Congratulations everyone 🥰

Can't believe we've been home a week already. All he does is sleep, feed and poo 😆 He's been an absolute angel - my toddler DD was always so awake all the time and refused to be put down so I'm getting used to having a relaxed, non-velcro baby!

DD is also still obsessed with him which is so lovely 😍

@SnakebitesandSambucas did they give you any peppermint or lactulose syrup? The latter has been God send for me!

BrightGoose · 22/05/2025 10:01

I’m day two today and my tummy is just full of wind it’s so painful !

I have a little Velcro this time she’s not a fan of being put down .. not sure she’s feeding effectively either she’s just using my nipple as a dummy and not really drinking the milk!

congratulation @WildWhirlwind

SnakebitesandSambucas · 22/05/2025 10:52

Not having peppermint as could affect supply. But I'm on laxido and trying to mobilise a bit more. But baby boy just wants to eat sleep fart and poo lol. My pain isn't as bad now. Miss the oramoph but want to pop more lol 😆

SnakebitesandSambucas · 22/05/2025 10:53

@BrightGoose yes mine is a little lazy left side to latch. But I got checked out on ward bf specialist also got appointment at tongue tie clinic as a precaution.

BrightGoose · 25/05/2025 16:06

Well mastitis didn’t take long to come 🙃 honestly thought our feeding was going so well but clearly not.

SnakebitesandSambucas · 25/05/2025 17:43

@BrightGoose yes I'm feeling a little lumpy now. Got some supply issues. Felt a bit fluey earlier and threw up. How's your little ones weight doing? X

BrightGoose · 25/05/2025 17:48

I have an over supply issue engorged so tried to expressed hand yesterday and it did work but didn’t get it in time obviously I had a very red hot streaks on my breast and so I have oral antibiotics

shes lost 6% when she’s feeding she’s getting enough she barely cries for milk can go 4 hours without crying for milk until I wake her up

how’s everyone else’s little ones ?

Rainbowsunshine81 · 25/05/2025 18:53

Luca is on Kendamil formula for his feeds now. Seems to be pretty settled, though sometimes of a night when we put him down he'll get upset so pick him back up until he's calmer.
We have Ewan the sheep upstairs and my hummy downstairs, he seems to like the white noise.

SnakebitesandSambucas · 25/05/2025 19:01

I've hired a hospital Medela pump. He's lost 11% attachment issues. But slowly sorting it out. Pumping does make my nipples tender though. So I'm topping up with donor milk

SnakebitesandSambucas · 25/05/2025 19:03

@Rainbowsunshine81 aww they still sell the sheep!! It's a lovely noise. Anyone else having random hot flushes!

Night time is a sweaty disaster 😂

BrightGoose · 25/05/2025 20:56

I remember the night sweats from my last ! Gosh can’t wait 😂

my little lady doesn’t want to be put down to sleep had more success last night but that was co sleeping which I really don’t want to get in the habit of doing but we haven’t slept for three days prior.. we shall see what tonight brings

SnakebitesandSambucas · 25/05/2025 22:09

Yep safe co sleeping is definitely the way forward to function. I'm in less pain though which is good. Just trying to keep up energy for older ones as well

GraySweatpants · 25/05/2025 22:15

I do recommend taking sunflower lecithin to help preventing mastitis.

I got mastitis with my first baby and that helped relieving it the very next day, so ended up taking it for the next 6 months. I’m taking it again now and so far my boobs are comfortable and no signs of mastitis.

Rainbowsunshine81 · 26/05/2025 08:19

@SnakebitesandSambucas yep we've got a Ewan the sheep again, it's handy as this version you can charge. I've had the odd hot flush.

BrightGoose · 26/05/2025 08:22

How’s everyone’s breast feeding going? How often are they feeding ? We are giving one bottle of formula at night when I’m in bed but she rarely feeds more often than 3/4 hourly .. had abit of a cluster feed in the night too

LeBonBon · 26/05/2025 10:13

Theo's doing well - we're exclusively breastfeeding and on the day 10 weigh in he was just 3oz off birth weight.

Every day has been completely different - some days we'll have clusterfeeding in the morning where he doesn't want to come off, then we'll have 2-4 hour intervals for the rest of the day and all night. Some days he's been super sleepy during the day and saved the clusterfeeding until the evening, and then done 5-6 hour sleeps overnight. We've also had a couple of nights where he's fed every 30mins-1 hour 🫠

After experiencing this with my DD (and knowing how much easier it gets!!), I'm much more confident this time.

I do think they're isn't enough information or reality sharing with new mums about how hard the first couple of weeks really are whilst breastfeeding.

BrightGoose · 26/05/2025 10:46

Yeah with my first I didn’t breast feed at all and couldn’t cuz he was on double concentrate milk, my second I really struggle had mastitis twice once I was hospitalised and then I just couldn’t do it wasn’t worth the hurt so this time I said I’m ganna give her some however much some is I don’t know but truely happy to combi feed and we’ve done really well but it is hard ! I think it’s hard for me too because my section pain limits to how I can feed and also I don’t have furniture that supports me lol 😆

Miley went from 7.5 to 6.13 on day 5 yesterday but I think she will just keep gaining now cuz my milk is in

BrightGoose · 26/05/2025 10:56

@GraySweatpants what kind of form does the sunflower lecithin come in are they capsules ?

microwoods · 26/05/2025 11:07

Roman’s EBF and doing really well! He’s a greedy feeder and only lost 2% by day 3 and was back above birth weight by day 5. I think it’s a culmination of him taking to it really easily and my milk coming in quite quickly!

He tends to cluster feed in the mornings and sometimes before bed too but other than that feeds seem to be every 3 hours ish. I haven’t been tracking anything this time because of how on it he is!

DD was the complete opposite and was still losing weight by day 5. I had to wake her to feed and had to strip her down to her nappy during night feeds to keep her awake on the boob!

I've surrendered to co-sleeping this time, although DP is in the spare room so I have the whole bed.

DP and I nearly killed ourselves with shifts and endless transfer attempts with our first and I was horrifically sleep deprived. Ended up co-sleeping eventually anyway. This time around we managed about a week in the moses basket but he's a total velcro baby 🤷‍♀️

My 2 year old sleeps independently so I'm not worried about fitting bad habits or anything, everything is temporary.

He is 26 days old and has been cluster feeding this last day or so, my poor nipples feel like they're going to fall off.

GraySweatpants · 27/05/2025 01:54

@BrightGoose Yes they come in capsules. Quite big actually - bigger than Pregnacare. I’m used to them so don’t mind too much.

You can get them on ebay quite competitively priced.

GraySweatpants · 27/05/2025 02:00

@TheBeesKnee Is your 2yo sleeping totally independently? How did you do it?

Mine just turned 2 in March and been co-sleeping since birth too. We moved her to her own room 2 months ago and luckily she sleeps through the whole night. But I still have to spend 30 mins to settle her every night and she doesn’t want Daddy to do it at all (occasionally she might do with nap time, but absolutely no bed time)
