oh I remember my 2 weeks over with DS like it was yesterday (even though it was 16 months ago). WIsh I'd had so many friendly mumsnetters to share it with (as I recall it was just me moaning on endlessly whilst the rest of the due in FEb thread popped theirs out making me the LAST and in MArch ). And it was boiling.

anyhow
I am lurking madly, waiting for birth stories and names

Right I am so fed up now, the past twice DP and I have had relations it has kicked off a whole load of contractions, last night they were so painful I was hanging over my ball breathing through them, they were in waves coming every 5 mins lasting a good 45 secs. This went on for about an hour then I went to bed lay down and they stopped, same thing happened on Wednesday when I called the MW out and she checked me over and gave me the sweep. Never had this before, what is going on? DP thinks we should have more sex (he would) but what the point if it only makes me have contractions for a few hours then nothing.

Just been lying on the sofa looking at my belly. I think it was growing before my very eyes. I'm sure the baby is now bigger than me.

Get it out. Get it out. Get it out.

Must, must, must have sex tonight. Am hoping that my daily emotional rollercoaster dose of ER will be good enough but has failed so far.

ButterflyMcQueen · 11/07/2008 09:25

morning ladies and may i congratulate you all on still being intact!

not pleased?

ahh well

another night with very little sleep but -hey- whats new

That prostagalndin thing is obviously rubbish - old patriarchs wives tale if you ask me

hmm toddlers.. then sweep ...happy day!

mrsmacleod · 11/07/2008 10:52

Was totally convinced things were kicking off last night, even DH agreed (said he could see it in my eyes). Turns out it was just terrible wind and I realised that DH was a bit drunk

springerspaniel · 11/07/2008 12:43

Just been to Waitrose. Haagen Das on offer. Raspberry and meringue flavour. Yum. Am going to feed the baby out. It is currently doing somersaults due to frozen sugar rush.

min912 · 11/07/2008 13:01

Isn't it the other way around - you have the sweep and then have sex?? That way things are that bit more open already so the magic sperm can do its stuff...

I'm not physically overdue (10 days to go) but I am mentally well overdue. Is excessive grumpiness and weepy-ness a sign of imminent labour? Let's bloomin well hope so.

Am seeing the MW next week (when I will be 39 weeks) so if nothing has happened by then I will seriously think about asking for a sweep. Two weeks ago I was very anti-interventions of any kind but now I'm 'if it works, bring it on. NOW, dammit'.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

min912 · 11/07/2008 13:02

Also - dreamt this morning that my waters had broken. Woke up and of course they hadn't. That's just cruel of my subconscious and I can't help but wonder what I have done to make it hate me...

AggiePanther · 11/07/2008 13:22

Still here but have lost 2lbs and I read somewhere that was a sign of imminent labour ...how imminent I don't know

FrannyandZooey · 11/07/2008 14:58

having sex does not work
I give up

hi all, new to this site but saw the discusion at top of page and had to write cos i so sympathise with u, i had my son six months ago, he was due on 12th dec and was finally born 30th dec!!hang in there enjoy the extra bit of rest and it is so worth it in the end , good luck all x

sweetkitty · 11/07/2008 16:43

F&Z - I am giving up on sex as well, all it's doing is giving me horrendous BHs and getting my hopes up.

I had pains until 1am this morning then again from 5.45am until I went to sleep in the afternoon everything has stopped now. I am doing nothing tonight but resting. Even looked at the Clary Sage in H&B today but not spending £8.50 on it as a) I hate the smell and b) don't think it works. Desperation has definitely kicked in.

Favourite MW that I know is only on call until tomorrow morning so am having mixed feelings about going into labour this weekend.

MamaG · 11/07/2008 16:50

I think the whole "sex will bring on labour" was started by men

ButterflyMcQueen · 11/07/2008 17:04

shitting self now following sweep

on the way out of school 1 hour post sweep felt a gush and it was blood (dripping) and a huge clot

dp said the clot was the membranes vom and yuk and now totally shitting self

sorry for coarseness but i am

FrannyandZooey · 11/07/2008 17:48

oh blood and a clot sounds good
hope you are ok Butterfly

this sex bollocks can't possibly have been made up by men
the look in dp's eyes when I ask him if he'll oblige
nobody wants to insert a delicate part of their anatomy into a vast, grumpy, erratic, hormonal creature with stretchmarks up to their ears, surely?

min912 · 11/07/2008 18:53

Frankly I'm not sure which would be preferable at the moment if I suggest sex to DH - that he says yes or if he turns me down. Neither seems like my idea of fun at the moment!!

Anyone else feeling kind of angry?? I can't work out who with though - myself, DH, the world, the baby, the situation, other people who are actually having their babies. But I'm very annoyed!!

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 11/07/2008 19:00

F&z - never heard the saying "any hole's a goal"?

I have heard a couple of my friends say this. I usually clip them round their ears when they say it.

ButterflyMcQueen · 11/07/2008 19:05
