Hi!

Just thought i’d start a thread as I know a few of us have found out we are expecting! Would love to hear everyone’s stories to start us off as I know December feels soooo far away yet!

I’ll go first, I already have one child, he is 6 years old Smile Totally did not plan to have anymore once me and his dad split, I was one and done. However, years on met my current other half and I just knew straight away I had a change of heart. We started trying 18 months ago with negatives every month, later finding out there was infertility on both our sides. We moved in together January this year after deciding we would give IVF a try once we were settled in new GPs etc, only to find out we were pregnant! This came to an abrupt end 3 days later where we had what’s known as a chemical pregnancy. Absolutely heartbroken I had half given up, what were the chances we would fall pregnant again so soon after so long of nothing?

Well, here we are, after only 1 cycle later, pregnant again! Hopefully this time is different for us, it definetly feels different! Grin

Happy Easter everyone, how are we all doing today?

I'm finding it very stressful. We told our parents over the weekend with mixed responses from them.

I'm now 5+1, I've not tested since my official IVF test date and I'm super anxious I won't make it past 5+3 the same as last time I got pregnant. I keep asking my husband if he thinks I'm still pregnant but I don't want to test as it would break my heart if the tests were getting lighter.

I've got no symptoms to suggest this is going wrong but at the same time, minimal symptoms to prove I am actually pregnant just sore boobs, tiredness and the occasional cramps and dizziness. I'm not good at drinking water and I'm perpetually tired as a nurse so it doesn't really feel so much different.

I know I can't keep up feeling like this so trying to sort out some counselling and I have a scan on the 8th May which isn't so far away (but far enough)!

I hope you are all doing ok and not as stressed out as I am xx

Aw I’m feeling exactly the same! It’s my first pregnancy and I have no symptoms so I’ve been panicking that theres nothing happening down there but I read online that 5 weeks is the point that your body becomes used to the progesterone so the initial symptoms die down, but it’s before the point the hcg starts making you feel sick!

I think it’s pretty normal not to have symptoms at 5 weeks so Im just trying to trust the process!

At least you have an early scan to look forward to, and to put your mind at ease x

spttc · 20/04/2025 13:18

@Durhamgirlie I also have no symptoms only occasional light cramps or just that "feeling" if anyone knows what I'm on about. But no nausea or sore boobs etc. My first pregnancy that was successful I had zero symptoms at all until 8 weeks (maybe a bit longer) and on and off. Then I was violently sick until I gave birth 🤣 so don't worry it's coming 🙈🤞

spttc · 20/04/2025 13:20

@CheeryPombear my scan is also 8th of May. Agree it's not long but feels long enough 🙈

KT199 · 20/04/2025 13:23

Congrats to the ladies who have just found out!!

don’t worry @CheeryPombear and @spttc your in good company, I think a few of us have experienced loss and it does make these weeks seem exceptionally long and full of worry. I had a MMC in December so completely understand your worries and feelings. Fingers crossed we all have a different journey this time around.

Loum85 · 20/04/2025 13:28

Hi All,
just joined today, found out on the 8th of April we are expecting our first baby. We were told after my endo surgery we wouldn’t be able to conceive naturally and IVF was our only option. We had lots of discussions and decided we didn’t want to go through IVF and if it was meant to be it would happen. We were very shocked when the positive came up on the test, I still don’t think we can quite believe it’s happening. We are very happy, I’m just feeling very alone as we haven’t told anyone yet and I’m really struggling with fatigue. I’ve come on here for support and advice

houwseevryweekend · 20/04/2025 14:59

Hello all, and happy Easter! I’m due 28 Dec too like a few of you, 4 weeks today. This is my second pregnancy but the first ended in a MMC at 8 weeks in Dec 24. I’m cautiously optimistic and hoping this is a healthy pregnancy and we all have an uneventful time of it.

@KT199 i remember you from one of the TTC threads back in Oct! So sorry to hear you suffered a loss too but pleased you’ve caught again.

My EPU offered an early scan 6 weeks onwards after my miscarriage so will call to get that booked once I hit the 5 week mark. We would have done it privately if they hadn’t at 7 weeks as I don’t want to wait till 12 weeks to find out if it’s viable. Will anyone else be getting an early scan?

@Minky719 you just need folic acid and vitamin D and I’d recommend iron bisglycinate too if you don’t eat much red meat. I’m taking the seven seas pregnancy vitamin this time around as I don’t have much of an appetite so this guarantees I’m getting nutrition. But you don’t need multi vitamins if you can maintain a healthy diet.

Minky719 · 20/04/2025 15:07

@houwseevryweekend thanks! I’m vegetarian so will look into the iron bisglycinate

KT199 · 20/04/2025 18:00

Hey @houwseevryweekend im so sorry you went through the same, I also had a MMC at just over 8 weeks! Fingers crossed for a smoother journey this time! My EPU doesn’t offer additional scans but I’ve booked a private one for 7.5 weeks and I’m almost 6 weeks now so not too long to go.

There is a WhatsApp group if anyone wants to join, just private message me your number and I’ll send you the invite link 🙂

wishIwasonholiday10 · 20/04/2025 19:09

I’d love to join the thread too. I’m currently almost 7 weeks pregnant with my second IVF pregnancy, due 8th Dec. A bit nervous about my early scan on Tuesday as I haven’t had many symptoms yet but have started feeling more tired and getting some bloating.

Luckypinkduck · 20/04/2025 19:19

@CheeryPombear (love the user name!) sorry to hear you got a mixed reaction. Could it be there are worried about you? May be way off the mark but my mum adores her grandchildren but has said her first thoughts on hearing the news is always worry for her daughters.

Edelweiss2020 · 20/04/2025 19:31

Heyyy. Just about squeezing into this chat, positive test yesterday, EDD 30th December- i think - my cycles are all over the place in length so could be a little earlier.

My son will be 4 in June, I got my coil out 27th March and it's happened straight away! It took 9 months to conceive the first time around.

Been feeling sick for a week and a half so had been suspicious but didn't believe it until I actually saw the test!

Andddd now the anxiety sets in, woo 🫠 Glad to have places like this to share in the brain chaos that is pregnancy!

Lorna198 · 20/04/2025 19:34

Hello. I’ll pop in here :) Due 20th December ish. Only found out on Thursday so will contact a midwife on Tuesday. I’m 5 weeks so will argue with myself about paying for an early scan for a week or 2.

@Loum85 please don’t feel alone. The first few weeks are tough when no one knows. I’d suggest someone you really trust to tell if you do find yourself struggling or of course post on here!

Loum85 · 20/04/2025 20:11

@Lorna198 Thank you so much x

ChloeG84 · 20/04/2025 20:19

Lovely that there are some many of us due in December ☺️ Hope everyone is doing ok. Tiredness has hit hard today, I had to have a nap at my mums after lunch 😂, I’m 5w+1 today, EDD 21st December x

Happy Easter and congratulations!

I only had sore boobs and a bit of tiredness at 5 weeks so asked the midwife if I should worry and she said not at all - she’s had four and had lots of nausea with her two boys and none with her two girls apparently.

As it turns out, the nausea has now hit at around 6+3 for me.

I completely understand the worried feeling as I had a MMC last September after 2 years of trying, which we discovered at a scan at 11 weeks. I’m trying not to really let myself think this one is real (not always managing!), but we have booked an early private scan at 7+5 to either reassure ourselves things are progressing or find out earlier if they’re not. Will you have a reassurance scan given the IVF?

Other than distracting myself with work or jobs around the house and garden (and lots of naps) I’ve not found much else works with the worry.

CheeryPombear · 21/04/2025 09:24

Guys I started bleeding last night. I've not tested and if it looks like it's a full period I will but I can't face a negative test just now.

Phoned clinic, they're going to pull my scan forward but at 5weeks said they won't scan as unlikely to see anything. Just gotta continue on my meds.

I'm feeling very sad and exhausted with this journey.

I know deep down this could also be ok but it's hard to see the good side when I've already had so much trauma.

My husband is home today but I'm home alone for the rest of the week and dreading it as I don't know what I'm going to do with myself.

If you believe in a God please pray for us

Oh I’m so sorry you must be so worried. I pray it’s nothing and you get through it ok. My other half works away too so I understand how hard it can be when they’re not there for support.

Sending hugs and prayers 🙏🏻 🩷

Is it normal to have pains mainly on one side? I’m 6+2 today

Is it normal to have pains mainly on one side? I’m 6+2 today

It can be an ectopic pregnancy or a corpus luteum cyst (this cyst is harmless and will go away).
Do u have any other symptoms?

Loum85 · 21/04/2025 13:21

Only sickness, no shoulder pain or bleeding

Hi all, joining with cautious optimism, due 21st Dec so currently 5 weeks, and I already have a daughter who is very nearly 2.

Had a MMC last October at 11 weeks (baby had stopped growing at 8), then an early loss at the end of January. Now under the care of the recurrent miscarriage clinic and on progesterone - desperately hoping this is what I need for a sticky bean!

bingu · 21/04/2025 21:26

Loum85 · 21/04/2025 13:21

Only sickness, no shoulder pain or bleeding

It may be a corpus luteum cyst. Try speaking to the EPU regarding an early scan to confirm that it is not ectopic

blooshboon · 21/04/2025 23:08

Found out today - due 31/12, 13DPO period was due in 2 days. Having pretty bad cramps, and extremely bloated. Already mum to 5.5 year old 🤍
