Thank you so much for the info ☺️ she said about spotting, that's what i don't want! I will find it triggering because I've lost two myself. I will try vaginally this week because thats what she said to do but if that way causes anything I will speak to my midwife I have her next Monday. But thank you again xx

Hi all!

Just had my NHS 12 week scan today (measuring one week ahead at 13 weeks) and the sonographer asked if we wanted to potentially know the sex based on what she could see. This threw me to be honest! Anyway, she reckons she could see testicles and potentially penis. They were quite distinct on the scan as I could see it too and the baby was co-operating very well, but do you think it could potentially be incorrect? I know the genitals are more or less formed by this stage but to see them so early seems quite unusual. I know it’s harder to miss a boy than a girl, but has anyone had experience with this? We’re happy either way, we’ve already got one boy and we’d know the drill with another but just wondering whether to potentially be surprised or not at the next scan! Ha.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Aww its nice they could tell you i didnt think they would till 20 week scan. I had a scan today and im sure i could see a boy but she didnt say im going to ask on my next one.

I wouldn't go out and buy any colours just yet hahs are you getting a gender scan or waiting till 20 weeks? Xxx

WanderWalker · 21/07/2025 19:23

I managed to lock myself out my account so only just back in!

@Confusedmermaid1 I also looked at those super expensive pregnancy pillows and decided not to buy one. I got what from George at Asda online for about £25. It is huge though…12ft 🤣 but you can bend it into any shape you want. Doesn’t leave much room in the bed for your partner though 🤣 you can also buy some good ones from Amazon fairly cheap.

@Sunshinemoom I am also thinking of combi feeding. I’ve done a bit of research, but mainly into what teats are best for switching between the two. Apparently NUK natural teats and lansinoh teats are supposed to be good for combi as they are more like a nipple and pass something called the triangle test. The also fit other bottles like mam bottles if you are wanting a different bottle. The other thing I’ve read is to establish breast feeding first before introducing a bottle. If you have tik tok there are some good accounts on there that give advice from people who are actually combo feeding. Breast feeding didn’t work out for me with my last two babies, so they ended up being formula fed, so trying to keep an open mind.

TigerLily38 · 21/07/2025 19:42

Had my dating scan today and all looked good! 😊 I thought I was 13+2 based on LMP and previous early scans but it's measuring as 13+6 today, so suddenly I'm jumping to 14 weeks tomorrow!😆

Couldn't believe how much baby was moving on the scan, was there for ages as they wouldn't keep still for the measurements 🤭 crazy as obviously too early to feel anything!

Feeling quite real now!! Xx

Yeah to be honest I kinda wish they hadn’t said anything now as it’s too soon to speculate really! Definitely won’t be painting any walls blue just yet 😂 Might go for a private one before my 20 weeks.
Maybe you are having a little boy!

Moosey898 · 22/07/2025 17:02

How's everybody doing overall in terms of symptoms/tiredness etc?

Got my consultant appointment Friday, next scan with fetal medicine Monday, and midwife appointment Tuesday - getting hard to fob off work when I have to go to these appointments! I'm considering telling them after the next scan just to make my life easier! But so worried they'll get rid of me as I'm still in my probation period.

Yes I saw about the NUK natural teats, the midwife recommended them in my 16 weeks appointment earlier. Midwife said the same get breast feeding established before inducing the bottle, said even if I chose to formula feed overnight pump around 2am when your prolactin is highest which will help with your supply. I’ll have a look on TikTok as well thank you!

Oh that’s useful info I didn’t know. Thank you 😊 That’s good that your midwife seems to be giving you info too. I don’t see my midwife till 28 weeks now. Feels like I barely see them to ask any questions 😕

My sickness has pretty much gone now, but swapped with tiredness and I’ve started to wake throughout the night now 🙃 how are you feeling?

When does your probation period end?

RealTealQueen · 22/07/2025 19:21

I’ve not really felt sick today, which has been lovely but we’ve been having a clear out and I think I’ve done too much bending and lifting - my uterus feels tight and uncomfortable. Hopefully I’ve not done any damage 😣

I thought they weren’t allowed to get rid of women just because they’re pregnant? Does that not apply on probation?

dubkitten · 22/07/2025 19:41

Hi all! Currently 14+5 with my first after 4 rounds of IVF.

Feeling ok apart from the constant nausea- no vomiting thankfully

Aw that’s lovely! Congratulations 😊 …minus the nauseous obviously. I hope it passes quickly

dubkitten · 22/07/2025 20:52

@Jadeypie and @Confusedmermaid1 just on the progesterone - could you switch to injections instead? I was on progesterone supplements through my IVF until week 12 which I injected into my tummy. Used the pessaries a few years ago during treatment and hated them

Technically yes - but during probation they can say "thanks but it's not working out" even if you're pregnant and there's really no defense unless you can prove that it's because you're pregnant (like someone saw an email or heard a conversation about it). I don't think they would, but we wouldn't be able to afford to live if they did!

Same week as the final week I have to legally give notice that I'm pregnant 😂 which is what's causing me even more conflict! I could wait until then (assuming I'm not showing, and I'm currently almost 16 weeks and haven't got anything to show for it bump wise), but I don't know it that would be worse for me long term, holding out on them for so long!

@dubkitten I’ve only got a week or 2 left (hopefully, they advised to 16 weeks) and taking them rectally has changed my life 😅 it was getting me down when I was taking them vaginally but I’ve been managing much better the last few weeks.

I wouldn't have the balls to inject myself tbh hwhs ive only just started mine not found it too bad yet. Time will tell i suppose xx

I see what you mean that’s quite a tricky one as you’ve still got a way to go. I was going to say if it’s a couple of weeks then you could have held off. I agree they could just say it’s ‘not working out’ and it would be difficult to prove that it’s because you are pregnant. I think it all just depends on how you feel about the company, how you feel it’s going and if you think they would do that. I would have no chance as people at my work have already noticed I’m pregnant before I said anything due to the large bump I already seem to be sporting! (I’m 17 + 3). So I think it just depends on how you feel about telling them or not telling them.

So it's a company I've freelanced for for 3 years, and they approached me and said they wanted me for the job. Hopefully that would be enough for them to want me to come back after maternity leave? And I'm not costing them anything except finding a mat leave cover for my role as I've not been there long enough for statutory maternity pay, let alone enhanced (which is a shame as they have a good policy!)
