Hi there. Marsup, I've just invested in some Gaviscon as well. Every day I would think how nice it was that I hadn't had indigestion yet and then as sooon as I went to bed it hit. I tried drinking lots of milk with little success so I got a prescription for it yesterday. It'll take 2 days though so I bought a bottle too.
I'm due on the 28th so chances are it'll be February but who knows! It was originally the 21st but after a scan it was changed to the 28th. DH has it in his head that it'll be early but he was also convinced it was a boy so I don't have much confidence in his prediction abilities
It seems to be really scary now, I can't believe I'm 26 weeks and January seems like no time at all. Like you, Marsup, our families are quite far away although not overseas so we weren't sure what to do for Christmas but I think we've decided to drive and visit for a few days at least. Don't know what we'd do if we were on our own, especially as I can't cook.
I'm going to stop work before Christmas to give me some time to prepare everything-life is so hectic atm with building work on our house and dh working away a lot that nothing is organised!
Hope everyone is doing well. Ghosty, I read your other thread and I'm sorry you're not feeling too good. I think it's natural to have all these fears and worries but stay confident that you're competent and a good mum and you know that you'll always do the best you can. Someone I know told me that she felt quite depressed after 20 weeks because of the enormity of it all (she has just had a ds- her dd is 18 months old) but within a short space of time she felt more positive again.
Take care all

Hi Marsup, I will be spending Christmas with my family who are just an hour's drive away. We should've spent this Christmas with DHs family, but that would entail getting on a plane. It will be nice for you and your DH to have a nice quiet Christmas- just the 2 of you. If I were doing that, Id make a nice candlelit dinner and enjoy it at home

marsup · 23/10/2003 21:36

Poor Ghosty (on other thread) to be feeling so miserable. But when she said her ds kissed her tummy and was talking to her baby and impatient to see it, it just makes me even more clucky, that is so nice.

I know the feeling, Hayls, the acid hits when you go to bed. I've tried eating quite early and digesting for hours which helps a bit, but it's as if my stomach has sslowed down the digestion process as well. This isn't going to get better before Jan, I can tell!

misspastry · 29/10/2003 13:31

Im due on 7th of Jan, do hope its not before its bad enough having a bithday in Jan (like I do), but so close to xmas would be worse,

It's great at work everyone trying to get their leave booked, and I'll be of on maternity leave !!!!

I have booked an indian head massage, what is everyone else doing for relaxation or old fashioned pampering.

Hayls · 19/11/2003 15:04

Hi all, was just wonderng how you all were? I'm feeling OK except really tired and a bit dizzy now and again- mw says this is due to my BP, which is always really low. Still, suppose it's better than being too high! Oh, and the dreaded heartburn/ indigestion. I never imagined it could actually be this bad... tried Peptac, Gaviscon and have to sleep with a glass of milk beside the bed- was really impressed (as was DH) when I knocked it over the newly changed covers the other night
Has anyone started antenatal classes yet? The parentcraft ones start here next week but dh can't make it as he's on a training course- should I go on my own? Think I'd feel a bit uncomfortable so haven't decided. Do mainly couples go? He will make all the others.

Hope everybody's OK and keeping well (if quiet!) When are you all taking maternity leave?

loofers · 20/11/2003 10:38

I just thought i'd say hello
I'm 32 weeks and due on the 10th jan with my 4th baby. I've just found mumsnet
So hello everyone!

marsup · 20/11/2003 11:47

Hello to all and welcome Loofers. I'm glad to see there are a few of us still expecting Jan and we haven't all decided to opt for December or Feb!

Mine is due 6 Jan but dp is 'sure' that he will be early. We almost had an argument (we never have arguments) about birthdays as I said if ds is born too close to Christmas we should celebrate his birthday 10 days before or after, so that he gets two parties and separate presents - dp said that no one does that! (Hhmn...)

I'm starting antenatal classes tonight, Hayls - I'll let you know if it is just couples.

I'm still pretending to do proper work but actually getting really really slow (and also typing on mumsnet during work hours!). This 3rd trimester is just not as comfortable and energetic as the first two were.

Hope everyone else is ok, keep that Gaviscon down.

flump · 20/11/2003 14:18

hi ladies, im due with my 3rd on the 3rd of january and the sooner it arrives, the better. i have been told i am expecting a little girl and now im a bit worried as i have bought everything in pink and lilac or with flowers, etc and ive heard a few horrer stories about wrong predictions. i done exactly the same with my daughter and son and thankfully the sonographer was correct. are there any early january mums in the east scotland area around?

marsup · 20/11/2003 21:45

Hi Flump - I think I just responded to you on another thread?

Hayls, I've just come back from my first parenthood class. Can't say I learnt anything, but that is because I've been obsessively reading books and mumsnetting so most of the introductory stuff was well known. The class was packed, and almost everyone was with a partner - one woman with her mother (I think). You might feel better going with your partner, and it would be good for him to hear some of it - if he is anything like my dp he is much less aware of the whole process than I am and there are some things he needs to know.

My problem now is that I got B Hicks walking back and have been having lots of them, really sore, for the last two hours. This is only the second time it has hurt. I'm trying a warmed-up ice-pack (if that makes sense) on my tummy now and it does help a bit. I'm getting fed up with this BH!

Hayls · 21/11/2003 14:33

Thanks for letting me know that, marsup. He is really keen to go so I think I'll just have to miss the first one rather than go alone
Sorry tohear bout your BH, hope they ease off soon
