Hi!

Just thought i’d start a thread as I know a few of us have found out we are expecting! Would love to hear everyone’s stories to start us off as I know December feels soooo far away yet!

I’ll go first, I already have one child, he is 6 years old Smile Totally did not plan to have anymore once me and his dad split, I was one and done. However, years on met my current other half and I just knew straight away I had a change of heart. We started trying 18 months ago with negatives every month, later finding out there was infertility on both our sides. We moved in together January this year after deciding we would give IVF a try once we were settled in new GPs etc, only to find out we were pregnant! This came to an abrupt end 3 days later where we had what’s known as a chemical pregnancy. Absolutely heartbroken I had half given up, what were the chances we would fall pregnant again so soon after so long of nothing?

Well, here we are, after only 1 cycle later, pregnant again! Hopefully this time is different for us, it definetly feels different! Grin

My test was a bit lighter this morning too. Pretty much preparing myself. I had a miscarriage in August. This would be my 2nd loss. Honestly don't know how I'm going to cope if I lose this pregnancy.

Oh no I’m sorry to hear this 😔

mine aren’t getting darker so assume it’ll be a chemical. I got 1-2 weeks on a digital at 12DPO and did another digital this morning 16DPO and it still says 1-2 (I should be 4wks2days), which maybe is ok and they’re probably not that reliable. I struggle as don’t wake up at the same time every day and I’ve been waking through the night and needing to pee, so it’s hard to compare cheapy tests but they don’t seem to be getting darker now. Have been having cramps for the last day and a bit. No bleeding yet.

Nosejug · 11/04/2025 08:16

I also have a slightly lighter test this morning and have been at 1-2 weeks for too long. Also woke in the night (3) with fairly intense abdominal pain, and throbbing to one side… the epu are going to call me back. I’m sorry we’re all in this unsteady boat and I sincerely hope it turns out well for us all.

@Mama09876 did you get your 2-3? 🤞I hope so!

Nosejug · 11/04/2025 09:19

Will get scan and bloods this morning at epu… wish me luck if you can spare it!

Sorry to hear this 😔 I’ve never been in this situation before (never had a Bfp) so not really sure what to do. I’ve got a GP appt anyway next week (to discuss fertility, booked before bfp!), so guess I’ll discuss it then. Thought about doing an online form to flag it before my appt but probably not much they’ll advise as it’s better 5 weeks? And I’ve got cramping (enough to wake in night) but it’s not on one side or any other ectopic like symptoms.

Feel a bit stupid too for registering with midwives so early as will have to say no longer needed and should have just waited 😔

CandyRain89 · 11/04/2025 09:58

Joining in :) currently 4w5d due on 14th December. We already have a 10 year old so this will be our 2nd. TTC for 5 years, had a chemical in July 2024 and MMC at 12 weeks in January this year. Really hoping this one sticks 🤞

Nosejug · 11/04/2025 09:59

I think it’s the spotting, one sided pain and the fact that I was already flagged as maybe ectopic that’s getting them to see me. If I’m honest, I’m very lucky with this epu they are incredibly supportive. She said it’s likely they won’t be able to tell anything for a while and not to expect any immediate answers. Maybe call your gp, explain you’re too early for epu and ask for bloods? I went there first but got told to call epu. My pain has subsided significantly though I’m quite shivery and the one sided throb is still there. I’m sorry you’re not getting the same support. I’m happy to listen x

spttc · 11/04/2025 11:05

I'm in Ireland, so maybe not the same. But here you don't need epu. U can walk into any maternity hospital emergency dept and they'll see you, do bloods, scan etc (all free). Is it the same in uk?

Oh that’s good they’re checking out. Hope they can give some answers and support xx

I spoke to doctors and they said if I have severe bleeding or cramps to call them back, but otherwise just wait and see and will discuss at appointment.

I’ve been having really wobbly blood sugar the last few days - suddenly get starving and really wobbly despite regularly eating, which is unusual for me. So some things are making me wonder if it’s all ok just slow progress. Time will tell!

so where I am, it’s self referral/referral to EPU but only after 5 weeks. And before that you have to go to gp (or so I understand)

Nosejug · 11/04/2025 13:41

I’m in Scotland so it makes sense if there are lots of different rules! I’ll say one thing about the pee tests, the midwife was completely dismissive of their value as a quantitative measure (we all know it’s true but for those of us in worry it’s hard to dismiss them). I just say that to give a little pinch of salt to the tests, it’s reassuring to hear for sure.

Mama09876 · 11/04/2025 13:48

@Nosejug i hope you’re able to get the early scan booked and im holding out hope for you!

@Muddysocks1 if it helps I took a clear blue at 4 weeks and got 1-2 weeks but it was at 5pm at night then took first wee this morning at 4+3 and got my 2-3 weeks. I think it’s still positive for you! There hasn’t been any spotting or bleeding yet I don’t think you said. Got everything crossed for you!

I’m feeling better about it all now, more confident less stressed. I’m still really early but I’m booked in with midwife’s and hospital for 9 weeks and 16 weeks. All moved very quick! 😂 don’t remember them confirming bookings this early last time but I’m glad I can plan around it now with work.

I think that is so true! I’ve been reading that a lot. Plus I’m not very consistent with wake times and hydration, so I don’t think my tests are taken consistently.
I wish we got routine blood tests like the US!

Oh ok that is promising!!

That’s great that it’s booked in! I can see on my nhs app there’s a document on gp file with when appts/scans need to be but no contact yet. Weirdly it put me as a day behind compared to what I’d worked out, so I thought I’d done it at 4weeks0days but it says 3weeks6days which seems super keen even though it’s only one day less.
I hope I know what’s happening before they contact me!

Nosejug · 11/04/2025 14:41

My new digital arrived in the post right before I left for the hospital and I also suddenly got my 2-3 weeks! 1-2 this morning with 3am “fmu”. Definitely not taking any more tests.

@Muddysocks1 i know what you mean about the American bloods, it’s always on their forums. It’s pretty expensive to get them privately here.. glad you’re feeling a bit more hopeful, I think it’s well placed hope.

@Mama09876 so pleased you got your 2-3 :)

Luckypinkduck · 11/04/2025 18:09

So excited to find a thread already! I have a 3 year old so this will be baby 2. I think I am about 5 weeks but my periods can be irregular so won't know for sure till the scan.
I had horrible sickness last night so part dredding it starting but also worried I feel completely fine. I think it won't feel real until I am sick! Is it far too soon for cravings? I feel like I am really fancying all sorts of unhealthy stuff but I might just be giving myself a free pass to have things I normally stay away from.
Congratulations everyone!

Luckypinkduck · 11/04/2025 18:14

Sorry all I hadn't read all the posts before I posted and see lots of people having worries. Sorry if my tone wasn't right, it's a really worrying time and hard if your not telling people to keep up a pretense of normal life. Sending love.

Dori92 · 11/04/2025 21:25

Hi! Found out I was pregnant just over a week ago at only 8DPO! Very early for a positive I believe. First time pregnancy, I have requested to join the WhatsApp group, hope that’s okay ❤️ I’m a nervous wreck and it would be great to be in a group with others who understand what this anxiety is like 😂 x

Dori92 · 11/04/2025 21:55

Muddysocks1 · 08/04/2025 07:26

Has anyone registered their pregnancy with the midwives yet? I went to do it but it says from 6 weeks which feels ages away!

Hi! I registered mine with the midwife as soon as I found out. I’m currently 4+4 and already have my
booking appointment for in 4 weeks time 😊 I didn’t see anything that said you had to wait until 6 weeks x

Muddysocks1 · 11/04/2025 22:23

congrats @Luckypinkduck and @Dori92!

definitely not @Luckypinkduck, it’s such a rollercoaster so good to celebrate the good news! ☺️

spttc · 12/04/2025 07:43

I registered at 7 weeks on my first pregnancy. Was smooth. Successful. I registered at 4.5-5 weeks on my last pregnancy and miscarried a few days before my first appointment and had to cancel -so now I'm nervous & I'm going to wait until at least 6.5 weeks 🙈

Muddysocks1 · 12/04/2025 07:57

I tested again this morning and it’s not got any darker. In fact maybe lighter than a few days ago. I think most likely will be a chemical now

spttc · 12/04/2025 10:58

@Muddysocks1 mine kind of did that yesterday but then it's a bit darker today. Both times was first thing in morning. I'm still not relaxed but I think the tests aren't always exactly accurate

Dori92 · 12/04/2025 11:05

Got a 3+ this morning! Hoping this is a good sign it’s sticking 🙏 x
