what an inspiration you are staying so positive even though you have really been through it - you are a real boost for the ladies on the ttc thread who are feeling so down at times. Hope you are back over this side soon.

meita - hope you make it off on your hols - looks like the ash might be moving off so fingers crossed. You keep asking about us at the top of the list but you seem to have shot up to 3rd now so not all that long to go for you either!!

Sorry for anyone I have missed, hope you are all enjoying the sunshine. xxx

Goodluckbear · 19/04/2010 16:46

Congrats Memorylapse!! Good to see fantastic news!!

I like the list and I will add myself in a bit, but going to wait until I've had that scan in a couple of weeks (when I'll be over 7 weeks) so I don't jinx it all, haha.

Meita - hope you get a lovely break, whether it's abroad or UK based. Sky News are reporting flights will be resuming from tomorrow, so you never know. Will keep fingers crossed.

And on holidays - we are thinking of booking a two week holiday in September, something to look forward to. I'm guessing (if everything goes ok, touch wood) I would be 26 - 27 weeks then. Would it be alright to go somewhere like Greece at that point, or am I being too adventurous?

xxxxx

Cheepz · 19/04/2010 19:37

memorylapse congratulations, loooove the name and so true about that feeling...

becky78 such a lovely thing to say, thank you - I am a total lurker!! can't believe its so soon for you now!

meita 3 from the top .... gulp, fills me with optimism

me and dh just had a weekend away which was lovely suposed to be in ireland but settled for bucks on account of flight cancelled, still grown up spa, gym, pool, reading time was lovely

then today we accepted an offer on our house so we are moving

and i have a job interview on friday

so with all this stuff going on my not ttc time is passing quickly and we will be back on the ttc wagon soon - no doubt right when we are moving and in the middle of changing everything with new job, new childcare, architects etc I will get preggo and not have a 4th mc .. because that will be when it is most inconvenient ... but i wont give a damn

love to all, miss you guys, but jolls and viv are keeping me hanging in there so I am in good company

louisesh · 19/04/2010 19:55
