So it's a company I've freelanced for for 3 years, and they approached me and said they wanted me for the job. Hopefully that would be enough for them to want me to come back after maternity leave? And I'm not costing them anything except finding a mat leave cover for my role as I've not been there long enough for statutory maternity pay, let alone enhanced (which is a shame as they have a good policy!)

Well that sounds positive 😊 They might be fine about it then and like you say if it’s not costing them any money (which let’s be honest is mainly why companies get cross when being new to the job) you will probably be fine.

@Moosey898 its 25 weeks you have up to give notice of pregnancy. 15 weeks before your due date x

Yep end of that week - same week as my end of probation call....

Had my 16 week midwife appointment today and she mentioned that they don’t routinely give out MATB1’s until 28 weeks anymore but I could ask the GP for one before then if it could cause an issue with work (which it what I’ll end up doing I think as I don’t want any chance of messing up maternity pay… unless work have got better at that end of things since 2021!)

Just nosey to see if anybody else has been told similar from their midwife? I’m sure I got it shortly after the 20 week scan in previous pregnancies.

You can get it from 20weeks. I’ve had my 16 week appointment and don’t have my next midwife app till 28weeks, so I’m gathering that’s maybe why they say they don’t give it out until then now? I’m going to just contact my GP and get it from them, so work have it.

Oh that’s useful info I didn’t know. Thank you 😊 That’s good that your midwife seems to be giving you info too. I don’t see my midwife till 28 weeks now. Feels like I barely see them to ask any questions 😕

She was really helpful. Said if I had anymore questions just to message the duty line and they get back to me. After asking all the questions just say the one question I wanted an answer to and totally forgot to ask was about RSV vaccine 🙈

Jadeypie · 23/07/2025 06:51

Does it cause side effects? Xx

When I was taking it vaginally I had spotting and it’s so messy. I’ve found it much easier to manage since I switched. So much cleaner and my spotting stopped completely (though that could have been coincidence as the pessaries were never confirmed as the reason)

RealTealQueen · 24/07/2025 17:51

I hit 16 weeks today and I think I finally have a bump. My new clothes came and I’m sitting here looking at a very round belly! …could very well still just be bloat, mind! 🤣 My new maternity PJs are so comfy and non-wired bras are my new best friend. How’s everyone else doing?

peps2917 · 24/07/2025 18:26

So nice to read everyone’s updates!! I can see a TINY bump @RealTealQueen but I’m behind you at almost 14 weeks.

I agree with previous posts re food - I’m so much better now thank god but get waves of nausea here and there. I’m off to Catalonia next week to do a mini road trip of the region and really hoping tapas will go down well as I usually LOVE them!!! Tried on my bikini and it definitely looks different now. Body is generally more bloated etc.

Is anyone doing a private gender reveal scan? I have caved and we have decided to do one. So excited!! Although I’m still waiting for the chromosomal abnormalities blood test and I wish it would hurry up! Had it last Monday and still no letter…

I did private gender scan last Saturday at 15 weeks. Loved it. Was so nice to take my son and step son and they got to be part of it. I couldn’t have waited until 20 weeks scan. Hopefully get your results soon I got mine a week after the bloods were taken.

@peps2917 aww I had mine on Monday too and haven't told family yet as still waiting for the bloods to come back! Feels like such a long wait, feel like all stages of pregnancy are just a lesson in patience 🤣 hopefully we'll hear Monday 🤞🤞

Moosey898 · 25/07/2025 11:37

Don't think I have any sort of bump (just over 16 weeks)....just another thing to feel anxious about! Just got a call to say my consultant appointment is cancelled today due to the doctor's strikes, could have done without that as I'm not coping well with the uncertainty of things at the moment and this is just another thing that has knocked me a bit. I can't shake the thought that I'm having another missed miscarriage and there won't be a heartbeat at my scan on Monday 😔

Oh petal. Try not to worry yourself. I know it’s hard. My GP told me that once they get settled in there, they hold on really tight. You’ve made it this far. I’m sure everything is OK in there. Try to stay positive. Xxx

Thank you. It's so hard to not think the worst. Even the statistics don't help me because I'm one in 40-60,000 with my genetic issues so 1 in 100 sounds likely! 🙈

@TigerLily38 have your had your NT results back yet? I had my scan last Monday (14th July) and we are still waiting ! We have actually told a few people now about the pregnancy as I am 14 weeks but I’m slightly regretting it and worrying that the results will not be positive. I just called the midwife team and due to the doctor strikes starting today they’re unable to help as they’re very busy which I can of course understand.

What kind of things should I be looking out for once I get the results back everyone? What would ‘good results’ be? I have read that they give you a probability (e.g 1 in 1000) and I wonder what is deemed high or low etc.

Hope everyone is having a lovely day otherwise!!

Do you have the badger app where you are? We don’t have paper notes in my area now everything is on an app. When I got my results on the app it says low risk/high risk followed by the odds (1 in x amount etc). I was told by the lady who took my blood tests 1-150 is classed as high and anything below that is in the high risk bracket where they offer further testing. If you get a paper copy of your results it will tell if you if low/high the same as the app.

As a positive if you haven’t had your results yet that might be a sign of good news as I was told (by the midwife) if it’s high risk they tend to contact you very quickly within a few days. X

@peps2917 aww I'm sorry you're still waiting! I only had mine on Monday just gone (21st) and thankfully haven't had any calls so hoping thats a good sign! Nothing in the post or on my app yet but they did say it could take 10 days so might have quite a bit longer to wait, plus the strikes like you say 😩

I was measuring ahead on Monday so I'm 14+3 now and have a really obvious bump so it's getting really tricky not telling people! My mum knows and even she said today that I can't hide it anymore 😅 we might tell people this weekend or Monday and hope for the best 😬🤞❤️

peps2917 · 25/07/2025 15:47

@WanderWalker that’s helpful to know - thank you. Annoyingly my hospital doesn’t use that app so I have to wait it out until the letter comes. Really hoping it will be ok. I have heard things about the NHS test being really inaccurate but I’m going to choose to trust it and go with it unless results show high risk.

I have friends who have gone through pregnancy with little to no bump and all had healthy babies. Just remember everyone’s bodies are different ❤️

I know it’s so hard not to worry though. Sending lots of positive energy for your scan on Monday x

I didn’t get a letter. Just got the results on my app. The Tap for Details was just a generic passage about if your results are Low you won’t be offered any more tests. I was also told if you’re high risk you’ll hear faster and that no news is good news.

@Moosey898 its all the waiting round for appointments isn't it just feels like its anxiety inducing! I think once baby starts bouncing round thats the best reasurance but untill then it really is such a waiting game. Im sure everything is fine but I totally get how you feel. Xxx

My friend waited 3 weeks for her results and had to call to find out what was happening (they were low risk). The postal service is slow too, so that will be adding to it. Fingers crossed you get yours through soon 🤞🏻

Jadeypie · 25/07/2025 15:53

@peps2917 at my tests she said if they are high risk you get a phone call low risk is a letter in the post so I would take no news as a positive xx

peps2917 · 25/07/2025 15:55

@RealTealQueen thanks for that! Lovely results!! Hopefully this all means it’s good news but let’s see what happens.

@TigerLily38 ahhh I know it’s really hard to hide it. My bump isn’t showing too much but as my husband and I know my tummy so well we can tell it’s changing and growing. I wear a lot of baggy clothes anyway so can get away with it (for now!) I’m luckily not working all summer as I work in a school so don’t need to worry about telling colleagues or not. I have told all of my closest friends but to be honest I will need the support regardless so I’m glad I have. Never ending waiting game!!

TigerLily38 · 25/07/2025 16:10

@peps2917 Aww that's so good that you have that support, although I'm sure everything will be perfect! 😊 I work in an office and have already had a few little comments from colleagues who I think have guessed 😬 (risky, I'd never dare say anything!). Our closest friends, parents & siblings know but can't wait to tell the rest of our friends and family 🤭 Can't wait to get this wait out of the way but then it'll be onto the next thing for me to overthink about...the joys 🤣 x

peps2917 · 25/07/2025 16:27

Omg I know @TigerLily38 !!! Someone asked me at work too and I thought how nosey!
