Just thought I would share the final countdown with anyone out there going through the last few weeks of bump-dom.

Be so lovely if the baby came a bit early or at least on time (six days late with first).Want to wear fashionable clothes again, put my shoes on without getting so worn out I need a nap afterwards, painting my toenails, getting ready in the morning without it feeling like an Olympic event, walking like a regular person rather than like someone who has wet themselves!!
(this may become a reality if I dont do any pelvic floor exercises!)

Ha! Wont be long now, really want to use all the new baby stuff that is piling up.

Good luck to all of you and hope you enjoy the last few weeks of being able to sit down and rest legitimately

i have been doing all the above plus ironing and nothing happens i am a day late and still no sign of the baby got a hospital appointment tomorrow and will be getting a sweep. in northern ireland you are only allowed to go 10 days over then your induced so should be taken in next thursday/friday for induction .
its so annoying as i wanted to do oit myself this time

woose · 01/10/2008 09:51

Nappyaddict Well we have just finished renovating our house (it has taken 4 years!!!) At the weekend my DH put on a new back door and this meant we could have access to the downstairs loo, which has been out of use for a very very long time. There were cobwebs and dust and all sorts all over the walls, so I had to brush them

Will try scrubbing floors today.

The curry didn't work in the end, although I thought it would. I had some contractions during the night and then had to go the loo because I had a bit of a dodgy tummy and I had heard that could be a sign, but then I woke up this morning feeling fine, so all came to nothing.

Sambads It is good you have a sweep booked in so quickly after due date. It is good to have something to focus on. I hope it works. My MW told me yesterday that it is more likely to work with a second pregnancy. However, as I think I have already mentioned on here she is not known for her accuracy and scientific facts.

purpleflower · 01/10/2008 11:56

My sweep on Saturday didn't work although this is my 2nd time. I'm booked in for another on friday so hopefully that will work. she said on friday she will ring the hospital and book me in for induction on monday when I will be 10 days over. I'm really hoping it doesn't come to that as I still want my homebirth.

I had a curry last night woose, didn't work either. I thought it might as I've had a show on mon and yesterday evening.

I hope the sweep does something for you Sambrads.

Has anyone on this thread had there babies yet? Or have we jinxed ourselves?

woose · 01/10/2008 19:55

Purpleflower Is it your DS birthday tomorrow? I am sure you said that.

It is my DS birthday on 14th Oct. and I will be booked for induction on 13th if nothing happens, so I could have LO on DS birthday. I really hope it doesn't come to that.

nappyaddict · 01/10/2008 21:44

woose - nothing come of the scrubbing of floors then yet

woose · 01/10/2008 22:36

No. Am fed up!!!

Have just been bouncing on my ball, but now I have got a really bad headache so I am going to go to bed

nappyaddict · 01/10/2008 23:14

bambi06 · 02/10/2008 21:37

just to giv eyoumy story..tee hee..i was 21 days late with my third!!! an dwoul dhave happily waited fo rhim to decide himself to make an appearance but my waters broke three days before i then go tan infection..damn and had to be induced..not nice!!worse labour fromall three of mine, so much more intense..although quick..4 hours from start to finish!! my first was 19 days late and natural..my second 10 days late... i loved bein gpregnant and didnt wan tot force anything..al babies were fine so no need for medical intervention.. i just cook them longer thats all!!

yousaidit · 03/10/2008 05:46

hi everyone; I saw MW wed, i'm now 38+4 and baby not engaged yet... have nw got hacking cough that is causing wee to fly out whenever i cough! so am now desperate for baby to arrive!!!!

Have got hosp app at 41wk, MW said it will prob be to do a sweep, but MW said she will do home visit day after to try a sweep at home, which i thiught would be nicer; could i ask hospital to let mw do sweep at home rather than them or am i better letting hospital do it? Am now working on assumption baby will be late!!!

ronshar · 03/10/2008 09:31

Yousaidit. It wouldnt make much difference you does your sweep. But normally they like to give it 48hours to see if effective. The good thing about hospital sweep would be that you could take a good walk to "help" things get going.

Bambi06, how did you convince them to leave you for 21 days? I was dragged in by my ankles at 14 days with DD1. But then it was 9 years ago

frazzledbutcalm · 03/10/2008 10:59

Good luck to you all. With dc4 hospital and midwives couldnt believe how far down the babys head was from about 34 weeks, they were all convinced i was going to have baby imm. At 37 weeks i was told head was so far down it must be almost poppin out! Also told bag of waters were so huge and bulging they must pop imm. I had 5 sweeps over the next 3 weeks and nothing happened!!!!! Eventually induced by breaking of waters, no pain or contractions but was ready to push 10 mins later!!
Think the jist of my story is baby will only arrive when ready. Hope its as soon as you all would like.

woose · 03/10/2008 13:13

yousaidit I know what you mean about the cough and wee situation. I have been exactly the same and I have had cough/cold for 3 weeks, and it seems to not want to go away.

I am beginning to feel embarrassed at things I go to with DS as they all say is that baby not here yet! I want to scream 'Does it look like it?' I feel like a bit of a freak!

I did talk to one woman yesterday who said that when she had her sweep it started things off nearly straight away and she had the baby that very day, so I am hoping that will be the same story for me on Monday.

yousaidit · 03/10/2008 13:19

woose ah, glad i'm not the only social pariah regarding random wees!! My friend rang up today ('any twinges yet?' grrr.....) and i told her about being booked in for sweep: we both pondered how dh's would probably do it themselves!!!

Frazzledbutcalm: you must be like superwoman to resist 5 sweeps!!!!

frazzledbutcalm · 03/10/2008 13:23

superwoman? I was very i'd been able to resist 5!
1 of them was by a doctor with huge hands and he said he'd been very rough and it would definitely put me into labour. It didnt.

ronshar · 03/10/2008 13:44

Why do people phone to ask if any twinges. Do they not think you would have said something?
I have had two messages already today. I'm not due to Monday. At least people know not to phone

5 sweeps. I am in awe of the staying power of those membranes. I think that is my issue as well. My membranes just are too strong. With DD1 labour didnt really get going until waters were broken 12 hours into induction.
With DD2 my waters broke 10 mins before I had finished delivering. My midwife said she could see them bulging but they didnt want to break. She was considering doing it herself when they went with a bang. All over the living room carpet missed all the carefully laid out plastic backed sheets!!!

purpleflower · 04/10/2008 12:22

I have a Baby

Born yesterday at 9.30pm weighing 8lbs 10 1/2ozs. She is perfect.

I got my homebirth but only just. She was born with the paramedics at the door waiting to transfer me because she had meconium in her waters but it turned out good in the end.

woose · 04/10/2008 15:05

Congratulations purpleflower so glad you got your homebirth in the end as you wanted. Hope you are all well.
Take care xxx

woose · 04/10/2008 15:06

Has anyone else had baby, or had any symptoms of labour. Nothing here unfortunately!!

yousaidit · 04/10/2008 19:54

Congratulations purpleflower ! Hope you and your dd are doing well!

ronshar · 05/10/2008 13:39

Well done Purpleflower. Brilliant.

Still nothing here.

Sambrads had her beautiful little girl on Thursday. She was in labour when she went for her sweep at midwife clinic

bateeha24 · 05/10/2008 19:01

hi ladies im 37+4 had some backache on 1 side only but nothing further than that .i've been drinking lots of raspberry leaf tea ,do lots of walking and still nothing . congratulations
purpleflower glad its all over for you for the rest of us keep trying and waiting

woose · 05/10/2008 19:10

Congratulations to Sambrads too. Wow that is amazing that she was in labour when she had her sweep. Maybe I will be when I go in for mine tomorrow!

Last night I was up from 3.00am with contractions. They were coming every 10 mins or so and lasting about 1 minute. They were quite painful, I had to clench my fists through the pain. However, when I got out of bed this morning and started the day they went away. Today has been a tough day because of being tired, but my DH has helped quite a bit with DS. I am wondering what this all means, do you think something is starting to happen? Why do you think it all stopped like that?

bateeha24 · 05/10/2008 19:26

yes congratulations to sambrads as well .well done . well woose i think they might had stopped to give your body a preparation for whats coming and a rest too best of luck woose hope everything goes well

ronshar · 06/10/2008 09:06

Woose it is all preparation for the real event. I think our bodies like to tease us. When is your sweep?
Due day for me. No hope of a sweep until next Tuesday as midwife made it clear she wont see me before 41 weeks. Unless I need to obviously.
