Oh God Greedy - what a nightmare, but it sounds like you did brilliantly! To see that happen and to see her injuries, you really held it together well to talk to her and try to stop the blood. I dont think it would have mattered what you said, just having you there and talking would have been a huge comfort to that lady. What an awful thing to happen though... If you really want to get in touch then you could maybe try the local paper or the police who will have dealt with it and see if they will pass on a message to her or the family. If she has passed away they may find comfort in knowing that someone was with her just after it happened, or if she is still alive, she may like to know that someone was helping her. It must be hard to be involved in something like that and then just be expected to get on with things and not wonder about her... But it sounds like you were a star!

Hi fettle, I think I'm working Mon / Tues on the week you mean... But we're around at the weekends if you ened up doing anything like the zoo. It would be great to meet up but I can imagine that if you are only home for a few days, then its going to be tough squeezing everything in. Just let me know nearer the time what your plans are.

Hi Rainbow, I confess I went on the Atkins diet after Theo and ahve lost 1 and a half stone. I'm about the same weight now as before I had Max about 5 years ago so its really worked for me Good luck!!

MrsMcJnr · 16/08/2008 23:08

Hello ladies, somehow I managed to lose you all again, so sorry! We had MIL and SIL over to stay (they rented flat above us) so we were hectic and then we all got colds?yes, in this heat!

Anyway, hope you are all having a good weekend! ours is long this week as Friday was a public holiday. DH, DS and I went for a long walk yesterday (still familiarising ourselves with the new area!) and today we were at a BBQ at my parents, Xavier was so funny playing in the paddling pool . Classic comment from my Mother ?do you think he is cleverer than a monkey yet?!?

DS won?t take his morning feed from me he nearly did this morning and then changed his mind and I had to get him a bottle. That?s 5 days in a row now I?ll try for another week I think. I thought the problem was meant to be them giving up the boob not vv! Any experience anyone? This feed is the only one I am doing (trying to do) myself now and I wanted to keep on

Hey Bodders Isla sounds like a real cutie

Fettle hi would I do understand what you mean about Mondays, I just want to do the housework and be alone with DS but my Mum and Baby group is in the morning and I have a Spanish lesson in the afternoon so it never works out that way. Sorry to hear you were treated so badly at work

Honey ? how are your friend and her baby?

Oh Firsty ? what?s going on with you then? Have you tested?

Happy first birthdays to Ty and Theo

Honey ? hope you had great hols

Ahhh City congratulations hon!!! Sorry to hear being a Mummy has started off so scary

Lovely news Babylove Katelin?s a nice name

Greedy ? have you seen that Sawyer is in a film at the mo? Can you imagine, Sawyer, you, big screen, darkness, popcorn how are the kids? So sorry to hear about the accident it must have been awful but you did the very best you could and as Chooster said, gave her comfort and company.

Hello Chooster, hello EVERYONE!

fettle · 17/08/2008 13:17

Oh Greedy - that sounds pretty horrific - poor you. Poor kids as well. I agree with Chooster, contact the police - TBH they may want to speak to you anyway if they are investigating anything suspicious about the accident. Did the car that hit her not stop to help? My brother was first on the scene of a horrific accident quite a few years back and tried to help until the paramedics arrived. I won't go into details, but it sounded awful - I've no idea how he or you were able to deal with it, but I suppose you do when you are in that situation. Also to echo what Chooster said, the relatives of the 2 girls who died were grateful to meet my brother and the girl and boys who survived also were pleased to meet him and thank him. He had to talk and talk about it over and over again, so tell DH he has to keep listening to you and we will as well! Post-traumatic stress therapy means you have to get it out of your system by talking it through. My brother got a police bravery award for his help in the end.

Anyway, we are in no way ready to leave tomorrow morning - too interested in watching the Olympics!! Although DH has just gone out to strim the garden, so I ought to show willing and do something useful as well! Going to take my naming home to my Mum - haven't even started doing it yet and she'll love to help. Although she's having to deal with vaxing and de-humidyfying her house as it did flood last week!

Chooster - we may do something at the weekend, will let you know.

Hello MrsMc - sounds like you're making the most of your new idyllic life! Your mother's comment was a classic! When I caught Toby trying to the open the stairgate a couple of days ago, I realised that I have a pretty intelligent cheeky monkey on my hands!! How old is Xavier now? Is your period due? That's when I've had a few days of him refusing me and also when he's been teething so his gums are really sore he's been more reluctant.

Rainbowy - I've managed to lose Toby's baby weight and what I put on between pregnancies through just breast-feeding and being more active. Going to have to be more pro-active when I'm back from holiday, as I'm determined to lose more weight now!

Right - really have to go and do something useful!

greedygreedyguzzler · 17/08/2008 20:16

thanks chooster, thanks fettle. i was a bit crap in dealing with the whole situation really , but you made me feel a bit better. i know some people couldnt even have gone near the blood so i guess at least i didnt freak out and managed to do something.

i did try to contact the police fettle, but had no luck with getting through so gave up after my third attempt.........a bit lame i know! the woman who hit her did stop, but didnt help. i think she was a bit too shaken up herself and to be honest i dont think i could enlighten the police at all as to what happened cos i really only saw the woman once she was up in the air. anyway, i have contacted the local paper too and i am waiting to hear any news.

mrsmc - you made me laugh! i had a dream about sawyer not so long ago, and it had the potential to be really filthy...................but i am always so sickeningly faithful to dh in my dreams that i never get to do anything! I am always SO gutted when i wake up...............especially that time when it was SAWYER and he wanted ME!!!!!! AND....dont talk about the heat! have you forgotten how pants our weather is over here? dont rub it in!

well, i have finally had to put the stair gate up!!! marcy is a definate bum shuffler! which the other two find hilarious for some reason! but she can go at quite a speed now, so i have had to finally put the stair gate up. think i might start baby proofing the house tomorrow!

home alone tonight (well, alone with the kids!) cos dh has gone to belgium on business. i hate being alone and responsible!

fettle · 17/08/2008 22:49

yay!!!! Marcy moves!!!!!

Hope you all have great couple of weeks - may try and log on while at my Mum's if I get a chance.

MrsMcJnr · 17/08/2008 23:14

Evening ladies don?t remember if I told you but Xavier rolled off our bed last week, it was awful but thankfully he landed on a pillow and not the marble floor but he did have a big egg and a bruise on his head anyway our neighbour fell off her bed last night undoing her sandals (apparently the other foot slipped) you should see the state of her! Her eye is all puffy, her face and body are black and blue and she is in agony. I feel so sorry for her and so scared of the marble!

Fettle ? your poor brother, that must have been awful for him. Xavier is 29 weeks now, can?t believe he?ll be 7 months this week! Not had a period yet so not sure what the situation is there but he wasn?t even getting close enough to taste the milk. He did actually take a full feed this morning, I was so pleased! wow, you?ve done amazingly with your weight I signed up for Scottish Slimmers online tonight!

Greedy ? LOL at your fidelity! sorry, won?t mention the bloody heat again go Marcy!

iamamummy · 18/08/2008 11:24

morning ladies!

greedy - how awful for you and your children to witness such an accident, that poor poor lady too. you have done all you can and more for caring for that lady. yey!! for marcy bum shuffling!!

fettle - hope you have a nice time whereever you are going

mrsmcjnr - poor little xavier. oscar fell out of our bed last friday onto gloss tiles. i was going for a wee and i heard a thud - he was face down on the floor and screaming. 20 secs later he was giggling away and not a mark on him! i felt so terrible but took it as a HUGE sign that i just cannot leave him alone anymore as he is a lot more mobile that what he used to be. they will get lumps and bumps tho i guess its all part of the growing up process.

had loads to say but feeling under the weather today got bad chest, lost my voice and my head is banging.

had a row with dp friday. i was going out (pre-planned he had 2 weeks notice)4 o clock he brings 2 mates round and starts drinking. i was getting ready and assumed his mates would go, i went out at 8 they were still here so i asked dp to get rid of them and to stop drinking as he was looking after oscar. i come home later on to find about 40 beer cans a bottle of champagne and shot glasses everywhere so they had obviously made a night of it. i just think its so irresponsible to look after a baby and get totally plastered so next morning i told him that i would no longer leave him alone with our son as what he did was immature and irresponsible. was that uncalled for? and also my night out is supposed to be my night off and dp to get up with oscar in the morning. well i got up with oscar at 7am whilst dp laid in til 12 i just feel he gets to carry on as normal and since having oscar his life hasnt changed and he certainly hasnt grown up - makes me think twice about ttc

Hey Everyone - it goes quiet so i dont check too much and then when i do, it has gone mad! Officially 26 weeks now - yay!

Fettle - wow, a SAHM - go you! Hope you're enjoying your hol and the weather pics up a bit! Ooooooh you made me so jealous over the champagne! Thats my drink! I've only had 2 sips since i've been pg am missing it!

Bodkin - Go you for re-felting your shed roof - that sounds like hard work! Am enjoying being able to use "im pregnant" to get out of these sorts of things! Did DP have a nice time camping?

Rainbow - Hmn, are you saying that once little one is here i'll be tempted to have another?! Probably! so bored of being pregnant though!

Scorpio - no choc for 10 days?! how?! lol

Greedy - So sorry to hear about the accident you saw. Well done you for what you did - it is a damn sight more than a lot of people would do. I'd give yourself some time in regards to coming to terms with it......its a massive shock to you. If it doesnt settle then maybe it is worth speaking to someone but for now, i'd go easy on yourself. Please dont beat yourself up, you'll always find holes in what you did, it is human nature to do that and whilst it is easy for us to all tell you not to, you'll most prob continue to do so. However you should feel proud - you helped to save her. I'll keep my fingers crossed! Have fun with the baby proofing

Mrsmc - how is Spain? Lucky you with the long weekend - im looking forward to ours next Monday!!!! Sorry to hear Xavier was being a bit fussy on his feeds - hope it is all sorted now. Thanks, glad you like Katelin. We were laying in bed last night discussing other options incase she doesnt look like a katelin but we couldnt think of anything! Better get the name book out! Ooooh poor little one bumping himself! My only experience of marble floors is when i was a kid on hol in spain, i had to sleep on a blow up bed and everytime i turned over, it'd slide out underneath me! Was a bitch! Ended up with many bruises in 2 weeks! Just thought i'd share that for a laugh!

Iam - sorry you're not well, it is this crappy weather! Oh i agree with you on DP's behaviour, it isnt on. Hes got to take his responsibility seriously! Sorry to hear it didnt go as planned

Went to see the m/w last week - still dont like her. I told her i wanted a homebirth and she looked at me funny and said "you'll have to see the head midwife then for a meeting" so i asked her to arrange it. Baby fine though so at least that part went well!

greedygreedyguzzler · 18/08/2008 20:46

babylove - thats terrible about the homebirth, your midwife does sound like a bit of a cow! she should be encouraging homebirths............bodders and honey both loved theirs (as much as anyone can love giving birth!)

had a busy busy day.....these holidays are manic, but its nice doing fun stuff and deciding what we do every day instead of HAVING to go to school at certain times.

marcy has started saying "bye bye" when she waves and its just SO cute!!! had friends round this morning and as soon as they arrived she was waving at them saying "bye bye"!!!! dont think they took it personally, but when they were still here 20 mins before our next lot of friends were due to turn up i kind of wished they WOULD take it personally............and bugger off!!! will have to teach marcy to say that instead i think!!!!

gotta GO............MY CURRY CALLS!!! whoops sorry, about the caps! my diet has gone out of the window!!! can you tell!!!.............................my advice rainbow.................why bother dieting if you are going for no. 4 anyway!!!

rainbowdays · 18/08/2008 21:08

ARGGGG - just wrote to you all a lovely long post and lost it all,,,,,, argggg.

So instead in summary

greedy - nasty to witness accident but well done you.

Mrsmc- had breastfeeding strike as it is called with ds1, but you have done better than I did, I gave up after 3days of offering him. You are doing great.

Everyone- Thanks for all the dieting advice - will start tomorrow!!!!!

babylove123 · 19/08/2008 10:44

Morning - fantastic weather eh? I thought we were in August.......? Have i missed something?

Greedy - yep, i dont like my m/w either. I feel really self concious seeing her and cant ask her any of the Q's i want to! I said to her i was concerned because i was getting some seriously bad period pains (no bleeding) and was that ok? I felt i had to justify my Q by saying "ok, first baby so i get to ask the dumb Q's".....why did i do that? It is a perfectly good Q! Its not like i asked "do babies grow in the womb" or something nutty like that! Argh, i get annoyed with myself for not having the confidence but i just cant talk to her! Lol, rant over! Yeh i expect your hols are manic - not too much you can do with bad weather either. Awwwww bless little Marcy saying "bye bye"! I cant wait till mine starts saying things like that! However DP's first word was "bugger" maybe i should keep their "me" time to a minimum incase she catches something like that! Curry eh?....not a lover myself.....was it good though?

Rainbow - Argh at you losing your post! I've done that so many times! When im writing a big one, i highlight and copy it to make sure it doesnt go anywhere! Worth a try!

My cotbed sheets have just arrived! Got myself a deal on Ebay! £12.49 for 4 brand new! they are a rather bright strawberry colour so i may have to put sunglasses on Katelin when she wakes up in her cot, lol.

Ttyl

Hello, have just come back from Mamma Mia, loved it! though I bet I would have had more fun seeing it with you girls. We got there with 45 mins to spare for a drink but DH decided to read the billboards instead so I went off and had a glass of wine on my own, felt like I had no mates!!! Sob!

We had a rendez vous today with the girl who set up the website I go on here; she sold me a walker for Xavier. It?s perfect. It?s to stay at my folks as we don?t have room. He had a shot in it tonight and had a ball. I have a rule that he has to wear shoes in it though but all his are too small even though he?s never worn them, such a shame. I could tell from how he played with the toys on the walker that he?d love an activity station.

One of the Mums at the Mums and Babies Group I go to gave me a whole bag of clothes for Xavier from 9 months onwards, they are lovely, mostly designer stuff and some of them have not even been worn. What a lucky boy!

I got a sting from a poster on the Spanish website because I just asked about the liquid cereals they sell here and if they are any good (I do use them actually instead of milk in some dishes) this woman gave me a lecture about home made food and told me that she not only grew cooked and pureed all her children?s? fruit and veg but grew it herself too!

Now I?ll catch up ?.

MrsMcJnr · 19/08/2008 23:26

Iamamummy Hope you are feeling better. Sorry Oscar had a fall, it makes you feel sick when you see them lying like that screaming doesn?t it? As you say, it?s a wake up call. Xavier is now in peril in his Galt ring too, I?m sure he?s about to topple out so we are back to the playmate in the playpen as the only Mummy free amusement! I am sure all is fine in your house again now but for what it?s worth, I would have been furious too if my DH had done what your DP did. Very selfish

Firsty ? apparently lots of people here have really serious head injuries falling on the marble and taking off shoes is a classic way to do it as is drunken men taking off trousers! Ty sounds like a bright spark well done on the weight loss, that?s impressive. I?m on day 2 of my diet and still on track I use word too to write my posts.

Babylove ? 26 weeks wow! sorry you are not getting the best vibes from your MW. Mine was a pain at the start and I just used to go through my list of questions and ignore her attitude (and her advice to read only the things she gave me!) she was ok in the end I have to say. Stick to your guns though! Baby sheets sound cute; Xavier has blue and green ones (from Ikea).

Hey Greedy you ok hon? How cute Marcy sounds!

Thanks Rainbowdays I?ve managed to get him to feed 1 day in 6 but I really want to keep trying a bit longer. I wondered if it was hormonal and then got excited that maybe I was pg but sadly not, no sign of AF though.

Chooster ? meant to say, that is FABULOUS about your weight, you must be feeling so good about yourself

babylove123 · 20/08/2008 11:00

Hey everyone - is that sunshine i can see?! What is that big round yellow thing - a UFO?! lol.

Firststar - Oh im so glad i am not the only impatient one! I was the one out baby shopping when the 12 week scan was ok!!! I vowed to not buy my cot before 24 weeks though and i was 23+5 lol. And that was only because i was in town (town is 15 miles from us so we dont go often). Her nursery is done! I have some bits to get, some moses basket sheets, some muslin squares etc but other than that - we're ready for her!!!! Obviously i dont want her out yet, she isnt ready but at 38 weeks, i'd be happy for her to make an entrance!!!! Am slightly bored of being pregnant - does that sound awful?

Mrsmc - Ooooh, you saw mamma mia too? I made the mistake of seeing it when i was 21 weeks pregnant.......now the baby is addicted to abba! She LOVES dancing queen, not too fussed about the others other than SOS but if dancing queen comes on the radio......she bops away! Cute but highly worrying that it is only Abba that gives her her kicks, lol. Wow, cool about the walker for xavier. I love them, think they're great but i dont know if i could have one in my house....the layout isnt really designed for one....nor is my mum and dads really. Shame. Oooh, lucky you on the clothes for xavier - fantastic! Dont worry about the sting you had on a post.....i got one of those (well several) after my comment on breastfeeding. I dont see why ppl are allowed to judge how you do things for your baby but hey, it seems they can get away with it! Hmn, dont think im ever going to take to my midwife....if i have a homebirth im gonna be stuck with her too....great! Ikea - didnt even think of them for sheets.

Hope everyone has a good day

MrsMcJnr · 20/08/2008 23:09

Hey ladies quiet on here!

Hello Babylove hope you enjoyed the sunshine. LOL I never got bored of being pregnant thankfully as DS was 9 days late! I began to think I wasn?t really having a baby at all! Baby things are SO expensive here that Ikea is a godsend. We got a cot and highchair there too, perfectly fine. Next week we are meeting my grandparents in Gibraltar for lunch (they are on a cruise and it docks there) so I am hoping to get to Mothercare ? we?ll see!

greedygreedyguzzler · 21/08/2008 09:19

hey listen to you mrs! going to gibraltar for lunch indeed! how glamorous is your life?!! did i mention we had lunch at tescos the other day...................see, your not the only one who can do glamour!!!

babylove.......its good to be so excited about your baby! its lovely! brings back lots of memories. my friend is due in less than 2 weeks and i am very excited about that! she is a midwife and i keep telling her how lucky she is cos she has such knowledge and experience that most people dont have. she has nothing to worry about does she!

off to anglesey for a long weekend tomorrow. looking forward to it actually, which i dont normally when we see the inlaws. not looking forward to the drive though!

anyway, better go cos got lots to do before work later.

hello everyone else!

Chooster · 21/08/2008 10:47

Hi ladies, been a bit absent but all caught up now . Can't believe you got told off by a woman who grows her own baby food - does she not realise that most people are able / dont want to do that? Anyway, I'm sure you'll be making lovely things for Xavier . Has he taken well to his food? Sorry to hear about his bump, it is awful isn't it! It just makes you feel awful when they get hurt. Love the image of Xavier in his walker!!!

Grrrr - Iamamummy, DP was a bit badly behaved wasn't he . I'd have been thoroughly pissed off too and I think I would have kicked him out of bed long before midday so I could get a snooze in... Hope he makes it up to you.

Aw, so you've got a little bum shuffler, thats cute! Is Ellis back at school soon? First day back for the schools up here today so the traffic is just rubbish again.

You sound so prepared babylove! I bet her nursery looks fantastic . Lets hope they haven't made a mistake with the gender or you could have a boy with bright pink sheets I was at Ikea yesterday and got some lovely things for Theo's room. LOve their cot bumpers as they are really long and go pretty much all the way around the cot. MrsMc - We've got a highchair form Ikea for Theo at my mums house and its fab! Cheap and cheerful but its perfect and a hell of a lot easier to clean than the big cumbesome one we've got at home.

Can't believe you were felting a shed bodders!!!! Isla is as cute as a button isn't she?

All is well in ther chooster house, the boys are in good form and Theo is just getting bigger / stronger / cheekier by the day. He just loves a bit of rough and tumble with his big brother and its lovely to see them together. He's also started to realise that sleepimg through the night is a good thing . Except for last night as we had gone out to see a show at the festival and MIL was babysitting. We arrives back at 11.30 and she is cuddling Theo in the living room - that never bodes well does it . Finally got him off again at 1 am - Grrr!!! Max is doing well too but we are off to the docs next week as I'm wonderng whether he is suffering from sleep apnea - his snoring is getting quite bad and the other say his breathing was really laboured and he seemed to stop breathing for a few seconds, only to take sudden big breaths. He's also a bit more tired than normal during the day so I just want to check it out. He's always had enlarged tonsils...

Oh, and i didn't tell you that I had my first over night away from the boys on Monday. I was chatting to one of my best pals the other day and I was telling her I had loads of holidays. She works in sales and had a massive bonus month so she treated me to an overnight stay in bath . I flew down to bristol on Monday morning and then home again on Tuesday evening. We had such a great time but shame the weather wasn't a bit better...

Right, better be off... Am feeling knackered today as its been a pretty busy time. DH is trying to make the most of all the comedy shows / plays on but it means we've hardly had a night in together for ages. We're off to a play on Friday where they simulate plane crahses and the actors act out the black box recordings. Sounds a bit wierd . Not my first choice but I guess thats what something like the ed festival is about - trying things you wouldn't normally see.

Right, really better go. Am only in the office 2 days this week so better do some work

Chooster · 21/08/2008 10:51

Aaargh, ridiculous number of mistakes in that post and didn't mention who I was talking to a couple of times! Hope you call all figure it out... I wrote it over an hour or so so its a bit jumbled.

babylove123 · 22/08/2008 10:55

Hey Everyone - doing my usual daily check, lol.

MrsMc - Wow, lucky you not being bored of being pg.....i have been for about 8 weeks and am only 26 now! I think because i got started early and because we'd been TTC for a while, i sorted myself out mentally before we actually conceived! Now its just the long wait for her to come!!! Things are expensive in spain are they? We're looking at hols for autumn next yr in spain....seen some good deals. Only like a 5 day break but it would be nice to do something like with Katelin. Ooooh get you going to Gibralter for lunch! My lunch plans get as exciting as Whetherspoons once in a while! lol

Greedy - Yeh we're really excited about her, DP still talks to her every night and wishes her a good day in the morning! He doesnt do that to me! lol. Awwww @ your friend due in 2 weeks, she must be getting excited now! Yeh being a MW is the best thing to be in this situation! Although i bet it means she isnt allowed to whinge like we do about pregnancy niggles, lol. Ooooh, DP has family up in Anglesey too, hope you have a nice time! I've got the in-laws thing in sept..........

Chooster - Am i a little over-prepared? Considering in my last post it said "i need moses basket sheets and muslins" and since then i have both things?! Just things like simple baby wash, sudocrem etc left to get! I hope they havent made a mistake on the gender too - my boy better look good in pink!!!! My nearest ikea is about 45 miles each way away so i dont get there much....should though! Good to hear Theo is sleeping through - that must be nice! As for Max and sleep apnea - i have that. I've always had enlarged tonsils too, doctors call me "golfballs". When i get tonsilitis they close over the back of my throat. They wont remove mine though . I went in for a mini op last yr and i asked if i'd have to be put on a ventilator and they said "no, its too short a time to be under anesthetic, you'll just have an oxygen mask" and i felt relieved. However i came round and my chest was sore.....i asked what was wrong and they said "oh, its just your chest muscles are stretched from the ventilator". I said "um, no i wasnt on one...." and the doc said "we had to, you kept stopping breathing!!!!" whoops! I do it a lot though, always have! Your overnight stay in bath sounds like heaven - glad you had a good time! Oh and the play you're going to sounds a little strange.......interesting evening though!

Right, best be off.

HERES TO A LONG WEEKEND! WOO!!!!

Chooster · 22/08/2008 11:47

NO such thing as over-prepared with yuur first babylove . Its great you've got lots of stuff but it probably doesn't help your excitement and impatience I guess as pretty much the only thing you ar missing is Katelin . I think the middle bit does drag a bit although fortunately I never got fed up. I think once you hit the 30 weeks plus you feel like you're in the home stretch, but the 20-something weeks can feel like they go on forever.

Interesting about your sleep apnea, will they not take your tonsils out just to avoid giving you an op? I'll get Max checked out anyway as I dont want it to affect his concentration in later life when he's at school etc...

scorpio1 · 22/08/2008 11:48

Hi everyone

new pictures of dc on my profile....

Think we are pretty much ttc now but am being very relaxed. I still love being pg, setting up etc. Even giving birth isn't too bad!

Millie's cot is going to be here next weekend; also do any of you have tripp trapps?
