@Thegirlhasnamechanged same, I have a load of potential girls names, though I’ve taken some off the list today after the 2024 baby names came out. I was one of 3 of the same name in my class in primary school 🙈 my name is so painfully 90s 😂

I’m really struggling with boy names. We have late FIL as a middle name which is old fashioned but not likely to have a revival (think Gary, Richard, Paul) and DH likes quite ‘old man’ names which are having their moment like Albert (Albie) or Alfred but I’m not so keen.. but then I can’t find any I like to counteract his choices 😂

Also DH sister and another relative are pregnant with boys due 2 months and a month before us so if ours is a boy we will have to wait and see what they come up with!

We will hopefully find out Tuesday 🤞🏼

RealTealQueen · 31/07/2025 23:19

I have a list of eight girls’ names and four boys’ names. My husband vetoed a couple which don’t go quite right with our surname but that still leaves plenty. I probably won’t settle on one till we meet baby though! I feel like you have to look at them and decide whether it suits them. X

Moosey898 · 01/08/2025 14:45

We've got a girl's name in mind - zero idea on boys names so if it ends up being a boy there's a good chance they won't have a name for the first few days of their life 😂

Has anyone got sciatica? Any hints and tips on how to manage when pregnant- I got this post partum for a bit but eased quickly. It hit me today trying to walk down to the local cafe for breakfast, luckily we weren’t too far from home so partner was able to go back and grab the car! Not ideal to have it cause issues this early on 🙈

It’s grim isn’t it, it’s the fact that it just springs on you with no notice! Going to start pregnancy yoga next week, hopefully that will give me some stretches that ease it!

it must be a second/third pregnancy thing where your body just knows what’s coming so everything comes on much sooner!

Sunshinemoom · 02/08/2025 13:13

I have the worse luck after weeks fancying a Chinese me and my partner had one Thursday night ended up with food poisoning each never been so ill 😭 thankfully only a 24 hour thing!! Put me off ever having one again

WanderWalker · 02/08/2025 17:25

@Nynm23 I’m suffering with this off and on already too. I also didn’t get it until 3rd trimester previously so putting it down to me being older this time around 😣

I don’t have any great tips either sorry. Apart from rolling your bum cheek/top of leg on a tennis ball to loosen it. Pregnancy yoga sounds like it would prob help though

dubkitten · 03/08/2025 18:03

Went out last night and had some 0.00 beer and my head feels like I’m hungover 😂😂

On the plus side my nausea has eased so I’ve finally be able to eat!

Moosey898 · 03/08/2025 19:11

@dubkitten glad you're able to at least eat something now! Hopefully that's the nausea going away for good..

@dubkitten I feel like hungover is the way I'd describe how I felt thought the first trimester 😂 glad your nausea is easing, I think mine is too. Hooray!

BunMum26 · 05/08/2025 09:02

I’m 16+4 today, and despite me feeling 100 times better in the second trimester, I’m really struggling to sleep, most nights I’d say I’m getting 3hours or less. I need what feels like 87 wees, I can’t get comfortable, I’m hot, I’m cold, it’s just so frustrating. I’m then waking up with a horrendous headache and having to take paracetamol every morning, which I don’t want to do but can’t function without it. Anyone else like this?

on the back of the childcare chat, I have reached out to a childminder who has a space from September, but can’t hold the place for me for when I go back to work, which will hopefully be end of October/beginning of November. I understand why, she can only take 3/4 little ones so losing at least a quarter of her income for 2 months is a lot for her. I’ve reached out to a local nursery who have closed their waiting list for the rest of this year. She advised they do have some spaces for September onwards of next year, however advised I get booked on to the waitlist before the end of this year as places are filling up quickly.

because of the job I do, I’m feeling extremely anxious about the childcare situation. I’m trying not to think about it as it’s over a year away but it’s really not helping the sleepless nights 😅

Moosey898 · 05/08/2025 11:53

@BunMum26 I'm the same - up god knows how many times a night! What's worse (in my mind) is i don't even have a bump so why on earth do I have such pressure making me feel like I need to pee all the time!!

My midwife is amazing - with my history and anxiety she has offered to do extra Doppler checks for me, so she's coming end of this week as I want to tell my boss next week (I'm flying to Germany for work, where my boss is based, so wanted to have the conversation face to face) and I was so anxious that there wouldn't be a heartbeat when I get back. At least this way I will know the status as close as I can to when I fly. I'm very lucky, the whole team in my area seems brilliant, although I'm still waiting for my consultant appointment to be rearranged after it was cancelled due to the strikes!

@BunMum26 Im getting uncomfortable of night now, I think the pregnancy pillow is a must ha. Its only going to get worse too. In my last pregnancy the third trimester I ended up having to sleep in a chair. But all worth it in the end xx

WanderWalker · 05/08/2025 16:44

@BunMum26 I’m getting very little sleep too. Feeling uncomfortable and up and down for a wee most nights. I’ve started with a cold too now so super congested. Feels pointless even going to bed at the min. I do agree with the pregnancy pillow though it does help.

I feel like I’m already struggling. I do have a bump now, but worry how I’m going to cope in the 3rd tri. I’ve been out shopping today and had to keep sitting down which is really unlike me. Is anyone else feeling like they are suddenly extremely unfit? 😣

BunMum26 · 05/08/2025 16:52

@Moosey898@WanderWalker @JadeypieIm glad I'm not the only one, I thought I was being dramatic feeling like this so early on so it’s nice to see I’m not the only one struggling with sleep. I’ve got a pregnancy pillow which is making me at least a little more comfortable but it’s so big I’m struggling to roll over without getting all tangled up and then I’m waking my partner and we’re both losing out on sleep. also feeling unfit, I went for a walk with my friend and was getting out of breath when I was talking and walking, had to slow down!

@Moosey898your midwife sounds great, I’m on my third one already, my 16 week appointment was cancelled and moved to this week, when I said I’m going on holiday so might not be able to make it I got told the next available appointment would be when I’m 19 weeks. I get no response when I message my named midwife and if I ring the community midwife number it rings out! As it stands right now I don’t even know the name of my current midwife!

Sunshinemoom · 05/08/2025 19:09

@BunMum26 I feel the same barely sleeping even when I’m really tired. Means I’m forever taking naps through the day which is making the situation worse at night

Moosey898 · 05/08/2025 19:15

@BunMum26 oh blimey! I hope they get your midwife situation sorted out, that must be a bit frustrating.

My midwife recognised me as we actually used to go to gym classes at the same place 😅 We're spoilt really, the group of GPs I'm registered with get home visits too from the midwife, makes everything so much easier to organise.

My blood test at my booking appointment showed I was Rheus negative so needed to have another test to see if the baby was negative or positive. Had that blood test on 17th of last month and the hospital just called to say it was inconclusive so I’ve to go have another one next week 🙄

Thegirlhasnamechanged · 05/08/2025 20:11

@dubkitten I’m starting to feel like that is the way my test is going given I had the blood drawn on the 23 July and not had a result put on the app yet. I’m planning on having my tubes tied during my section so shouldn’t make much of a difference with the results but anything to avoid how the anti-D jab I had during my second pregnancy which I remember stinging like mad!

Moosey898 · 05/08/2025 20:15

I must be lucky in not finding the anti d so bad! I've had it after my miscarriage surgeries, so 4 times. The only strange thing is twice was in my legs, twice in my butt. 😂

OP posts:
dubkitten · 05/08/2025 21:57

I’m not too worried about the injections themselves as I’m use to them at this stage but I would just rather know either way

Interesting, I’m rhesus negative but they don’t test the baby here until post birth. I get an injection at 28 weeks and then again post birth x

Same, I don’t remember it being an issue. The blood thinners (I think that’s what they are) post c section are another story!

Confusedmermaid1 · 05/08/2025 22:43

Well I had a private scan today and baby is looking good which was such a relief and we also found out we are having a girl 💕
I was getting strong boy vibes and nub theory convinced me but we would have been happy with either to be honest! I’m going to wait for the NHS scan before I put too much stock into the gender because the sonographer took so long to find it (maybe because it’s a girl and I’m reading too much in to it 😂) that he hasn’t filled me with confidence 😅

Also yes to feeling so unfit and out of breath! I didn’t think this would come until much later but I can’t walk up the hill in my street and talk because I’m gasping for air at the top otherwise 😅
