Hi!

Just thought i’d start a thread as I know a few of us have found out we are expecting! Would love to hear everyone’s stories to start us off as I know December feels soooo far away yet!

I’ll go first, I already have one child, he is 6 years old Smile Totally did not plan to have anymore once me and his dad split, I was one and done. However, years on met my current other half and I just knew straight away I had a change of heart. We started trying 18 months ago with negatives every month, later finding out there was infertility on both our sides. We moved in together January this year after deciding we would give IVF a try once we were settled in new GPs etc, only to find out we were pregnant! This came to an abrupt end 3 days later where we had what’s known as a chemical pregnancy. Absolutely heartbroken I had half given up, what were the chances we would fall pregnant again so soon after so long of nothing?

Well, here we are, after only 1 cycle later, pregnant again! Hopefully this time is different for us, it definetly feels different! Grin

@Luckypinkduck I've told a few close friends mainly because I still can't quite believe it and I'm so anxious I need support which is basically me sending a test pic daily and saying am I still pregnant? Is the line darker? I'm driving myself insane. I also told my boss as she's been so supportive during IVF.

Planning on telling our parents at the weekend. It's such a miracle for us to be at this point that we want to celebrate any time we have.

Luckypinkduck · 13/04/2025 19:37

@CheeryPombear I always like the saying tell the people you would want to support you if anything went wrong. I would definitely tell my family if anything went wrong but I know they aren't very good at keeping secrets so it's likely they would hint to my son and he picks up on more than they realise!
I will probably tell work sooner as I am not sure I will cope with some of the planned travel.

What's everyone planning about when to tell people? My plan was to wait as long as possible, like 20 weeks but I am struggling already! Every conversation feels like I am avoiding saying everything on my mind haha. I have told my husband if I last another week I will be impressed with myself.

We lost a baby in the second trimester last year it was pretty traumatic, so we’ve told our parents for support, we’ve told work due to needing a lot of scans in first trimester but otherwise we’re going to keep it between us until 20 weeks and we’re not announcing on social media until baby is here 🫣

This is one of the reason we’ve told family/one close friend pretty much straight away. Still really early days but we’re very excited and I just don’t want the excitement of telling people to be taken away from me the worst was to happen.

I do think everyone is different though, I know my a friend who has been through a number of losses would would till after 12 weeks. Do whatever you feel comfortable with 🥰

@Nosejug im so so sorry you’re going through this. Sending you lots of love 😔

I'm in Ireland, so maybe not the same. But here you don't need epu. U can walk into any maternity hospital emergency dept and they'll see you, do bloods, scan etc (all free). Is it the same in uk?

In Ireland you do need epu for scan the hospital can't scan you they can do bloods etc but they refer you the epu for scans if they have to do it internally

Muddysocks1 · 14/04/2025 06:19

So mines definitely a chemical, just tested this morning and the second line is barely there. Clear blue digital still says 1-2 weeks but it’s good sensitivity so think it’s picking up really low levels. Feel ok about it, disappointed, glad I got pregnant (first time ever) but worried what if I cant again or what if it’s another chemical. I’ve long suspected thin lining/progesterone issues so going to ask gp about that but suspect they won’t be much use! They were going to start fertility investigations but bet they’ll say just try again now as I have got pregnant?

Hey all,

Reading all your comments has made me want to come on here and tell my story.

Me and my partner have been trying since September 2024. We fell pregnant straight away but miscarried in October. Literally negative test after negative test but this happened today...

Is this positive? I don't want to get my hopes up! I'm due on today just praying for a rainbow 🌈 🙏 🙌

Morning everyone!
Ive just got my first ever BFP at the weekend… clearblue 2-3 weeks!
Im excited but after reading this thread I’m anxious that there is still a long way to go.
Should I be contacting my Dr today? X

spttc · 14/04/2025 07:46

@Muddysocks1 I'm sorry to hear this 😔 on the progesterone - what's your cycle like? What day do you typically ovulate and how long is your cycle?

spttc · 14/04/2025 07:49

@ImHopeful2023 I had bloods taken and an internal scan done in emergency room during my miscarriage in the Rotunda in Dublin so maybe if it's just that you're anxious you need a referral but if it's active bleeding you don't. I don't know. They scanned me and did bloods in the emergency dept with no referral.

On my first pregnancy I told nobody until 22weeks 🤣 not a soul, not even my parents. I was blissfully naive back then as to anything going wrong so it wasn't that it's more i think that we liked having it between just us. It was first pregnancy and I was super slim so a baggy shirt and you couldn't tell. 2nd pregnancy was a miscarriage- I almost told my parents one day but held back, started bleeding the following morning. Was glad I hadn't told them as I'd have hated to tell them that the next day. This time definitely will wait until 12 weeks if possible I know when it's not your first baby you show sooner but see how I go. My goal is 12 weeks at least.

Muddysocks1 · 14/04/2025 08:16

@spttc I usually ovulate day 14 or 15, then 13 day luteal phase (used to be 11 but have really worked on lifestyle and supplements which has extended it by 2 days!). Small amount of spotting before period for a couple of days but not loads. So doesn’t jump out as a major issue, but I’ve had day 21 bloods between 25-35 so think that’s borderline? And uterine lining thickness only 2mm just after period on an ultrasound. Tricky that was last year and lining could be thicker now, but I have very very light periods. It’ll be interesting to see how much bleeding there is from this chemical actually, whether it’s a lot more than usual period or not

spttc · 14/04/2025 08:54

@Muddysocks1 yeh 13 day luteal phase is fine. Although with spotting before period that may well be progesterone. I have the same issue. Borderline luteal phase defect. I went to a consultant (the one I used in my first pregnancy) and she's super helpful easy going type person and she prescribed me progesterone no questions asked as she said it's no harm, your body excretes any it doesn't need anyway. Just so you know too you can get the exact same progesterone from online pharmacies for hrt if you find yourself unable to get it and feeling like you really need it. If you can go to a consultant I would and skip the gp. I paid my consultant €100 included consultation, she prescribed progesterone & also did day 21 bloods to check ovulation. Also gave me prescription for letrozole just to have aswell if day 21 bloods weren't good (they were good in the end)

🥹❤️🌈🙌

I got my 2-3 this morning. I also had a miscarriage in august. I found out I was pregnant on my would have been due date 🌈

laurajane07 · 14/04/2025 09:33

Congratulations!! I'm so happy ans so grateful but also so scared

spttc · 14/04/2025 10:15

Yeh tbh I think after you've had a miscarriage you are so aware it can just be taken away in an instant. So I don't feel the happy I felt on my first 2 pregnancies on this one tbh. I'm seeing it more as a potential for a baby than the promise of one. Another step on the path but not the finish line.

Aw congratulations!

I’m 4 weeks + 1 day and i’ll be 38 by my due date so we’ll be on pretty much the same timeframe!

I’ve not really had any symptoms so I keep wondering how I’m supposed to know I’m still pregnant but I’m refusing to buy any more tests at this point 😂😂

My symptoms have been cramps, sore boobs & peeing loads but thats its. I still have some tests left, but tryimg to refrain from testing daily and do every few days instead! 12 week scan feels like its years away x

CheeryPombear · 14/04/2025 11:13
