Hell, I've just found out I'm expecting No. 3 mid November, and am very excited. A bit scared too - I can't remember a thing! How can I possibly have done this twice already??? Hope more of you can join me soon!

Thank you so much jane 101. I'm very excited, and have told a few family members, and the reactions have been better than I was expecting, so I'm very happy! So sweet of you to remember me after all this time!

Hi, monkey, seems like I'll be joining you. Number 2 is due mid November. I'm scared too - ds is only 14 months at the moment, so I'll have two under two. Trying not to think about it (or the space / financial side of it all!). Not told anyone yet, except ds who doesn't understand a word and just jumped on my stomach while I was explaining it!

Me too. No2 should be due mid Nov - but I'm finding it a bit hard to believe after ttc for the last 12 months. Also had mc before dd was conceived, so trying not to "count my chickens" yet. Dying to tell people, though...

Whelid, I wouldn't worry - ds1 was only 17.5 months old when ds2 was born. Of course it was a bit hard at first, but I think it is no matter what the age, you just have different, not more or fewer problems. At least that's the theory! I'll find out when no. 3 comes along. ds1 will be over 4 & ds2 will be nearly 3 - that seems like an enormous gap to me.

I worried about miscarriage the whole way through my 1st pregnancy ( I had heavy bleeding and lost the twin at 6 weeks), and all those months of worrying really spoilt the pregnancy for me.

I worried the whole way through my second pregnancy that I'd harmed the baby, after a lot of over-indulgence before I found out I was pg,

So, my aim for this pregnancy is not to worry at all, but to enjoy it, and to take each day as it comes. Having said that I was off out to buy a couple of tops when I had a very faintly, slight pink discharge (sorry to go into so much detail after only 'meeting' you 2 minutes ago) and promptly feared the worst. I have reminded myself of my promise, so I'm trying not to think about it!

Sprout, how old is your 1st? and is it dd or ds? Do either of you have a preference?

Monkey, dd will be 3 in exactly a month's time. Last time I really wanted a girl, but ended up being convinced dd was a boy - to the extent of not believing the midwife for a split second when she said I'd had a girl! This time round I'm more balanced (so far), but can't really think that far ahead at the moment. I'm just looking forward to my scan at the end of this month, when I hope we'll be able to see a heartbeat.
Your mention of twins has got me worried. Not sure I could cope with two more!

I really want another boy, whereas I think that dh would like a girl. Now I've got used to the idea I really want to tell people, but know I should wait.

Like everyone else I am feeling very cautious, much more so than first time round. Alot of my friends have miscarried recently. Anyway not to put too much
Sprout - how come your first scan is end of the month? I thought they did them at 12 weeks?

Hi - I found out last weekend that I am finally pregnant too and very happy. It will be number 2 as we already have a wonderful little girl (nearly 2). It is reassuring to read that i am not the only one second time round to be really cautious and am paranoid about miscarriage. We almost lost our dd1 early on in the pregnancy and it has made me really aware of how vulnerable they are and how easily it can all go horribly wrong. I wish I wasn?t so worried all the tiime and could relax and enjoy it, but have to admit that after the initial excitement I have had a week of severe negativity - suspecting m/c at every twinge! I must snap out of it as I will be a nervous wreck if I ever make it to 40 weeks!
Monkey - I am also experiencing a very light pinkish discharge and despite my paranoia I am sure that it is ok if it doesn?t get heavy and no major cramps. Hope it eases off and you can relax again and really enjoy this time around.

Buttercup, I'm not in the UK so the health care is different. My gynae can do a scan herself at any time, and is more than willing to do one as early as possible to check for a heartbeat - with my mc five years ago I didn't discover til wk12 that the foetus has stopped growing at wk6, which was distressing. So she's seeing me at the end of wk7 to see if everything is OK.
Here the doctor sees you once a month until about the 7th or 8th month, then every 2 weeks. I lose track of how many scans she did when I was pg with dd. It really made me appreciate (for once!) the fact I wasn't still in the UK with the NHS way of doing things.

Cheered up by yesterday afternoon and went and got those tops - all in sale - 3 for under £20 - can't knock that.

when's anyone else going to tell their kids? I've told most of my family now, so it feels wierd not telling my own boys. otoh, they've got no cencept of time, soif I tell now, the next 8 months will seem very long.

Can't wait for my gynae to get back from holiday so I can go & see him next week & get the ball rolling. I am also trying not to think of twins!

Don't mention twins! I have a few sets in my family - all on the female side, so it is a possibility for me. I feel like I'm putting on weight already, which I don't remember with ds, although that may be all the ginger biscuits I'm eating while trying to avoid getting morning sickness! Anyway, convinced myself that it's twins and that I won't be able to cope!
Ds is too young to understand, but we did tell him, as it seems more real telling someone, even if they are only 14 months old and more interested in a singing telephone!

Monkey, I'm in Brussels (hence the strange nickname!). Hope none of my friends use mumsnet - or, even worse, colleagues - as I guess they could identify me quite easily from some of my postings.
Glad you had fun shopping. Are you feeling sick yet? I felt queasy earlier in the week, wondering if I was imagining things, but yesterday and today I've been fine... except for worrying if that's a bad sign! On the other hand, have had "tingly" boobs all week, a feeling a bit like when your milk is coming in.
I'm saving telling family the good news for when they come to visit before Easter. And I won't tell dd until I have to explain why "Mummy's got a fat tummy" (well, even fatter than usual ).

Can I join in? I wasn't going to say anything yet as I'm only 5 weeks, but seeing as the numbers are growing, I thought I'd come clean. Also, will be nice to talk about it as I have only told a very few people (and will keep it that way for as long as poss!) and am too busy to think about it myself most of the time!

Congrats to you Chanelno5. I thinks I was 5 weeks on Thursday - as doc away, only got web site calculator to go by, but I'm sure it's not too different. We all seem to be almost exactly the same. I've had a bit of achy boobs, but not much, and am tending to wake in the night, or early for a pee, but other than that no 'real' symptoms & ok. Didn't have morning sickness in either of my other pregnancies, but did have chronic fatigue, which lasted nearly the whole pregnancy, so I think I'd rather have a few weeks of nausea & a bit of puking that 9 months of fatigue followed by - er 9 months of fatigue. Erm - can someone remind me why we're doing this!!!? Only joking - still very excited - had a sly look at bunk beds today, much to dh's amusement.
