Just thought I would share the final countdown with anyone out there going through the last few weeks of bump-dom.

Be so lovely if the baby came a bit early or at least on time (six days late with first).Want to wear fashionable clothes again, put my shoes on without getting so worn out I need a nap afterwards, painting my toenails, getting ready in the morning without it feeling like an Olympic event, walking like a regular person rather than like someone who has wet themselves!!
(this may become a reality if I dont do any pelvic floor exercises!)

Ha! Wont be long now, really want to use all the new baby stuff that is piling up.

Good luck to all of you and hope you enjoy the last few weeks of being able to sit down and rest legitimately

BlueJellie · 17/09/2008 22:27

anyone else getting tingly/sharp pains in their cervix? Been getting them since 35 weeks! Am 37 now x

belgo · 18/09/2008 08:00

Bluejelly - yes! most likely it's the baby pressing down on nerves. Very sharp pain sometimes.

CantSleepWontSleep · 18/09/2008 08:11

belgo - haven't seen you on ante-natal for a while - get over and say hello .

Just less than 2 weeks to go here, but I'm not in any rush. Hoping we can get lots more building works done at home first!

belgo · 18/09/2008 09:05

Hi CSWS - I've lost track of the ante natal thread - it's so long!

Wouldn't it be nice to know exactly when these babies are arriving, so we could plan our lives perfectly around them

KJ11 · 18/09/2008 11:07

Still nothing - seeing the midwife for routine appointment so we'll see how far down the head is! impatient!!

KJ11 · 18/09/2008 11:18

also, has everyone packed their hospital bags - put some stuff in last night and really not sure what to put in - help??

purpleflower · 18/09/2008 11:24

I'm still here, the irregular contractions from yesterday have just turned into a dull ache like period pain now

I have packed a bag but it is only the bare minumum as I am planning a home birth. It has baby stuff so DP can grab it here and another bag with a change of clothes, shower stuff and pads for me. It's not packed properly as I plan not to use it.

threekidsareyoumad · 18/09/2008 11:50

40 + 4 and considering acupuncture or reflexology to get things moving - really not keen on going down the hospital induction route...anyone got any experience to share?

nappyaddict · 18/09/2008 11:54

these are all the things that a group of us tried when we were expecting that worked. some are a bit bizarre though

bouncy on the top sex
thai food
sweeping
weeding the garden
star jumps
bouncing on a trampoline
cleaning all the windows
wiping the walls
orange juice
raspberry and cranberry juice
rotating their hips on a birthing ball
washing the car
figs
mini golf
bowling
yoga
chamomile tea
ginger
dancing
massaging the roof of the mouth??
mix ketchup, soda and bbq sauce and pour over chicken wings??

gill86 · 18/09/2008 12:52

so how does massaging the roof of the mouth help

purpleflower · 18/09/2008 13:00

I'm going to take DS out on the trampoline and see if that does anything. I just have to remember to go to the toilet first incase I think my waters have gone and really its just a weak pelvic floor

woose · 18/09/2008 14:11

I was induced at the hospital last time. my waters broke and I was having contractions but they did not really do a lot for two days. So I went in and was induced. I wont say it was a pleasant experience. Very painful, although I was able to bounce on the birth ball and move a round a bit. The induction led to epidural and then after about 3 1/2 hours pushing they got the forceps out!!! My last birth was completely what I didn't want, but then just had to do what was best for my DS. I hope to have a more relaxed experience this time round. Sorry to not be more positive three kids.

nappyaddict · 18/09/2008 15:22

gill - no idea. but massaging the foot is supposed to work as well isn't it (didn't for my friend though)

gill86 · 19/09/2008 07:37

anyone had any luck yet or we all still try to get dd or ds to come inti the world

rarebreed · 19/09/2008 08:46

Still here, had friends round last night, everyone was placing bets on when baby will arrive, OH reckons it will be Monday.

As much as i'm looking forward to PFB arriving, i just can't get my head around the fact i could be sitting here holding my baby this time next week

ronshar · 19/09/2008 11:03

Reflexology this morning. Devine. Lady warned me that she has had several clients go into labour within 24 hours. I told her I would pay her lots of money to make me go into labour today

Started Evening primrose yesterday and I have finally found a shop which has some Raspberry leaf capsuals. Getting them later.

It is like a military expidition!!!

woose · 19/09/2008 13:17

all my friends were taking bets yesterday too. As MW said it would be this weekend (what does she know!!!) my friends think this is really what will happen and see it as fact. It could be quite disappointing if it doesn't happen.

Ronshar: what is the evening primrose for?
xxx

ronshar · 19/09/2008 20:59

I have been told it helps to get the Cervix ripe. I love that word. Ripe.
I'm not sure how exactly but then I am willing to give anything a go!!!

Fingers crossed for this weekend for you Woose.

babybarmy · 20/09/2008 16:24

I have bounced on a trampoline all morning and still no baby ;-)

I'm not due until 5th Oct and have planned to have a 'sweep' ( makes me think of my bits as some sort of chimney flue!) on the 7th if still no baby.Seems ages away :-(

Drumming my fingers waiting now!

nappyaddict · 20/09/2008 18:05

babybarmy - i think you have to at least be overdue for it to work lol

woose · 20/09/2008 22:12

I think I might get the Evening Primrose tablets out then!

I don't think this LO will be out for a while yet though. I think this weekend was just wishful thinking on everyone's part. I have had no niggles or pains. Just done my knee in whilst trying to plant bulbs!!

In some ways I am glad it is not happening because my DS has a terrible cold and he was up til 2am last night crying his head off. We are all totally exhausted today. Normally on a Saturday morning my DH gets up with our DS and I have a (very little) lie in. However, when we have all had a bad night this arrangement seems to fall by the wayside, and I end up doing everything, whilst he stays in bed!!!

I have had about 5 texts today from people asking whether something is happening. And yesterday I had my in laws phoning up and fussing. Very annoying. I am not even overdue yet. What is it going to be like next weekend!! I could have 2 or three more weeks of this. I think I might go mad!

babybarmy · 21/09/2008 15:54

oh ok..so just impatient isn't enough Nappyaddict lol

Ahh well..we are just going to have to wait. I agree Woose about people asking if the baby is here yet. I get it everyday and Im not due for two weeks..feel like I'm disappointing folk and being selfish by keeping her in! I would gladly pay now for her to come out, I look like a weeble.

ronshar · 22/09/2008 09:24

How are we all today? Any news

woose · 22/09/2008 09:47

No news. The MW is now officially wrong about the baby coming at the weekend.

I am so fed up, I just need a moan this morning. I feel like my body is just falling apart.

  1. I have a really bad sore throat and cold
  2. I have hurt my knee and can't bend down
  3. I have a bad back, so can't sleep on left side
  4. Have bad hip so difficult to sleep on right side
  5. Stretch marks
6 Can't sleep
  1. No clothes to wear as all too small
  2. Friend who is also same amount pregnant as me has put on 9 pounds!!! I have put on 3 1/2 stone

Oh I could go on and on....

Was going to go for massive walk but not sure if such a good idea with my knee. May go for a swim instead.

How is everyone else feeling? Are you all trying the suggested methods for starting labour off?
