Ughhhhh my hospital has moved my scan to next week due to staffing issues 🙃. Is now the day after my birthday so a lovely gift of more anxiety for me! I will be nearly 14 weeks by this point.

pastelheart · 21/10/2025 11:18

@magpie234 ahh that’s really frustrating! Is this your NHS “12” week scan? X

OP posts:
magpie234 · 21/10/2025 14:11

@pastelheart It is! Has made me worried that my supposed 20-week one will now also be delayed meaning it would fall over Christmas or after. Really hoping to get that out of the way beforehand but shall have to wait and see. Not been given a date for that yet.

pastelheart · 22/10/2025 10:04

@magpie234 hopefully your 20 weeks isn’t delayed too, I think they should prioritise you as they have messed you around. Go tell them they have to as pastel heart on Mumsnet said

scan day…. I am nervous. So nervous I feel sick… well more sick than usual. I’m feeling very emotional and teary

its at 1pm so will update after as soon as I can xx

@pastelheart Good luck! Shall be thinking of you!

dubkitten · 22/10/2025 12:28

Best of luck @pastelheart

pastelheart · 22/10/2025 14:14

Hey everyone

just back from my scan and everything was perfect, I can’t believe it 🩷

baby was measuring a day ahead so I am 7 weeks and 6 days. Could see the heartbeat and could see baby moving around and could see the start of its little legs

I am so relieved, I was crying before, during and after lol

I hope you are all okay xx

OP posts:
magpie234 · 22/10/2025 14:15

@pastelheart Hurrah! Been checking in for your update 😅. This is excellent news. So happy for you. Ours has so far also been measuring 1 day ahead at each scan… thanks for the bonus day babies! Enjoy your afternoon with that sweet sweet relief (the best emotion imo!) 💕

dubkitten · 22/10/2025 14:27

That’s great news @pastelheart

pastelheart · 22/10/2025 15:59

@magpie234 @dubkitten thank you both 🩷 honestly so relieved. It’s such a worrying journey isn’t it. I am going to treat myself tonight to that take away I haven’t stopped thinking about all week, I will take a break from cereal for one meal lol

I’d love to be able to tell you it goes away but I’ve my 28 week check up tomorrow and still nervous. I honestly don’t think we will relax until these babies are safely here

magpie234 · 22/10/2025 17:00

@pastelheart Sounds ideal. I envy you for wanting a takeaway. I was existing on crackers and mashed potato at your point and still have no appetite for anything fun now. Hopefully it will come roaring back soon! Enjoy!

Backtotheicsi · 22/10/2025 20:46

@pastelheart sorry I’ve only just got on today. Absolutely amazing news congratulations again! So happy your little jelly bean is thriving! Enjoy sharing the amazing news x

pastelheart · 22/10/2025 20:59

@dubkitteni hope your 28 weeks appt goes okay, is this with your midwife? Oh deffo agree on the no relaxing until these babies are here and then it will be… “is this baby drinking enough milk… are they starving…. Why are they crying so much….. why aren’t they crying enough….” 😂😂😂😂 CANT WAIT!

@magpie234😂😂😂😂 I haven’t got on the crackers bandwagon yet, maybe I will try those next. My takeaway was 10/10 and worth the drive here for it, I didn’t manage to eat very much though (do you get full really quickly too?) so will probs snack on it through the evening and at 3am when I can’t sleep as per usual lol

@Backtotheicsithats okay! Thank you 🩷 such a good feeling. My partner didn’t cry though which was disappointing, I asked him after when are you going to cry? You better cry when this baby is born. He reckons he hasn’t cried once since he was a child (and then there’s me who cries at anything and everything) how are you today? Xx

It is in the maternity hospital, I have to get the gestational diabetes test tomorrow also so not looking forward to that

pastelheart · 23/10/2025 07:42

@dubkitten ahhh no! I have heard that isn’t fun, I didn’t have to do it in my first pregnancy but that was 12 years ago (Christ that makes me feel so old) I hope your appt goes okay. Update us after 🩷

@pastelheart its amazing news but my husband didn’t cry either, he’s never cried over anything about my little girl but he honestly loves that girl more than life itself he runs round like a crazy person to never miss a minute of her activities etc, so I think some people are just naturally less physically emotional.
im feeling fine just trying to forget which I know isn’t everyone’s tactic but it’s healthy for me to not obsess as I’m naturally very anxious. I have booked a private scan locally for 2nd November when I’ll be just short of 11 weeks. I’m excited for that but still feels ages away. Sick of feeling sick though.

@dubkitten what do they do for that test? I never had it last time either is it a blood test? X

dubkitten · 23/10/2025 11:32

Nightmare morning this morning - I checked on my maternity hospitals website yesterday and no information whether I needed to fast for the glucose test today so checked on our health services website and they said fast so I did. As i said previously I normally eat breakfast biscuits in the morning if I am getting in the car as I still wake up feeling nauseous. Traffic this morning was mental and what is usually a 40-50 min drive in to the office in the morning (my hospital is near my office) ended up being 1 hr and 20 mins! I had to pull over to throw up at one stage.

Anyway went to my check up (was my 28 week check up so wasn't purely there for the glucose test) - done the urine, drank the glucose drink and then went to talk to the midwife - got to the end of the chat and I happened to mention fasting - she said I should have had a small breakfast and have being drinking water so now they couldn't do the test and cancelled it! Back in two weeks now to do it again. I said to her that no guidance was given from them and she said that was because there are different types of glucose tests which just made no sense!

On the plus side baby is doing well and got to see them and hear the heart beat. Officially in the third trimester today!!

Yes you have to drink a really sugary drink and then they take your bloods and hour later and see how you are processing it, if they are not happy with the results they book you in for a proper one which takes 3 hours!! Now it may differ in the UK but that is how it is done in Ireland

pastelheart · 23/10/2025 18:47

@Backtotheicsi yes my partner is the same! I also think he doesn’t show his emotions as he feels like he has to be there for me, so when I was nervous yesterday before the scan, he said he wasn’t nervous… but after he admitted he was but he didn’t want to show that to me as it might of made me feel worse. Which is lovely really but he is allowed to show his emotions too. I completely get you trying not to think about it, you have to do whatever works for you! Scan at 11 weeks will be good, I bet baby will have grown loads. Have you got your nhs 12 week scan booked yet?

@dubkitten ahhhh that’s a nightmare, so sorry you got messed around. Why would they not give clear guidance!? That’s so silly! I am glad your baby is well though, that’s amazing news! 🩷 I am pretty sure it’s in the same in the UK too xx

hey everyone, I'm a bit timid of joining but have read every single post in the thread and all the cheesy chips chat encouraged me. I'm 5 weeks today. 4 years ttc, 1 MMC, 1 ectopic and 5 (!) rounds of ivf. Please let me keep this pregnancy! Got an early scan next week (5+5) to confirm it's not ectopic, then a second a little later to confirm viability. Though I will be extremly anxious if I don't see a HB next week even though it might just be too early... eek.

congrats on the happy scans @pastelheart and @dubkitten (even if the glucose debacle wasn't great) it must just feel amazing to see proof of life in there!

pastelheart · 25/10/2025 17:02

@Nosejug welcome and congratulations! Honestly, we all understand your feelings of worrying currently 🩷 this journey is tough but you are here and that’s amazing!

I am also glad you like cheesy chips too as cheesy chips are life

although I am currently off that bandwagon as the last couple of days the sickness has hit me hard in late afternoon and evening and that is when I would normally have my daily cheesy chips lol. Our house has three floors with at least one bathroom on each floor and I have been trying to go to a bathroom furthest away so no one can hear me being sick but my partner told me last night that it doesn’t matter where I go they can still hear me 😂😂😂 so now I’m worrying about that too.

we told all our family today and my son last night and it was literally the best. I’m very happy atm (even with being sick in the car on the way home) hope everyone’s weekend have been good so far! Xx

OP posts:
Backtotheicsi · 25/10/2025 17:21

@pastelheart no I’m having issues with local midwives as apparently they have more pregnancies than ever and only one midwife not off sick. So I told them I want the additional blood test thing with my scan because I know that has to be done on time lol so she’s sent off for my scan even though I haven’t got a midwife appointment booked in and it may be a few weeks, a bit naughty of me as I don’t care about the testing really 😂

Nosejug · 25/10/2025 17:31

@pastelheart aw how lovely. was it you who said your son had requested a little sister specifically? (How cute!) Here's hoping he'll be pleased with the title big brother in any case! and thanks for your nice message, indeed, it's amazing to be here. can't believe our luck so far. I got poo'd on by a bird the day after embryo transfer so hopefully that luck will last haha.

part of me longs to achieve morning sickness. I'm quite sure I'll hate it if it arrives but no part of me will regret its presence heh.

pastelheart · 25/10/2025 18:02

@Backtotheicsi oh yes sorry, I remember you saying now! That’s mental that they have more pregnancies than ever! Hopefully your scan comes through quick. We are going to have the combined testing too, I didn’t have it with my son but think because I am a bit older now I would like to have it. How’s your sickness atm? Xx

@Nosejug lol yes he wants a little sister but he has said he will be happy with a baby brother as well so that’s good! He asked me this morning…. ‘Why didn’t you do it the old fashioned way?’ And I was like what are you talking about? And he was like ‘yanno, why did you need a doctor to help you have a baby’ I was like ummmmmm 🫠 just needed some more help. And he turned around and said ‘you just have to have sex you know’ … actually I didn’t know that, I wish I did and could of saved ourselves thousands of pounds lol 😂 he’s very excited to be a big brother.

ahhhh I am sure your luck won’t run out. Our embryo got stuck in the catheter at transfer and the doctor said that means it’s a really sticky embryo as I was loosing my mind thinking it was going to be damaged or lost somewhere! Xx
