How are you doing today @Moosey898 ? Sorry to hear you've had a rough time of it. Hopefully some reassurance coming with your scan on Weds

Time is moving soooo slowly for me. 20 week scan is a week Friday. I'm due end of Jan so really hoping I don't have a Christmas baby. We're hosting for the first time this year and I'm so excited! There will only be 6 of us all adults and I'm hoping my mum will help with the cooking 😅
I have done no baby prep or even thinking about baby stuff but I have bought a maternity novelty Christmas jumper on Vinted. Got my priorities in order 😬

Same re time moving slowly, I feel like I’ve been pregnant for ever.

I usually love Christmas, mainly for the cheese and charcuterie boards which will obviously be off the menu, but by 32 weeks last time indulging was always met with severe heartburn so I’m probably not going to have a luxury Christmas this year. Or I’ll just drink gaviscon rather than baileys over ice 😂😂

Also hosting Christmas in our new house, however the grannies will be doing 80% of the cooking.

@WildFinch honestly I'm a total mess. Van barely focus on work, just want to cry all the time. I'm already under the care of the perinatal mental health team, going to ask for additional support too as I'm just not coping.

Do you have to work? Could you take leave for a few days?

Jadeypie · 26/08/2025 10:51

@Moosey898 i agree. It sounds like you need some time off work. Are there any antenatal clubs you could maybe attend? You will meet other mums to be and could talk about your worries in person. I know you've got us, but maybe going to something like that could help xx

Jadeypie · 26/08/2025 10:54

I normally host xmas for our parents but not this year, couldnt think of anything worse sweating in the kitchen resembling the Turkey hahaha. So im being a lady of leisure. Also I live for the cheese bored too and all the xmas goodies. Bailey's will be replaced with gaviscon!! Xxx

Sunshinemoom · 26/08/2025 11:08

Had my 20 week scan this morning, got to go back next week baby wasn’t playing ball so couldn’t get all the measurements but managed to get this lovely side profile of him. They confirm still definitely a boy 💙

I normally host as well. Told everyone this year I’m not. I really want to just stay home with my OH, son and step son as be our last Christmas as 4 before baby comes along. Then we can just have lazy day in our pjs!

Also, I'm 17w+5 and have had noticeable cramps today. Low down like mild period pain. Reckon it's probably normal, anyone else?

I would say totally normal I’ve had the same at points. Just keep eye on it x

Moosey898 · 26/08/2025 11:29

@Jadeypie @dubkitten unfortunately really do need to work - I'm still in my probation period and have so much to get in order in the next few months... It's not ideal, but I can't afford to lose the job either.

@Moosey898 sorry to hear you seem to be having a tough time of it. I would see if there any support groups in your area where you can meet up with people in person. Sending big hugs xx

Aw his little nose 🥹 I love seeing these little side profiles at 20 weeks and the bonus is you’ll get to see him again next week 😊

WanderWalker · 26/08/2025 11:53

I love how you all want to hold these babies in over Christmas 🤣 I don’t blame you! I won’t be hosting this year it’s looking like my C-section will be 22nd December 🙃 I am freaking out praying it all goes smoothly so I can be home for Christmas. I am also sending out lots of hints to family about someone dropping us all a Christmas dinner off 🤣

Just got a call saying I’m due to be scanned by a consultant on Thursday to review my placenta placement. Trying my best not to freak out as I was told I had an anterior placenta but nothing else was mentioned about it.

At least it’s a chance to see baby again I guess… (trying to find silver lining!)

They might just be checking to see how far from your cervix it is. They also can move too . I get how nervous it can be though!! I have to keep getting my cervix measured and I always worry just incase its gone short again xx

@WildFinch I had this at 18 weeks and rang for advice and they weren't concerned ❤️ mine was also like vv mild period cramps low down and they said as long as it isnt severe and there isnt bleeding not to worry and take paracetamol if needed. I didn't actually need pain relief as it wasnt too bad, seems to have eased off this week so think it was just stretching xx

TigerLily38 · 26/08/2025 16:53

Love seeing everyone's 20w scans! 😍 I'm 19w now and my 20w scan isnt until a week on Monday, I'll be around 21w then - was really hoping it would be next week instead as we're just so excited 🤣

Christmas wise we are hosting for the first time this year (we must be crazy!!!!!!) as we have family visiting, hoping they will lend us a hand since I'll be resembling Mr Claus himself by then🤣

Could I ask how often people have seen community midwives if at all yet? Ive was seen back at 15w but somehow been missed off the system apparently, so not set up with the community midwives. Spent all day trying to sort today, got a call tomorrow to try and get everything sorted but hope I havent missed anything xx

I’ve only seen them twice. One for my booking appointment and then again at 16 weeks. I don’t see them now until October. I’m in Yorkshire, so not sure if it’s different depending on your area. I feel like the care is no existent to be honest 😓

I saw mine at the booking appointment and then again at 16 weeks. Next appointment is in the diary for mid October when I’ll be 28 weeks. Like @WanderWalker I’m in Yorkshire… though I have a few consultant appointments booked in with consultants between now and then so don’t feel as abandoned care wise as I otherwise could.

WildFinch · 26/08/2025 17:31

Thanks for replying @Sunshinemoom and @TigerLily38 the cramps have eased off over the day so I think it's probably normal. Just too much anxiety in my head today. I've not taken painkillers as it wasn't too bad. My periods are normally so painful!
