Hi!

Just thought i’d start a thread as I know a few of us have found out we are expecting! Would love to hear everyone’s stories to start us off as I know December feels soooo far away yet!

I’ll go first, I already have one child, he is 6 years old Smile Totally did not plan to have anymore once me and his dad split, I was one and done. However, years on met my current other half and I just knew straight away I had a change of heart. We started trying 18 months ago with negatives every month, later finding out there was infertility on both our sides. We moved in together January this year after deciding we would give IVF a try once we were settled in new GPs etc, only to find out we were pregnant! This came to an abrupt end 3 days later where we had what’s known as a chemical pregnancy. Absolutely heartbroken I had half given up, what were the chances we would fall pregnant again so soon after so long of nothing?

Well, here we are, after only 1 cycle later, pregnant again! Hopefully this time is different for us, it definetly feels different! Grin

That one is full so they won’t accept I tried multiple times lol unfortunately but the next one there is 24 of us at the moment so isn’t too many it’s nice. If you wanted to join that one message @KT199

Thank you, that makes sense. I’ve sent a message now.

MedbN · 28/05/2025 15:59

Had my 12 week scan yesterday as well and my due date has been set at Dec 2nd too 😊 Baby was in an awkward position so lots of jiggling and wiggling about to try and get the right view for the tests but so thankful once the sonographer pointed out the heartbeat after previous losses. Like you now awaiting testing results but fingers crossed no news is good news 😊

Am going to message now to join the WhatsApp group as feeling more positive about things now.

Anyone suffering with dry skin? It's like there's a snow machine every time I get undressed. I struggle with a skin condition already, HS and have the occasional eczema outbreak but I've never had skin like this. I'm using emollient creams to shower with a moisturising every night and still the same

TTCK8 · 28/05/2025 19:47

@CheeryPombear Not suffering with dry skin so not helpful there sorry! But thought I’d comment because I also have HS. I’m 30 and have suffered since being a teen! It’s so rare to come across someone else with it. How have your flare ups been since being pregnant? … I’m 12 weeks today have been getting 2 pretty bad ones in the same place on and off for weeks.

CheeryPombear · 28/05/2025 20:16

@TTCK8 wow it is rare to find someone else! I've had it since my teenage years but quite mild and always got dismissed by the doctors as just poor hygiene, ingrowing hairs etc. Finally diagnosed about 4 years ago now when I ended up on a full 12 week antibiotics course, steroids & an infected groin with tracking down my leg.

Since getting pregnant I've only had two sores, one under each under arm but neither are too bad at the moment. I'm hoping the hormones will keep it under control. I'm 10 weeks so a little behind you.

I'm waiting for a derm appointment and have been on the wait list for a year now 😩

Fingers crossed we have got this!

LemonMermaid · 29/05/2025 08:41

I’ve gone from symptoms disappearing completely to throwing up this morning brushing my teeth 🤦🏻‍♀️ isn’t pregnancy fun 😂 I also feel like a balloon has been inflated inside of me. 10.3 & definitely look like I’m showing now. Luckily my uniform hides it quite well

congratulations, that's wonderful! I have mine tomorrow and I'm feeling really nervous for it. Hoping that all will be okay. It's lovely to see a healthy scan, thank you for sharing.

I've never really had dry skin but my face has become incredibly dry. I'm wondering about changing my cream, I normally just use the big Cerave tub (which is supposed to be for dry skin anyway) but it's stinging when I use it! Any recommendations for a gentler face cream would be very welcome. I'm sorry I don't really have any tips yet for improving it.

I cannot brush my back teeth in the morning without gagging horribly 🤢 it's awful, unfortunately I remember having this issue all the way through with last baby. I have a dentist appointment on the 18th and I'm hoping my not great brushing won't come back to bite me in the bum, trying to give them a good going over in the evening but always worry about what the dentist will say 😬

CheeryPombear · 29/05/2025 16:44

@LemonMermaid I've got the new national NHS uniform and it is great at hiding weight gain and the trousers are so comfy. Really bloated today as well. 10+5 today.

PearlSimmon · 30/05/2025 13:33

Super thankful for a healthy and bouncy 10 WK scan today. Will go back in 2 weeks for proper dating as I'm a bit out based on LMP which indicated I was 12wks by now. I was super nervous and cried with relief when they said there was a heartbeat. Sending lots of luck for others getting scans soon, and welcome gender theories: I feel like it's a boy but I have nothing to compare it to so I don't know. Due date estimated December 25th!

We had our dating scan yesterday, baby measured few days ahead so my due date was moved to 11th December. Everything looked great, baby was really active and wriggling a lot so took a moment to get all the measurements.

Hi everyone!

Just tagging on as we hit 12 weeks today (finally)
After 8 years and failed ivf we got a surprise (and totally natural) positive test in April

I’ve been quite ill with this pregnancy but feel like I’m coming out the other side now hopefully
still got to wait another ten days until our scan but I’m fairly certain our due date is 13th dec 🙄

I have a 14 year old from a previous relationship who is a Christmas baby and I’m a Christmas baby - typical! 😂

You have to go on MN on your safari. The app doesn’t allow you to private message x

Hi everyone! And congratulations ☺️
it’s my first pregnancy and I’m due to have my 12 week scan on Thursday. I’d like to just ask you all few questions.
How many scan pictures did they print off for you?
What to wear? Do they give you a gown to wear for the scan or you stay in your own clothes ?
Is it true that you should try and have a full “ish” bladder for better scan results?
thank you in advance for taking your time to answer my questions. Xxx

We got 5 pictures printed during our dating scan but earlier scans they only printed a couple. At my hospital they don’t give you a gown and I just wore trousers and a top.
i think having a full bladder makes it easier to the tech to see the baby clearly.

Cheesetoastiees · 07/06/2025 20:50

Hello, I hope it’s okay to join! This is my second pregnancy and 13 weeks today and our due date was 14th of December!
Had our scan a couple of days ago and got the sock of our lives when we were told we were having twins so currently changing all our life plans 😂
Enjoying reading the thread and seeing everyone’s scan pictures!

At our hospital they printed a couple of pictures but in some places you have to pay so you may want to check with your hospital or take some cash (I’ve heard some places prefer coins).

The scan probe only goes over your lower tummy so you’ll just have to pull your top up and top of trousers down slightly. They’ll give you some tissue to protect the top of your trousers from gel. I would wear trousers and top so you don’t have the pull a dress right up.

Yes you need a full bladder, if they need you to empty it they’ll ask you to pee!

Hi everyone,

Hope it’s okay to join! I’m 12+1 and am really missing community this time around. I have an almost 3 year old boy. I haven’t had my 12 week scan yet so yet to tell many people except my family and medical professionals of course.

I loved being part of a WhatsApp group last time so have requested to join :)

Mimi987 · 09/06/2025 18:06

Hi all
my results from my bloods have come back a 1 in 71 chance of Down’s syndrome. Going in for an nipt blood test tomorrow. Anyone got any experience of this? Not the happy time I was hoping for!

UNICORN1589 · 09/06/2025 21:12

@Mimi987 I had this with my last baby. It has given me anxiety this time around and I cant enjoy any of it until iv had my 12 week scan and tests.

I was told I had a high risk of downs, Edwards or Pataou's. The sonographer was horrid and put us in a little side room to wait for someone to come and chat to us. We went home so upset and had further tests and all was fine, they couldn't give me a reason as to why I had come back high risk. She is now happy and healthy. Please dont panic (easier said than done) until you have all tests and results confirmed. Keep us updated.

Eblackdog · 10/06/2025 09:30

@Mimi987 i don’t have any experience with this but sending you lots of love xx

CheeryPombear · 11/06/2025 05:11

Morning everyone, noticed the chat has been a bit quieter recently. Hope everyone is ok.
We have our 12 week scan tomorrow (12+5) and I am so nervous about it all. My boss has let me take the whole day off which is amazing as I don't think I'll be able to concentrate.

I stopped my progesterone injections over the weekend but still going with suppositories. Clinic said to stop at 12 weeks but I have loads left from over ordering and I feel so nervous about it. My symptoms have actually increased since stopping the injections. Nausea this week has knocked me for 6 and my boobs feel like they're on fire. I definitely need to think about a maternity bra but I'm waiting until after tomorrow.

A lot of close friends/colleagues know about my pregnancy and are so excited for my scan and I don't think they understand why I'm dreading it so much. The "whatifs" drive me a little mad sometimes.

Looking forward to some updates from everyone else - is there still a WhatsApp group?
