Starting a new thread and hope it will fill up in the next few weeks

I am a bit nervous starting this group as I am still SO early, only just testing positive this morning at 9DPO, ive taken 3 tests just to be sure. Hoping for a sticky bean, I am not a stranger to chemical pregnancies so really keeping everything crossed, its so nerve wracking!

I've gone off 'conception date' rather than LMP as I ovulate late, and for me, its more accurate - this brings me to due date 1st August 2026.

If others would like, I can start a Facebook group, maybe in a few weeks, I found the group sooo useful with my first little one! Let me know πŸ₯°

How is everyone? Any symptoms yet?

@AJ1994Congratulations! I had faint positives for quite a few days and only got my much darker positives (test line as dark/darker than the control line) after I'd missed my period. I was convinced I was having a chemical before that to be honest! That was over two weeks ago now and all is good 😊

Normally in most areas now you don't tell your GP, you just self-refer. If you search online for 'midwife referral nhs' it should come up and you just follow the instructions. All very different than it used to be! I was contacted after about a week and I have my booking appointment in 2 weeks now. I waited until after my missed period, just to be sure.

If you search for pregnancy scanning places in your area, you'll find one that do early scans. There are lots around. I've booked one due to a past history of miscarriage and it is Β£55. You'll likely need to wait until at least 7 weeks for a private early scan. 9 weeks is a good time to see a little jelly bean baby, before that and it's just a little blob!

AJ1994 · 02/12/2025 17:50

Thank you @BunnyWilliams- that is so reassuring and helpful! πŸ™πŸΌ I will wait another couple of days and then go through the referral process.

And I’ll definitely book an early scan. Thank you so much for taking the time to help me, and for sharing your experience with me, I’m really sorry that you’ve had to go through that ❀️

LoveYouHoneybear · 02/12/2025 17:55

Welcome to all the new joiners! Hope we all have sticky ones 🀞Happy to report that my lines are progressing. No more testing for me. I’m not even 4 weeks today! If everything goes well, i have a feeling this is going to be the longest pregnancy ever πŸ˜‚

Question: is anyone else on Sertraline? I took it in my previous pregnancy but I am thinking of lowering my dose. Currently on 100mg. Of course I will speak to GP, just wondering if anyone else is taking it?

BabyW26 · 02/12/2025 17:59

Hey gals, brand new to this pregnancy stuff and all the lingo. In fact I’m brand new to the Mumsnet app too. Can you girls help me out with what the pregnancy lingo and abbreviations meanπŸ™ˆ? β€˜Sticky’ baby sounds mental to me πŸ˜‚
also congrats to all you mothers to be, I’m super excited to join this journey with yous. I’m 5+5 today and got my early reassurance scan on Sunday πŸ₯Ή

wandatotherescue · 02/12/2025 18:15

Welcome @AJ1994🫢🏼 I’m 1 day behind you I think and also my first! You perfectly expressed how I’m feeling, doesn’t feel real at all, I’m cautious about getting excited yet. Thanks @BunnyWilliamsyour answers were so helpful. I wish time would go quicker, I have 2 days until I can properly say I’ve missed my period. @BabyW26I’m the same with the lingo haha, I’ve been googling every new abbreviation! TTC: Trying to Conceive
2WW: Two-Week Wait (the period after ovulation before a pregnancy test can be taken)
AF: Aunt Flo (a period)
BFP: Big Fat Positive (a positive pregnancy test)
BFN: Big Fat Negative (a negative pregnancy test)
DPO: days since ovulation

AJ1994 · 02/12/2025 18:26

Congratulations and thanks @wandatotherescue❀️
It does feel like it’s going so slow 🫠 and I’ve been testing every day, I can’t help it, I just need some reassurance that I’m not delusional but I want my tests to stop being so shy. I’m two days from my period due date too, I hope we both get strong lines then!
@BabyW26congrats! Im also new to mumsnet and there’s so many abbreviations πŸ˜‚ so much to learn

bigbaggyblue · 02/12/2025 19:56

@BabyW26ive always taken β€œsticky” as a pregnancy that sticks 😁 that embeds where it needs to and grows into a healthy baby 😁

mummatara · 02/12/2025 20:32

@AJ1994what kind of tests are you using? Some of the strip tests take ages to get a darker line on and they look like they stay faint for ages. Also if you look on groupon sometimes window to the womb have deals for early scans on there

welcome to all the new ladies and first time Mumma’s ❀️

AJ1994 · 02/12/2025 17:29

Hi everyone! Congratulations❀️

I’m 14 DPO, and apparently 4+0 today based on my tracker. I’ve been testing positive for the last 3 days, but all faint - and it’s driving me crazy!! Is that normal? I know it’s early, and my period wouldn’t be due for another couple of days usually, but no matter what I tell myself I can’t chill. This is my first pregnancy.
I’ve got endometriosis and was told from a young age that this probably wasn’t possible so I’m so amazed, and proud of my body but also so scared this isn’t real!

My due date is 11 August (which feels so crazy to say πŸ₯Ή). Only my husband knows, we cried, laughed and freaked out a lot the last couple of days. And now he’s so so happy and I’m just an anxious mess that I’m going to mess this up somehow.

Ive had sore boobs for three days, coming and going. And I’ve had light cramps today. No spotting so far.

How do you book an early scan? Is it too early for me to tell the doctors, do I need to wait for my missed period?

Congratulations on your pregnancy, even if the lines are faint, you are pregnant until proven otherwise. πŸ’š
I would like to reassure you about the cramps, when I was pregnant with my first born that was my first pregnancy and I did not know what to expect, I had light cramps in the beginning and I was worried about them but turned out it's normal.
You can have them in the front, in the back, on one side, on both sides, they can be just one tinge and they can come and go.

In terms of early scans, if you book a scan too early and if the technician who carries out the scan is maybe not very experienced or the machinery is older, they might tell you they can't see anything to say for sure, wether there's a heartbeat and ask you to come at a later time and offer a second session in a few weeks at their expense.
From what I have seen the best time for a first/early scan is from 6 weeks onwards.
Last time when I had my first scan I was 6+1 and they could see a heartbeat.

I know it's difficult to not worry as it's so natural for us to be keep experiencing stress around the status of the pregnancy. I too am constantly thinking at the back of my head and hoping it's healthy and proceeds well.

JennyTig · 02/12/2025 22:01

Welcome everyone who arrived in the last couple of days! Nausea has been kicking my butt so I've been struggling through the day-to-day. Started Saturday and today was definitely the worst (just got to 6 weeks).

The nausea was SO bad with my first from 6 weeks and peaking around 8/9 weeks. It seems funny that a few days ago I was wondering where this symptom was and then bam πŸ˜‚

Good to have you all here, and sure I'll be chatting here more during those few days here and there that the nausea eases off :)

Sunnycrispwinterrobin · 03/12/2025 10:12

How is everyone feeling?

Find myself worrying a bit that I dont really have that many symptoms, but I can't for the life of me remember when it started in my last pregnancy, I was sooooo sick until 21w bleh!

I actually keep telling myself am I imagining this or is it actually happening?

I do feel tired, but my little girl keeps waking me up in the night so he's to know whether its just that or pregnancy relayed!

Thank you so much @Xur- that is really reassuring. I’m going to keep telling myself I am pregnant until proven otherwise ❀️ I tested again today and it was a darker line, I also did a different brand and it was as dark as the control line so I’m feeling more comfortable with that! Just hoping clearer symptoms come, sometimes I think I’m imagining it!

Thats really helpful to know about the early scan too, we are definitely going to book one.

How are you feeling?

I have been using Sainsbury’s own ones, but moved to clear blue today, using both. The Sainsbury’s one was darker today and the clear blue was as dark as the control line and appeared immediately so feeling much better about that. Hoping the same for the next couple of days until I’m past my period date!

Thanks for the tip for the early scans!

How are you feeling today?

underthethree · 03/12/2025 11:33

@Sunnycrispwinterrobin no symptoms here! 🫣 I maybe feel a little more tired at times, but that’s it so far! 🫣 I can’t quite remember when I started feeling like shit last time πŸ˜‚ but it was probably around 5-6weeks, so I have maybe another week before I start feeling like shit I suppose πŸ˜‚ trying to enjoy feeling healthy at the moment πŸ˜…

time is passing so slowly right now 🫣

Couldnt agree with you anymore how slowly the time is going.

We go away for a week next week so hoping that my symptoms behave, but because of the lack of symptoms im kind of trying to dampen my excitement worried nothing is happening in there, but I feel better others are in the same boat with a lack of symptoms

We will be kicking ourselves soon wont we? Its the phrase 'be careful what you wish for!'

OP posts:
underthethree · 03/12/2025 12:27

@Sunnycrispwinterrobin Yes definitely! Careful what we wish for! I definitely have some anxiety around not feeling any symptoms as I’m sure I had sensitive boobs from the get go last time! It’s literally how I knew I was pregnant before even taking a test! So the lack of symptoms now has definitely been playing on my mind.

i had my Hcg levels checked as recently as 2 days ago and they are rising really well. So I keep telling myself there’s nothing more I can do or track now, and I just have to wait til the 7 week scan to see how it’s going in there πŸ‘€

Jojo1203 · 03/12/2025 19:09

Hey, so an update on my β€˜still in limbo’ situation..
I had my scan at EPU today & they found a sac, but nothing inside - either it’s too early or will continue to be empty.
According to LMP I should be just 6 weeks, but i could’ve ovulated/implanted later than the usual. So I’m holding onto a little glimmer of hope that is may just be too early..
in my other 2 pregnancies they always measured a 3/4 days behind the expected, so it could be possible that I’m only 5+4 and therefore not visible yet.
I did have a heavy bleed last week, so assumed a MC, but they found that was a bleed from a Sub Hematoma, so not related to the embryo/sac - so that’s promising in a sense🀞🏼
I now have a scan booked for 17/12 to confirm what is happening.. it’s going to be the longest 2 weeks! (I’m just going to think of it as another TWW)πŸ˜…
anyone else had similar experiences?
I’ve searched and it’s literally 50/50 of which way this could go, so not holding onto too much hope, just so I don’t get too disheartened x

BunnyWilliams · 03/12/2025 19:48

@Jojo1203 Yes, I had almost this exact situation in my last pregnancy. A bleed (or several) that was a subchorionic hematoma and there was nothing other than a yolk sac on my first scan when I was around 6 weeks. I also probably ovulated about a week later than I had thought. I had to wait a week for a rescan and when we went back there was a faint flicker of a heartbeat. She's now 3 and very healthy, so it has a very happy ending! I hope it's the same for you.

Jojo1203 · 03/12/2025 20:24

@BunnyWilliamsoh wow, really!? That is really reassuring to hear, thankyou:)
I’m so glad it turned out positive for you aswell! Fingers crossed🀞🏼

mummatara · 03/12/2025 21:30

@Jojo1203ahhh sorry to hear you’re in limbo. I have been there many times before it really sucks. I have had an empty sac at 6 weeks which turned out to be a blighted ovum. I did a lot of googling and like you say it really is a case of 50/50. I’ve got everything crossed that it’s just too early to see anything 🀞🏼 it sometimes amazes me that they see nothing then all of a sudden 2 weeks later there is a whole baby wiggling about. I have a scan at the EPU at 6+2 I would rather they had put me in closer to 7 weeks because earlier in 6 really can just be anyone’s guess what’s going on in there but they didn’t have space πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

Jojo1203 · 03/12/2025 21:47

@mummataraaww that’s a shame, yeh I’ve also had a blighted ovum back in 2023 - which I didn’t realise until I mc naturally at 11 wks. So I know that’s a possibility in the back on my mind..
& aww I hope all goes well for you!🀞🏼 I know what you mean though, although we’re so eager to see it sooner, it’s not always best to get a scan so early on & then be left in more confusion because it’s not always clear at 6 weeks.. hopefully you get some good news!

Xur · 03/12/2025 22:29

@AJ1994
thank you for asking! I have been nauseous last couple of days, except for today, today I was the least nauseous!
My first positive was last Saturday when it showed 1-2 weeks, with that in mind I decided to retest today to see if it show 2-3 weeks as I looked at the calendar and yesterday it should have passed 2 weeks since what I think was implantation day and the test did in fact say 2-3 weeks now. Obviously there’s a very wide spectrum of HCG count for that 2-3 week mark, but I’ll take it.

@Jojo1203 oh crickey these two weeks will draaaaag! I shall cross my fingers for a little potato to be there in that sac! 🀞

I’m going to book a private scan for the 19th of Dec, we are going away from the 21st to see my in-laws for Christmas and I would like to have that certainty before and all being well I will put a scan picture in their Christmas card.

Giraffemug30 · 04/12/2025 12:02

I still don't have any major symptoms either

I've had some slight sore boobs, and I did feel sick yesterday but I don't know if that was related! Also I've been getting some light cramps or more like a stretching sensation, which I hope is normal

I feel like I don't even know what my body normally feels like anymore, I'm so on edge for symptoms. I think I'm going to join you all and get an early scan just before Xmas, so I can be more comfortable telling family/put my mind at rest a bit. Time is going so slowly!

BunnyWilliams · 05/12/2025 11:58

I'm really really struggling with anxiety at the moment. I get terrible health anxiety anyway and I catastrophise things. I've been looking up molar pregnancies and blighted ovums because I'm convinced something is going to go wrong.

I stopped myself from testing after I got a dye stealer because I felt it wasn't good for my mental health, however that was almost 2 weeks ago and the lack of testing for reassurance is really getting to me. It seems like I can't win!

We've got an early scan booked for the 20th when I'll be 8+3 but that feels like an eternity away.

I have a lot of symptoms (tiredness, sore boobs, food aversions, constantly freezing cold, headaches) but I'm not being sick which is really throwing me. I do feel mildly nauseous throughout the day and pretty strongly queasy in the morning and evening but it's nothing like I've had before in my previous3 successful pregnancies, which was (undiagnosed) HG and vomiting up to 20 times a day and not being able to even keep water down. The fact that I don't feel this is really making me so incredibly nervous. 😒😒😒
