Just thought I would share the final countdown with anyone out there going through the last few weeks of bump-dom.

Be so lovely if the baby came a bit early or at least on time (six days late with first).Want to wear fashionable clothes again, put my shoes on without getting so worn out I need a nap afterwards, painting my toenails, getting ready in the morning without it feeling like an Olympic event, walking like a regular person rather than like someone who has wet themselves!!
(this may become a reality if I dont do any pelvic floor exercises!)

Ha! Wont be long now, really want to use all the new baby stuff that is piling up.

Good luck to all of you and hope you enjoy the last few weeks of being able to sit down and rest legitimately

bouncy on the top sex haha (although have tried sex a couple of times but there is no way I'm going on top!)
thai food
sweeping done
weeding the garden done
star jumps
bouncing on a trampoline done
cleaning all the windows
wiping the walls
orange juice done
raspberry and cranberry juice
rotating their hips on a birthing ball
washing the car
figs
mini golf
bowling - i worked in a bowling alley, i now try and avoid them!
yoga
chamomile tea
ginger
dancing
massaging the roof of the mouth??
mix ketchup, soda and bbq sauce and pour over chicken wings??

After everybody telling me I would be early it's not looking likely. I am hoping that it doesn't decide to make an appearance on DS's bday which will make it 6 days late!

trell · 22/09/2008 10:39

Thought I'd check in today and really pleased this thread is still going. Sorry you're so fed up woose at least you can get some of these things off your chest and we all understand . I'm 40+ 1 today and still no twinges/pains. Have had a weekend of mowing lawn, weeding, washing windows, cleaning car, overhauling DS's bedroom, a few hours on the space hopper, went to 2 parties on Sat and still nothing. Have booked in for a sweep with midwife on Friday so hopefully it'll be here by next weekend (fingers crossed!). How is everyone else doing?

sambrads · 22/09/2008 10:51

hi everyone can i join???
ronshar how are you feeling ???

i have 8 days til go and starting to get excited and nervous. my gp said last wednesday that i would have the baby within a week so wednesday here i come

i dont think i will to be honest

purpleflower i am the same as you regarding ds birthday . my ds will be 2 on thursday and i am having a party for him on saturday so hopefully she will stay put until saturday night at least

i had a show over a week ago and have been having pains and feel like she is trying to push her way out of my bits .

woose · 22/09/2008 12:50

Sambrads, I have had that too. It just feels like LO is trying to battle its way out, quite painful sometimes, and the shapes my tummy gets in sometimes is so weird.

Just been to the chemist to ask if there is anything to take for my cold, they said no just paracetamol. Does anyone know of anything else that may help? I have just had a nice bowl of chicken soup and that has made me feel a bit better and I have got some hot choc for later, and am going to have a bath, so a lovely relaxing afternoon I hope before collecting DS at 5pm.

I am so massive, I must look a sight, when I went to the shops I felt like everyone was staring at me

lexysmith · 22/09/2008 13:17

Can I join in too??
I am 38 +2 and so utterly utterly BORED with being pregnant!!!!!

Had grand plans to walk DD to school every day (about 2 miles round trip) and did it for ooo.... 3 days before pelvic floor gave out in embarrasing wet knicker incident.

Woose - your friend who has put on nine pounds can surely not be expecting a baby? Perhaps its just a stubborn bit of steak pie? Whatever, give me her address because I'd quite like to kill her..... I have no idea how much weight I've gained but do know that NOTHING fits me - not even massively large and unattractive big pants. Am unable to leave house without aid of huge coat belonging to 24 stone male friend.

It can't get any worse.... surely.....

lexysmith · 22/09/2008 13:20

by the way - swimming sounds like great idea but how to deal with runaway ladygarden when can't actually see it from any angle that doesn't involve serious injury????
Can't face the walk from changing room to pool knowing that might be trailing on the floor....

hedgepig · 22/09/2008 14:26

hello can i join too? I'm 38 +2 and I'm a tad on the bored side to say the least. I have nothing ready in the house and we are still decorating but I don't care., I just want to have the baby.
lexysmith I though about swimming but the local pool is very small and used by the community so there are just one or 2 slots you can go to in the week and my brain is too tired to work out which those are

ronshar · 22/09/2008 14:28

I have taken the immac approach. Just smear it on and hope for the best! Who knows what it looks like. Most of all I dont really care anymore

WheresTheAuPair · 22/09/2008 14:41

Lol at woose - are you me? i've got stinky cold too so I sympathise! PG ladies should not be forced to hobble about blowing their noses and look even more undignified!!

35 weeks today and massive- if I could i'd stay in now as i'm sure I look freakily big

Been living in the same pair of black tracksuit bottoms-fed up of them now tho they are the comfiest things at the moment. Done away with all glamour today and hiding in DH's fleece too- nice.

Baby seems to have moved overnight tho as have no pelvic pain at all today! Feels fab to not move around like old lady but makes me wonder if thats a good thing or not...

ronshar i attacked mine blindly with a razor this morning and yet again seemed to have shaved an arrow shape into it! LOL. going to try immac tomorrow...

nappyaddict · 23/09/2008 00:07

purpleflower how many times you have to wait until you are overdue

purpleflower · 23/09/2008 00:12

I know, I know

I just want this baby out now. I'm due on 26th, my nephew is 2 on the 29th, my SIL is due the 1st and DS is 2 on the 2nd.

LittlePushka · 23/09/2008 00:25

Oh Purple flower,...I am so envious of you! I have a two year old and a 6 month old and I will not have any more.

I get relly emotioanl when I see pregnant ladies becasue I think it is such an incredible (and way too brief) thing. Do not wish it way,..you will forget it soon enough! I know it is uncomfortable etc etc but truly I miss stroking my belly and the odd feeling of moving inside...you know, the things a photo or a video cannot really capture.

I say to all you gals there or thereabouts,...sit back and stroke that belly and dream of a due date at least 12 days over!

good luck with all your bumps

woose · 23/09/2008 09:59

That is a good idea Little Pushka. I should be thinking 10th Oct. not 28th Sept.

Definitely going to go swimming today as feeling a little bit better. I will also try and clean the floors as they look really minging.

lexysmith LOL at ladygarden trailing on the floor
WheresTheAuPair I have attacked my ladygarden with the razor like you and I dread to think what it looks like. I hope nothing is on show when I ho swimming. I think the lifeguards are getting increasingly worried when they see me approaching the pool these days. They are fearful of having to deliver the baby. One of them said to me last week that he would need to go and get some scissors in case he had to cut the chord

Trell it sounds as if you tried everything at the weekend to get things moving. I am sure it will be soon for you. Let us know how you are going?

ronshar · 24/09/2008 11:01

Midwife told me yesterday that I shall almost certainly be late with this baby!!!!
I was late with both DD's.
It is a bad day when you are trying to convince another lady to stick her hand inside you for a feel up isnt it.. Midwife was having none of it. She told me to wait until 41 weeks and then come in for a sweep.
I really need to remember I am not actually due until 6th October. I have got myself all worked up about being late that I havent even made it too my due day
Nuts I tell you, Nuts.

woose · 24/09/2008 11:46

Ronshar, the MW may be wrong and your baby will be on time or even a bit early. I hope you don't have too long to wait. It is so frustrating. I too have to wait until 41 weeks before they will do a sweep, then once they have done that they will automatically book me in for induction for 42 weeks. I really don't want it to come to that, but I feel it will. I don't know why, but I think because the baby is small I am feeling that maybe it just needs a little longer to get bigger.

Had a good swim yesterday, but nothing came of it. I took my big swimming float and held it in front of me so that it hid a little of the straggly ladygarden. Most of the time I am quite confident about my body but just over the last few weeks I have become quite shy about it.

This morning I have been for a really long walk with hills and everything, so maybe that will help. I do have quite a few strange twinges now!! Passed loads of nice houses for sale on my walk which just reminded me that I don't really have enough room in my house to house another LO, but I have failed to convince DH to move over the last 9 months, and so we are stuck in a tiny cramped house for the time being, goodness knows what it will be like!!!

Did anyone see that Sex Education programme on channel 4 last night? What about that 37 week pregnant lady they had close ups of. Does anyone really look like that when they are 37 weeks. I look like a monster compared to her!!!

lexysmith · 24/09/2008 19:10

I saw that programme Woose - that woman was WAY too slim to be real. You couldn't actually see her breathing so I think she was fake.... You could make two of her just out of my back side.....

Point of general interest.... my midwife told me today that they are trialling a new thing in Leeds which is a band you wear around your middle in the third trimester. It has coloured bits on it and goes from red to amber when your uterus is starting to 'ripen' and then goes green to indicate that labour will start within 48 hours! She didn't know how the trial was going but what a great idea if it works... I'm sure women would pay a fortune to know when they are going to go into labour....

ronshar · 24/09/2008 21:51

I have to get me one of those bands I live on south coast do you think they will send me one?

bateeha24 · 25/09/2008 00:41

hi ladies can i join in ?
i am 36+1 and cant wait for this baby to come out ! i got aneamic last week and have some pains on my left side the consultant gave me some iron tablets . mw had checked me but she said that the cervix its still closed and everything looks nice and healthy . looks like i still have a long way to go .

nappyaddict · 25/09/2008 19:16

any of the overdue ladies tried any of my methods?

i have 2 more to add to the list

laying a patio
cleaning the dishwasher

woose · 25/09/2008 20:02

I am just still walking loads. Everyone thinks I am mad!!

My bump feels really low down today, much lower than before. When I went to the MW last time I was 3/5 engaged. Is this good, or does this mean there is still a way to go?

nappyaddict · 25/09/2008 20:02

woose - when is your due date?

woose · 26/09/2008 03:58

Nappyaddict Wow it is your due date today!!

Mine is in 2 days on the 28th.

I can't believe I am posting at this time but I don't know what else to do. I feel dreadful. I have had this really bad cough/cold thing for about 2 weeks now and it just seems to be getting worse and worse as the days go on. I am not sure how much longer I can keep going. There doesn't seem to be anything to take for it, and I think the worst thing is that there seems to be no opportunity for me to be able to rest and try to recover. Nobody to help me look after DS. I just seem to trudge around doing all the things I would do normally because otherwise being stuck inside all day with toddler would be a nightmare. The cough is just giving me a really bad headache too and I feel weak. Goodness knows how I am going to have any strength to give birth. When I say this to people they will sayI need to rest, but I think how is that going to happen. I don't really have family members around to help me and my DH is really short staffed at work and cannot really take any time off.

Sorry for long post. I feel I need to unload.

I am going to be even more knackered now tomorrow now having had only a few hours sleep

When will it be over

hedgepig · 26/09/2008 10:28

woose sorry you are feeling a bit crap, I am just getting over a cold and feel much better today so there is light at the end of the tunnel . I'm luck my ds is at school so I can laze around but it gets to school kicking out time and I look back and think I haven't achieved anything. I'm just so bored and I keep going shopping which will not make my maternity leave last very well. Thanks for the hints, I do need a new patio so maybe would be a good time to start that!

I have a mw appointment today so I will ask about sweeps, I had a cs last time so induction options are limited, and I'm convinced I will go over and end up with another cs

nappyaddict · 26/09/2008 12:56

purpleflower - happy due date go get on that trampoline!!

purpleflower · 26/09/2008 15:49

Well I'm still here

I'm booked in for a sweep tomorrow so hopefully that will help speed things up. I really don't want it to be monday or thursday though.

I'm so sorry you feel so bad woose, I'm just getting over the cold and cough now. I've still got the cough and I'm sure I can feel my pelvis grinding together everytime. It's also worse at night.

MIL and FIL had DS for a couple of hours today which was nice although I didn't rest I cleaned At least they had him though, I asked my Dad when I was at my worst with the cold and he wouldn't as he didn't want to catch the cold himself and DS had it too.
