@dubkitten I'm the worst for this - planning on getting as far along as possible before buying anything! If I hadn't had so many losses before I reckon I'd have started after 24 weeks. Instead I've just asked friends and family to store anything and everything they have that we could take second hand and they're keeping hold of it for me in various garages and lofts so I don't have to have anything in the house 😂

@dubkitten The only thing I’ve bought so far is new clothes for me! Seems a bit early - things are bound to be on sale again at some point in the next 5 months. I don’t want to leave it too late though - a colleague told me her daughter came 7 weeks early!

I swear my sickness is getting worse. I’ve been sick twice in the last 24 hours. 😭

When are people planning on starting to buys things? Don’t want to buy too soon in case anything happens but don’t want to leave it too long and have to get everything at the same time

I have mainly brought clothes, and we have brought the pram as it was on offer and kept going out of stock but it’s stored at my mum house until baby is here. We thinking buying bits every month just to break up the cost of everything.

Jadeypie · 27/07/2025 17:05

I've bought three babygrows in the next sale haha. Ive already got the cot stored in our loft. My cousin has not long had a baby so shes got all kinds for us when we are ready. Probably ly buy pram prep machine ect in next couple of months. I like to be organised and especially If theirs a chance baby can come early i feel like I need to be extra organised xxx

I’ve no hand me downs so will need all new things and I am doing this alone. I am trying not to dip in to my savings for baby stuff as want to keep that for maternity leave as the more I can save the longer I can stay off.

My 12 year goddaughter lives with me so she is very excited especially for the shopping 😂😂 we were on holidays recently so she made me buy a few small bits of clothes but have held off buying anything big.

I don’t have a bump but am finding jeans really uncomfortable for some reason (I usually live in jeans) so I have bought a few pair of trouser with a stretchy waist

That’s what I was thinking but I think I will wait until I have my next scan at 21 weeks. I’m lucky that family have offered to buy some of the items so that will help me out

I hear ya on the worry that they might come early and we are no prepared. Also need to factor in that Christmas is the month before and I don’t want to be waddling around busy shops at that stage!

I've had some people holding on to stuff for me for years 🙈 it's been a long journey so far. I'm lucky they don't mind holding on to it for me!

And haha you're going to have to set her some rules or spending limits 😂 otherwise you'll end up with tons of cute stuff but no money left!

Oh I know! She went out to the local shopping centre with her friend today and came back with a little teddy for the baby 🥰

She is my best friends daughter and my friend and I were living together when she fell pregnant so my goddaughter has lived with me her whole life. We were worried how she would react to my baby news but she has been great and can’t wait for it to come

Good idea! I totally get waiting. We’ve been quite lucky and gifted a few bits like a cot so we have that already. But the rest we get over the next few months

WanderWalker · 27/07/2025 18:48

I’ve started to buy bits, a few baby grows, baby bath, room temp light, pink noise machine etc. Just stuff I’ve seen on offer. I want to be done quite early (I’m currently 18weeks) because I have two older children I want to get sorted for Christmas and don’t want to be heavily pregnant and stressed. I also know people who’s babies came earlier so a little anxious about not being prepared.

Has anyone got an idea on what pram they are getting? I’ve looked at sooo many and just can’t make my mind up. We are buying that last, but I’d like to have some sort of idea on which one. I need one that’s good in different terrain (I like to be outside and walk quite a bit) So anyone with any recommendations would be great 😊

you sound like me. Just buying stuff on offer. Or Vinted has been my bbf recently.

we went for the silver cross cove, tried it out in store and fell in love. We are the same love to be outside so needed a pushchair which can go on different terrain. Then we’ve gone for a Tula free to grow carrier for our wood walks, if we chose not to take the pushchair.

I am currently looking at this one but haven’t made up my mind fully yet:

I am a Christmas nut so always start in September - people usually always laugh. At least I’ve a proper reason now 😂

No it’s so much easier, and then have everything wrapped by November just one less thing to worry about and I can enjoy the Christmas period

Exactly! Best to have it done so we can enjoy the run up to Christmas

Moosey898 · 27/07/2025 19:57

@dubkitten Aw that's so lovely that you get along so well and she's looking forward to the baby. I was 9 when my sister was born (my brother was 11) and it was a brilliant age gap to be hands on and involved. I absolutely loved having a little baby sister, I was so proud! Sounds like she will feel the same.

This is my fav at the moment too. I love the silver cross cove and it’s nice and light when folded. We don’t know what we are having so I’ve looked at it in maple. What colour have you gone for?

WanderWalker · 27/07/2025 21:34

I’m the same re Christmas shopping. I’ve already asked my boys what they want. They looked at me like I was insane asking this early 🤣 I just want it done, so I can nest early and then relax!

Edited

Yes we are very closed as I’ve helped raise her so was worried she may get jealous as she wouldn’t be use to sharing me but so far all good

It’s very light when folded. You can fold it with the seat on as well which I liked. We went for the pewter colour. Like greeny grey colour we love it. We liked maple as well! If you have a John Lewis near you book one of there nursery appointments, to show you the pushchair. After the appointment you get 10% off or 20% off depending how much you spend with them.
