Weaning update? we are waiting 2 weeks (more cos of me than dh I must stress) cos H didn?t seem overly fussed by the puree, but was interested in the steamed sticks ? so when she is officially 6 months we will go with some finger foods first, banana or whatever, and see how she goes?

Greedy what a shame about Lapland, I would have been so irate. Would you go again?

Fettle, you are right, I have already been thinking that it doesn?t really matter what she eats until she is older as at this stage milk is still most important, so any food she gets is a bonus
Not long til R&R ? how exciting

Rainbow I say go with whatever edd you think, you?ve got more insight into your body than a lmp dial anyway Fingers crossed.

City thank you so much for that comprehensive guide! I will sit with a brew tonight and have a look at all the links. Ooh love a link. How are you feeling? How long were you trying for?
So what happened with your leg operation? I know you said it is a long story, and I am being super nosy, but just hope all is ok.

Seaside oooh jealous of your hol in 2 weeks, enjoy the sun won?t you!! Thanks for your input into weaning too. I was thinking about the ikea highchair, but felt a bit of a tightarse getting an £11 highchair, so we got a nice wooden one with a tray that folds back, probably should have just got the ikea one. Too late now.

I was going to add something else, but dh needs rescuing from H xx

greedygreedyguzzler · 09/01/2010 12:20

hang on.............ready, are you calling seaside a tightarse!!??? she is seaside!! she really is!....i wouldn't stand for it seaside!..........go on.....fight ..fight ....fight!!!

Ready · 09/01/2010 12:51

Cor greedy you really are a stirrer aren't you ... yes, that's what I was doing, calling Seaside - who bought a BLOOM highchair - a tightarse .
In case it sounded that way to everyone and not just greey... I meant spending £11 on my MAIN highchair felt a bit tight. Ho hum.

seaside72 · 09/01/2010 12:52

ROFL greedy! I would have been happy to admit to being a WISE tightarse if I had only bought the ikea chair, but instead I bought it 4 months after splashing out stupid money on a Bloom one!!

Ok it's official ladies I am now the last of my close NCT /baby group to not have DC2 or be pg now - last one just told me she is 12 weeks today! I am off to try and think positive

Ready · 09/01/2010 12:52

or greedy, even.

Ready · 09/01/2010 12:53

Hugs Seaside. Hang in there. It will happen. Enjoy your holiday and try not to think about it. xx

seaside72 · 09/01/2010 12:54

x posted Ready
yeah greedy - you stirrer - me and ready are going to beat you up!

I honestly wish I was a tightarse - we would be much better off

Ready · 09/01/2010 13:00

Yep. Me too. I have read LOADS of great reviews about the ikea highchair, but we had already got our wooden one. Hindsight is marvellous. xxx

greedygreedyguzzler · 09/01/2010 13:28

hee hee!

greedygreedyguzzler · 09/01/2010 13:29

got mine off ebay, by the way! so i really AM a tightarse!

Ready · 09/01/2010 13:38

Anyone got a time machine?

Fettle · 09/01/2010 21:39

Why you want a time machine Ready? I 'fused!!

Seaside - I'm sorry. That must be really hard. However, just remember that you are spending much more quality time with Cassius that all your NCT friends won't be able to and he really needs his one-to-one mummy time still. (sorry just trying to find a positive for you when I can imagine how horrid it all is for you - all I can say is that I wanted a smaller age gap between my two, but it didn't work out that way as these things don't, but I really love my 3.5 year gap as DD is very much independent and a great help with Toby, much more than if I'd had my 2 year gap I originally wanted). Have you tried reflexology? Can't remember if you had - but with some of the results I've had with various clients, I wouldn't be surprised if it had beneficial results for helping conception too!

Greedy - you naughty stirrer!!!!

I need to check out this £11 Ikea chair as it sounds fab, but far too late for me now!! We went for a wooden Svan one that converts into a high chair without bars and then finally into an adult chair. With hindsight we should have bought another one for Toby so DD could keep using it as a higher than normal chair for a bit longer, but we didn't!

I so should be revising, but it's Saturday evening, and I just can't face it - so I'm on the internet just wasting time!!! Must at least go to bed early, as I'm shatteroonied!!

Night all!!

seaside72 · 09/01/2010 22:23

aww - bless you fettle - you def have made me feel better. Actually DH and I had a big chat this afternoon and reinforced how lucky we are to have DS and tbh I truly think most of the time I could be reconciled with just having one as I am an only I have no negative experiences of it, only positive. I can vividly remember being so low 3 years ago in Feb 06 and saying to myself if I could just have one DC I would never ask for anything again!! I got my wish

Really it is more because I loved being pg that I would like another and also of course for DS

I think reflexology sounds a good idea and it is one I have not tried yet!! (and I cant say that about many alternative therapies!)

seaside wanders off to google local reflexologists

Oh and Ready wants a time machine so she can go back and not buy the more expensive luxurious high chair and instead buy the ikea £11 one!
Go on - get one too fettle!

Fettle · 09/01/2010 22:49

Seaside - make sure you find a reputable one! At least a member of association of reflexology MAR. Ideally I'd say a member of international institute of reflexology IIR.

Shame you don't live closer - I'd do you ! Would be free for you and I could use you towards my 100 treatments!! Still got 30ish to do! Aarrgh!!!!! Too much to do, too little time - so I'll just waste what time I have!

Ready · 10/01/2010 09:14

I was thinking of the time machine more to go back and not type the word tightarse but yes, also so I could save the best part of £100 on a highchair that doesn't convert into anything other than a trayless highchair.

Good words Fettle for Seaside, much better than my attempte. Seaside I loved hearing you say that about if only you could have one dc you would be happy... ditto. I said that I would never stress about a second, where I would like two, it doesn't matter if H is the only.... make a note of that everyone for when the time comes and I am stressing

We got a camcorder (although I am sure they are not called that anymore?) for christmas, and we have had lots of fun recording H - laughing, rolling over, sitting and yawning, throttling giraffes - great fun

xx

Ready · 10/01/2010 09:15

Apologies for the rogue 'e' there. I really should preview my posts. In my defence I have new mum brain still

rainbowdays · 10/01/2010 11:06

Fettle - have you done any work yet???? or are you procrastinating here again with us

Ready - I love looking back at our videos of our rascals at H's age, so cute.

Seaside - I think we can all empathise with you, having all of us had difficulties to one extent or another, with concieving, and with the feeling that "famiy" is not yet complete. I really hope that you get your expanded wish soon. I did acupucture this month and I really think it helped me.

greedy - good to hear you enjoyed lapland despite the hassels. Your stirring here made me laugh, you are so good at it!!!

OP posts:
seaside72 · 10/01/2010 11:09

LOL ready - I was obviously 'fused as well- sorry Ready - not meaning to diss your nice high chair !

It is snowing here but not enough to make a snowman just enough to be annoying! Still we are having fun feeding the birds who are very appreciative

iamamummy · 10/01/2010 11:40

morning ladies!!!

wow you have been a chatty little bunch!!

rainbow - how are you feeling? i am one for looking back on old videos and reminising...Oscar is 2 next month and i cannot get over in just that short space of time how he has changed and grown makes me all emotional!

greedy - i cannot believe your lapland saga how dissapointing especially when you said it cut down your trip by half! i definately would put in for some compo but when we had our disastrous holiday in spain when i was pregnant with oscar the cheeky buggers offered us £100 that was it!

seaside - to hear your feeling a bit glum about the whole ttc issue. It WILL happen just think positive and dont put so much pressure on yourself with regards to age gap, as fettle says whatever age gap you have will be fine for you and just enjoy cassius and make the most of your alone time together before another one comes along.

ready - when i started weaning oscar i steamed loads of veg like carrots, parsnip, sweet potato, brocolli, suede and mushed them all up seperately and froze them into little ice cube trays, i also did pear, apple, plum and mango for an occassional pudding and i gradually built oscar up from that once he had a taste for it.

city - huge congrats!!! lovely to hear from you again. sorry about your leg op, hope your recovering now.

fettle - wow only a few more days and you will all see dh again, that must be so exciting for you and even though its not for long...march is only 2 months away and you are over the worst bit now right? are the children counting down too?

well not much from me, we are housebound due to the snow! i will only venture out if dp drives. all of a sudden oscar is talking! putting 2/3 words together and at the moment all i hear is mummy...mummy...whats that....mummy whats that? so i tell him he repeats...then on we go to another object! and start again....

iamamummy · 10/01/2010 11:50

sorry for ending so abrubtly thought id be gone for a while...

its amazing some of the things he comes out with now, if he drops something he says oopsy daisy which is sooooo cute! and i think he is definately very advanced with his speech so should have no concerns for his 2 year check!

big hellos to everyone else

quick question, is anyone here using the injection as contraception? i have been on the pill now for 2 months and it just isnt agreeing with me and i forget to take it on time and end up waking in the night and remembering. i cant remember if the jab had side effects when ttc again? just curious before i go to the doc i want to be armed with some info first as to what i want.

cityangel · 10/01/2010 12:02

yes note to self must post less next time!

Have the most un-child friendly couple coming for lunch, they're late and I am going to pretend to be hungover so they don't twig I am pg.... wish me luck!

Have any of yours moved to big boy beds yet? something I am dreading as I bought a cotbed and I wish I had got one of those fun toddler beds instead

Fettle · 10/01/2010 13:56

Hi girls!

Still not started revising, got too much on my mind and to do since getting back from holiday as the house is in chaos.

Anyway, one thing constantly preoccupying me at the moment and something I need to do something about very shortly is this
Any further advice, thoughts from you ladies very welcome!

Must get on!

Hey all - just sneaking on here while Dh watching kids in bath... Am feeling a bit tiddled to be honest as had friends over this afternoon and I've drunk too much wine - also meant to be playing badminton in a hour so not sure how that is going to go! .

Great news on the PG city - honestly really can't believe your DS is 17 nonths old. I remember you positng so clearly when he was newly born - its mad where the time goes. Its the same with Ready's DD - 6 months !!! How did the lunch go with your friends? So what is your due date?

My hand is up as another who bought a fancy high chair and then got an IKEA while fantastic wipe down one as well. They are brilliant and I saw this weekend that they've got a couple of new styles as well - just as cheap.

How is the revising Fettle? Good to see you got home safe and sound. Not long now til DH is back - really hope he is able to relax when he's back - it does sound like he's had a rough time out there.

How are you feeling Rainbow? - Do you feel more positive this time? I really hope so...

Seaside - Sounds like you've had a busy xmas / new year... As the others have said I hope you dont put too much pressure on since the latest NCT announcement. I know it can be ahrd because it makes it all the more real but I've also come to realise that age gaps dont matter - the 3 yr gao between my DS's is wonderful and I'm sure a longer / shorter is just as great - basically there are pro's and cons to it all. My friend is going in for a C section with her DC2 next Tuesday 9 years after her first DC. Her DS is really excited and will be a great help. Its will be like being a first time mum again in a good way in terms of the time with the baby. I am also an only as is DH and like you we wouldn't have been upset is DS1 has been an only too. Good luck with the reflexology.... I wish I lived closer to you too fettle with the promise of all these free treatments .

Shame about your trip Greedy but good that you enjoyed the time you had there. The plane trips sound a nightmare - how were the kids after all those delays? You and DH must have been exhausted by the time you got there.

Iamamummy - Wow Oscars speech does sound advanced - its sounds about the same as Ds2 and he's 2 and a half.

Right, better be off....

Chooster · 10/01/2010 20:03

Scuse all the typos!

minxi · 11/01/2010 09:49

Hey girls, sorry to hijack but....just wanted to ask for advice and HELP!!! Think/know I am pg and am in total utter shock...Was on the pill after DS3 and during Nov/December had about 3 weeks on off sickness bug...anyway af was due Friday after my pills ended on Tuesday last week and no sign was also sick several times last week which thought bloody hell another bug.... have felt hot flushed, carpal tunnel all of a sudden got worse and this morning bought a cheap sainsbury test and there's a line..
I have no idea what to do - I know in the past I thought how lovely it would be to have another but hadn't even thought worked it out in my head maybe if I had still felt the same in a couple of years and I just don't know what to do and think...
Am going for a gym assessment in an hour and I'm in a right state - sort of mentioned to DH that af was late and rather weird as normally clockwork he thinks its quite amusing but will equally be as shocked as me and wont know what to think!! Can't bring myself to tell him that have just done test..
Basically I'm in a right mess - don;t know what I expect anyone to say but just had to tell someone - don't want to tell anyone is RL...
