Hi!

Just thought i’d start a thread as I know a few of us have found out we are expecting! Would love to hear everyone’s stories to start us off as I know December feels soooo far away yet!

I’ll go first, I already have one child, he is 6 years old Smile Totally did not plan to have anymore once me and his dad split, I was one and done. However, years on met my current other half and I just knew straight away I had a change of heart. We started trying 18 months ago with negatives every month, later finding out there was infertility on both our sides. We moved in together January this year after deciding we would give IVF a try once we were settled in new GPs etc, only to find out we were pregnant! This came to an abrupt end 3 days later where we had what’s known as a chemical pregnancy. Absolutely heartbroken I had half given up, what were the chances we would fall pregnant again so soon after so long of nothing?

Well, here we are, after only 1 cycle later, pregnant again! Hopefully this time is different for us, it definetly feels different! Grin

@Mama09876my bloat is giving me a sizeable bump 🤦🏻‍♀️ it’s hideable though so not too bad. I’ve not been at work for nearly 5 weeks due to partner having a motorbike accident but he is all better now so back to work Saturday. I’m just hoping no one notices the bloated bump 😂 also hoping no one notices me needing the bathroom more often. I’m not weeing as much now but this nausea is making me feel like I’m going to be sick so hoovering around the bathroom at times 🤦🏻‍♀️

PearlSimmon · 06/05/2025 22:44

I think I can just about be in this club but I'm a bit worried already about dates (it's my first time). Based on my last period date I would be 8wks this week and due December 12th. However I went for a private scan on Monday and measured at just 6 weeks, due date 29th Dec. The sonographer said not to worry and I probably just ovulated later but I'm still so worried about what it might mean if progress is way slower than I thought. We did see a heartbeat which is good, but does anyone have a similar experience of finding out you're less far along than you'd thought? Thankyou

PennyPencils · 07/05/2025 07:53

@LemonMermaid I've been horribly sick in both previous successful pregnancies so o expected it.
The memory of it was nothing compared to the reality.
I refused medication to help before but with a toddler to look after I think I'll have to try it.
I can't go the next few months being a slug on the sofa.

houwseevryweekend · 07/05/2025 08:04

Hello ladies! Hope everyone is ok? I’m 6w2d and have had bad nausea for the last week. Thought it was a side effect of my UTI antibiotics but I’ve finished my dose and it’s still there. Not enough to vomit or even dry heave but just constant queasiness. It gets much better late afternoon then bad at night - mornings at work are tough. I

I’ve had weird cravings too as when queasy i can only eat some things - shrimp pot noodles, cheeseburgers (but to save my waistline and budget I’ve learnt a fried egg cheese toastie is as good!), and oven baked Mediterranean flat breads with baked feta and Greek salad. I’ve gone off coffee too which has left me sad as i found a really good decaff option and love my morning cuppa. Strong perfume (even my own) or any engine related smells (like on the tube or bus) makes me feel ill. Still bloated too but it does seem better than last week - I started eating kéfir which may have helped. It’s not as disgusting as I feared, started eating it so the antibiotics didn’t give me thrush but think I’ll carry on.

I have my early reassurance scan later this week with EPU so feeling nervous as it gets closer. Dreading being in that room again as I’ve only had bad news!

Anyone have a scan coming up this week or next?

houwseevryweekend · 07/05/2025 08:12

@PearlSimmon welcome! It’s really good you saw a heartbeat but understand the worry about tracking 2 weeks behind. If your cycles aren’t regular and you weren’t tracking ovulation you certainly could be much earlier than you thought. The internet has 50:50 outcomes i found when obsessively searching in my last pregnancy when I was 10 days behind. Mine wasn’t good but they never saw a fetal pole or heartbeat at 7.5 weeks so not same as yours. Guard your heart until your next scan but trust that until told otherwise or you have any major bleeding with cramps, you are pregnant!

PennyPencils · 07/05/2025 15:18

@houwseevryweekend ha funny how one person's cravings is another person's 🤢
Fried egg and cheese sandwich!!!!
My scan is on the 15th ill be 8.5 weeks then so should be something to see if it's all well.
Will you post a picture from yours for us? I'd love to see everyone's scans as they start coming in.

Durhamgirlie · 07/05/2025 15:30

@houwseevryweekendmy early scan is next week and I can’t wait! I’ll be nearly 9 weeks by then but it’s the soonest I can do it as my OH works away and it’s the first day he’s back we could get an appointment!

Why and how have I never had a cheese & fried egg toastie?!?! This is getting tried as soon as I have eggs 🤣

Loum85 · 07/05/2025 18:35

Had my first midwife appointment today, didn’t realise it would be 90 minutes long. I’ve got to have extra scans as we go along due to my age (40) and start taking aspirin from 12 weeks. I feel reassured that she didn’t make a big deal out my age and she said she had her last baby at 40 🥰

CheeryPombear · 07/05/2025 19:23

Hi all, 7+3 today and nausea has kicked in. On a teams meeting this morning, took a swig of tea and nearly puked all over the desk. Turns out the milk was turning which was not great! Felt nauseous for a good hour afterwards.

I'm totally off artificially sweet foods but managing to tolerate fruit ok and beef crisps are my new best friend.

Ended up back in EPU yesterday, phoned the community team to chase my appointment as not heard anything yet and told them all about what was going on, I'm still bleeding and they wanted me checked out again. Saw a lovely Consultant who said no concerns and didn't want to traumatise me by scanning again and she gave some great advice. I'm slowly starting to relax. 2 of my team are midwives so I have advice on hand and they're mothering me, making sure I drink, take breaks and eat properly and safely which means throwing out my lunch which I'd got interrupted on and left on the side for 30 mins!

Sounds like everyone else is doing well ❤️

becreca · 07/05/2025 19:32

Hey! Also joining! 7+6 weeks. Also got a 5.5 year old son

Jelliestogether · 08/05/2025 06:24

Hi all, been lurking here for a while but thought id finally join now. Im around 8.5/9w, not totally sure as periods arent super regular. This is baby 3, have a 5y and 3y old already. This baby is very wanted but a very big surprise. Nausea is bad but mints/sweets to suck are helping. No actual vomit. Omg the bloating this time round is insane. Got a private nipt scan on the 23rd when ill be around 10.5/11w. Got my midwife next sunday. So all starting to be a bit real.

CheeryPombear · 10/05/2025 12:02

Morning everyone, baby & I have made it to 8 weeks! This is a huge milestone for us.

Got our 1st midwife appointment in 2 weeks but no scans booked in yet. I don't know whether to do a private one or not. Other than that feeling well, nausea is up and down, boobs still hurt and still getting some spotting but pains have gone.

Biggest thing I'm struggling with is not knowing what's going on in my body. I can't see changes, nothing is really evident. How do I know baby is ok?

I've signed up for some counselling as the whole journey to get here has really put me through it.

Sending love

PearlSimmon · 10/05/2025 17:01

Thankyou @houwseevryweekend for reassuring me, I really appreciate your time and I'm sending lots of safe wishes to you.
I'm now just trying to keep calm and carry on til my NHS scan on 30th may.
I had my midwife app this week and was advised I would be a high risk pregnancy due to having Crohn's disease which sounds a bit scary but ultimately I'm happy that I'll get some support with it. It seems mostly under control for now (but hard to tell with so much nausea and weird eating habits!) I am also due to go on a cruise holiday in June so a bit nervous about whether I'll be able to go 😅 the company say I need to have a letter confirming I'm not high risk, but I'm hoping it'll be enough to just have a letter confirming dates and that we're healthy (provided we are healthy...) the week before. Would be interested if anyone else has experience of high risk/pregnant cruise as both are new to me!
I definitely notice I have to eat little and often to reduce feeling sick.
Currently on my way to my best friend's hen do and hoping I will manage but staying with a friend who lives close to the restaurant so I can duck out early if it all goes wrong!
I hope everyone is doing well and able to enjoy moments of peace in amongst the nerves/anxiety of the early stages 💞

Durhamgirlie · 10/05/2025 18:25

I’ve hit the 8 week mark today! 🥳 Midwife appointment and early scan are both this week and I’m so excited!

Currently enjoying the lovely weather we’re having by sampling all the non alcoholic drinks. Keeping hydrated with mocktails 😃

Would the cruise company even know you were pregnant if you didn’t tell them? Im sure as long as your travel insurance know you’d be fine?

Hi is anyone struggling with urination?! I’m going to the toilet so much and even when not feel I need to. Been to docs twice to rule out uti!

UNICORN1589 · 12/05/2025 08:33

Yep...weeing past myself but no UTI. I have been the same in previous pregnancies aswel. I have booked a private scan tomorrow will be 7+4. Last time we went is when we found out our last pregnancy was not viable so im very nervous but hopeful and as previous post said I am guarding my heart until I know all is ok, which probably wint be until baby is in my arms but if I can at least get some reassurance tomorrow it may help.
Good luck to all having scans coming up.

Eblackdog · 12/05/2025 12:43

Looking for a pep talk or reassurance. FTM. For background, I lost over 5 stone that I’ve kept off for two years now. I am 9w pregnant and I’ve gained 9-10lb already. Feeling so deflated (bit of an oxymoron!)

I have had insane nausea that comes on if I don’t eat every 2 hours (sometimes even less than that) and I believe that quitting vaping at 4w has contributed to this as well as the increase in hunger too.

I just feel so awful about myself and I’m too embarrassed to see anybody who doesn’t know that I’m pregnant yet as none of my clothes fit me and I’m living in floaty dresses (not like me at all) and leggings.

if anyone else experienced rapid weight gain in the first trimester previously, did this slow down?

88claire · 12/05/2025 13:31

Hello!
I'm now 10 weeks with my third. Very unexpected - my husband was on the waiting list for a vasetomy, condom broke and apparently the morning after pill failed!

Baby looking good but I have a subchorionic haematoma being monitored weekly.

I have a 7 year old girl.and a 4 year old boy. Here's to adding to the madness.

CheeryPombear · 13/05/2025 08:05

@Eblackdog well done with your weight loss. In the grand scheme of things 10lb is very little and you have still lost a substantial amount. Be kind to yourself. Your body is changing rapidly and no pregnancies are the same. Eating is important, try and pick healthier bits right now but if nausea and sickness is a problem just eat something.

I'm now 8+3 and the last few days the nausea has been less. Some days I'm feeling more confident as I go along and then others I start questioning as my symptoms are up and down. Boobs hurt more in the evening but still taking estrogen and progesterone so it's easy to say the meds are doing it. I'm still having a hard time believing I will keep this baby. Trauma is hard to get over. Good news my SCH has pretty much stopped bleeding which is a blessing. I'm booked into my first midwife appt next week but no scans booked yet. I'm back at work and that's keeping me very busy.

Sending love to you all

LemonMermaid · 13/05/2025 08:18

@Eblackdogi definitely gained weight quickly in my first pregnancy, looked like I was bloated for whole of first trimester. Never looked pregnant just a little chubby. Unlike this pregnancy I look pregnant already & I am only 8.1 🤦🏻‍♀️.

@CheeryPombearmy symptoms also seem to have calmed right down this week. My boobs are still tender if touched but not bothering me otherwise. Think it helps that I am already wearing a maternity/nursing bra.

UNICORN1589 · 13/05/2025 18:35

Just had a private scan to ease my nerves after last pregnancy was a miscarriage. Baby measuring 7weeks 6 days and a lovely heart beat.

Durhamgirlie · 13/05/2025 18:37

Aw congrats! It must be such a relief hearing thier little heartbeat for the first time 😍

houwseevryweekend · 13/05/2025 19:59

@UNICORN1589 Ah that’s fab news, must be such a relief.

Sorry I’ve been so quiet here this last week. I’ve had some stressful news and still not sure of baby’s status! My EPU had offered me an early scan at 6w+ after my last MMC so I took them up on it. They initially booked me for 5w4d which I thought was way too early though they said that was enough to see something. I asked it to be later so they then changed it to 6w3d which I still
thought too early but didn’t want to be difficult. At the scan they couldn’t see fetal pole (only gestational and yolk sac) and said it was just too early and I was measuring 5w. I knew there was no way I was that far behind as I got a BFP at 9DPO and prepared for another MC. DH and I spent next few days researching options for recurrent MC and what tests we needed to do. EPU booked me for rescan in 2 weeks.

I then booked a private scan 3 days later at 6w6d so we’d know for sure if no fetal pole. Well my sac had caught up to 6w5d and there was a 4mm fetal pole measuring 5w5d but no heartbeat…Tech said they normally expect to see a heartbeat at 4mm but it’s only a concern if there isn’t one at 5mm so I could just be a day early. The pole and sac grow at approximately 1mm a day. She also said it’s normal for the sac to measure further ahead than fetal pole - it’s only a worry if the sac measures behind or there’s less than 4mm difference between both. She did say there’s been a lot of growth in sac and pole in 3 days so that’s a good sign it’s speeding up rather than slowing down, but obv we are mentally prepared for the worst.

Private place booked me in for re-scan in a week. So once again I’m left with the uncertainty of not knowing and I’m so annoyed with EPU for such an early scan. Appreciate they wanted to provide reassurance and I value the free service. But if they’d scanned me at 7 weeks I wouldn’t have stressed at measuring 10 days behind in the first place and not seeing a pole. And there might have been a heartbeat too.

Next scan will be definitive as if still no heartbeat it can be diagnosed as a MMC so I’m just holding on till then, distracting myself. We’ve made our peace it may not work out after that horrid first scan but hold on to some hope this baby is just a a late bloomer. I definitely won’t ever do a scan before 7w in future if I don’t have any worrying symptoms. I still have nausea and fatigue but I know that doesn’t mean much.

Hope everyone else has had a less stressful time!

UNICORN1589 · 13/05/2025 20:04

Thanks. Its such a worry when you have been through things before or taken a long time to get here. I dont remember ever being this anxious in my first pregnancy.

Can totally understand your frustration at EPU and the horrid wait. Hoping for good news for you.

CheeryPombear · 13/05/2025 20:16

@houwseevryweekend I'm sorry you don't have answers yet. I am so anxious after my last miscarriage. It's absolute hell not knowing. Sending you strength and love.
