Hi!

Just thought i’d start a thread as I know a few of us have found out we are expecting! Would love to hear everyone’s stories to start us off as I know December feels soooo far away yet!

I’ll go first, I already have one child, he is 6 years old Smile Totally did not plan to have anymore once me and his dad split, I was one and done. However, years on met my current other half and I just knew straight away I had a change of heart. We started trying 18 months ago with negatives every month, later finding out there was infertility on both our sides. We moved in together January this year after deciding we would give IVF a try once we were settled in new GPs etc, only to find out we were pregnant! This came to an abrupt end 3 days later where we had what’s known as a chemical pregnancy. Absolutely heartbroken I had half given up, what were the chances we would fall pregnant again so soon after so long of nothing?

Well, here we are, after only 1 cycle later, pregnant again! Hopefully this time is different for us, it definetly feels different! Grin

Hello all, 8.5-9 weeks here and bloating is just unreal. My belly is like a drum and I'm constantly hiccuping! This is an ivf pregnancy so I'm on progesterone, oestrogen, lubion, steroid and blood thinners. I'm hoping it's the medication combined with my own bodies hormones that is making me blow up like a balloon, but man it's uncomfortable 😫 anyone else feeling similar? Ivf clinic discharged us to maternity last week but said i could come back for another scan if i was anxious. Im seriously thinking about it, but don't want to look silly 'Oh your bloated? Yes, that's because you are pregnant '🤦‍♀️

PennyPencils · 15/05/2025 11:18

Bad news for me today ladies.
Had my scan at 8.5 weeks this morning and was measuring a week behind and no heartbeat.
4th miscarriage for me now and I'm 42 this summer and I have my gorgeous 2yo daughter already plus an 18 daughter too.
I did everything I could with this pregnancy and I'd already decided it was the last try so I'm bowing out.
I will be in hospital next week for the expulsion.
Wishing you all the very best luck and I hope I'm the only one in the group who has to go through it. I suppose statistically, so many pregnancies fail so hopefully I am that statistic and you all go on to have lovely babies. 💐

CheeryPombear · 15/05/2025 12:46

@PennyPencils I am so sorry. I don't think there is anything any of us can say to help or make you feel any better. Just know you're in our prayers. Life is so utterly cruel sometimes.

@Goldfish93 same! 8+5 today and feel like a balloon most days. Horrendous nausea but very little vomiting. Also struggling with constipation. I'm on the same meds as also IVF but stopped the clexane due to an SCH. I think they do have an impact especially keeping to a set regime and having to think about next dose all the time. Lucky getting the option of an extra scan, my clinic just said congrats and off you go, nothing to give to GP or any further information except contact them after birth. Have you got a midwife appointment yet? Next scan?

houwseevryweekend · 15/05/2025 13:05

@PennyPencils Am so sorry for your loss and wishing you and your family strength and that you find your joy again. Look after yourself and hold your girls extra close today.

Durhamgirlie · 15/05/2025 13:24

@PennyPencilsi am so sincerely sorry. Sending love 🤍

PennyPencils · 15/05/2025 14:18

Thank you all. Heavy heart. Trying to accept it.
X

Just had my early 8 week scan and I’m measuring more like 9 weeks and everything is as it should be. Baby is 22mm and about the size of a jelly baby. I actually cried when we saw the heartbeat. Such a special moment. Praying the rest of the journey is this straightforward! x

Hi everyone - joining as I’m also due Dec 2025 - it’s between the 22nd and 24th for me (IVF clinic and midwife have difference of opinion!). My pregnancy is an IVF pregnancy.
@Goldfish93 - I’m 9 weeks on Tuesday and also bloated AF. On progesterone and blood thinners (due to OHSS) too. My bloating is due to OHSS - it was a lot, lot worse 4 weeks ago. Did you do egg collection on this round as that might be why you’re having some bloating?

CheeryPombear · 18/05/2025 16:38

@Charmofgoldfinch I'm also an IVF pregnancy. We transfer 3rd April and due 20th December by IVF date but was a little behind at early scan. Not yet seen my midwife. 9+1 today. I never ever thought I would get here.

PuckyMup · 18/05/2025 18:08

Jumping back in, have made it to 9 weeks. I’ve had 2 scans already - a 5 ish weeks scan after bleeding (now on progesterone pessaries twice a day) and a 7 week viability scan to confirm all was progressing which has “activated” a flurry of medical appointments. I’m type 2 diabetic and now under 2 consultants and my GP, have a freestyle libre monitoring my blood sugars and it’s looking likely for insulin immintly sadly - my values are fine for “normal” but running too high for pregnancy. I’ve also been started on aspirin from week 10 so that starts later this week. I have got dietician input coming, have my first community midwife appointment later this week and my 12 week scan 2nd week of June - finding all this input overwhelming as it’s happening in a bombardment of appointments and phone calls, but am ultimately grateful we’re being so closely monitored. I’ve been told they won’t let me go past 38 weeks, so my original 19th Dec EDD means hopefully this might be an end of November baby 🤞

Loum85 · 18/05/2025 19:44

10 weeks today! Feels a mixture of flown by but also going slow, just want to tell people now! The nausea/sickness is slowly getting better, the fatigue still remains about the same. I’ve realised I have to eat as soon as I wake up to help with the sickness. Getting stomach ache/cramps occasionally too, I’m assuming this is normal? Can’t wait for our next scan

UNICORN1589 · 19/05/2025 12:24

Has anyone not heard from/seen a midwife yet? I gave my form in at Dr's 2 weeks ago and they said she be in touch, dont know weather to chase it up or if its normal? Its been 8 years since my last baby and then I just rang up and saw the midwife the same week I found out. I will be 9 weeks this week.

emzlyz · 19/05/2025 15:37

Hi all

New here. We have a bit of a fertility history, but currently pregnant with our December 25 baby. Not our first born, but praying will be our first earth side. Our first was born on January 6th 2025, so we are extremely lucky and grateful that we should have our rainbow before Riley's first birthday/anniversary.

Currently around 8 weeks pregnant. Saw our midwife last week and she booked us in for a scan at EPU due to some spotting, everything looked good, just measuring a few days behind, trying not to worry about it. I have know since about 3 weeks so this feels like the longest pregnancy ever already. It is going so slowly! Waiting to get our first consultant appointment and another reassurance scan.

emzlyz · 19/05/2025 15:40

@UNICORN1589 do you know if you can self refer? My trust you self refer and they use 'my pregnancy notes', I only found out about my midwife appointment because I logged onto my pregnancy notes and saw the appointment.

UNICORN1589 · 19/05/2025 18:45

I called GP...my form still in midwifes pigeon hole 🙈 said they have put a note on her file to check it when she is in on Wednesday (only in once a week). If not I will self refer. Thanks.

Pinkstuffs · 19/05/2025 18:57

@UNICORN1589 the set up with your gp sounds similar to mine. At this stage I would self refer, as my midwife only works once per week out of my gp surgery she does work other days from an office or other surgeries so she picked up my self referrals really fast. I would want to make sure I got an appointment for my dating scan on time.

UNICORN1589 · 19/05/2025 19:00

Its such a faff. Never had to do this with any of my others. If I dont hear on Wednesday I will self refer. Im not overly bothered as iv had a private scan and booked another but I just wanted make sure she was aware of me! 😂🙈

CheeryPombear · 19/05/2025 22:20

@UNICORN1589 they have a target to meet to see you at this point in your pregnancy. I kept ringing mine until I got an appointment as it took over 2 weeks for them to pick up the paperwork.

Eblackdog · 21/05/2025 14:17

Does anybody know roughly when you’re meant to get your 12 week/dating scan appointment date please? I’ll be 10 weeks tomorrow and I’m a little worried as my partner is away for 2 days at the start of June 🙃

Butterflygirl23 · 21/05/2025 14:41

@Eblackdoghave you had your booking appointment? Because usually you receive it after that via letter , or nhs app once booked or badgernotes app

Yes I’ve had my booking appointment two weeks ago! I don’t know if I should give the hospital a call…

CheeryPombear · 21/05/2025 16:21

@Eblackdog I would ring them, it may be they've posted your appointment and it's not reached you.

Sooo we've made it to 9+4, still feel surreal. Still minimal symptoms.
Had our 1st midwife appointment today and we get consultant led care due to IVF, SCH and age. I cried.

Just waiting for our 12 week scan now. It's so hard waiting!

I got my appointment a couple of days after the booking appointment. I would chase it up in case it’s lost or you need to change the date.

Mines at 13 weeks

Eblackdog · 22/05/2025 07:04

Thanks everyone! I rang them and as I thought, my paperwork had been “lost” and the hospital weren’t even aware of me. All booked in now thankfully but annoyingly I’ll be 13+3 by the time of the appointment!
