@microwoods that is probably it, yesterday I was just chilling out on the sofa at my parents', watching my little boy play and today has been full on. You've reminded me that even much later on in my first pregnancy I would get to the end of a working day and wonder whether I'd felt him move. He moved a lot more consistency by the time I could feel him at all though, so these little flutters are new for me.

TheBeesKnee · 26/12/2024 20:04

21+2 today and I felt a movement from the OUTSIDE for the first time 🎉 I have an anterior placement so this was very exciting!!

Zeeha · 26/12/2024 22:02

Hope everyone is having a lovely festive period. I'm 21 weeks tomorrow and at my anomaly scan earlier this week the sonographer saw my placenta is still on the inside of my cervix and up against my extended c section scar, so I now have a referral to a fetal medicine specialist consultant in 5 weeks and an additional scan between this and the normal NHS growth scans my trust provides to higher risk patients. Sounds like I may also need a MRI to check for accreta 😞. Praying my placenta is feeling adventurous enough to clear not just my cervix but my scar too, as the risk of bleeding when living so far from a hospital is a constant worry!

BrightGoose · 28/12/2024 12:00

I haven’t had my 20 weeks scan yet but it was highlighted that I might have similar issues at a quick scan I had at 15 weeks following a bleed. All I can say is that they will monitor you my consultant told me what the plans would be but I to am hoping mine moves too.

Beccaa123 · 02/01/2025 09:36

Happy new year everyone...the year of the baby 😁
My husband and I flew back to the UK for Christmas and spent time with our families, both sets of parents are excited for their first grandchild and made that clear. I feel a bit upset though because unless it was negative (it only gets worse, where's your bump, just waiting until, I didn't feel like that etc) it was all about the baby. There was no, how are you feeling, you're doing a great job. I don't know if I'm just hormonal, but combined with the lack of reaction from my brother in law and his wife it has got me down a bit.
We even took them for a scan at window to the womb and we got them to do the gender reveal for everyone, again excitement all round, but no one asked if we were excited.

Milliebean · 02/01/2025 09:49

Hello, I'm 20 weeks, I can feel baby moving so I know she's okay but I've been having spotting on and off in this pregnancy. It makes me so nervous every time even though all is well. I'm not sure what to do. Has anyone else had the same?

BrightGoose · 02/01/2025 15:27

You need to speak to the midwife if you are spotting in the second trimester as I was told it is unusual. I spotted at 15 weeks and went to the early pregnancy unit as they advised me to, to check for infections or placenta issues. I would 100% contact the midwife team

Zeeha · 02/01/2025 15:51

Hi @Milliebean definitely speak to your midwife or if they're not available your local service asap as they need to be aware and may wish to assess you. Do you know the location of your placenta?

Blossomofhope · 03/01/2025 13:38

Hey ladies, how are we doing?
I’ll start by saying I want this baby more than anything in the world and feel so grateful. But gosh pregnancy is not easy. I feel so exhausted and unable to do anything really. Last few days I’ve had cramps every day which after getting checked out at the hospital seems to just be ligament pain. I can’t wait til the baby is here! How’s everyone else feeling?

LeBonBon · 03/01/2025 18:42

Hi everyone! Had my follow up anatomy scan today after the disaster two weeks ago, and finally got a full bill of health for baby. Never felt relief like it, and we found out we're having a boy 💙 So grateful to be blessed with one of each.

Hope everyone is doing OK - for any aches and pains can recommend Aqua fitness classes aimed at mums-to-be, they really helped my hip pain with DD. I've started them earlier this time in the hope I can prevent it towards the third trimester.

Jess2826 · 08/01/2025 19:23

We had our 20 week scan today and we found out we are having a boy! 🩵 Hope everyone is doing well!

24CRZZNKKA · 09/01/2025 07:16

Aw lovely, hope you are keeping well.

I have my 16 week appointment today - I'm 19+5 🤦

20 week scan isn't until 20th Jan.

I was looking back on photos last night and I am the same size now as I was at 33 weeks with my 2nd 😬 and that wasn't small! Eeek

Thridtryforourrainbow · 09/01/2025 14:25

Hi everyone after finding out at our 17 week scan with the rainbow clinic we were expecting a baby boy just before Xmas we have today had our 20 week scan only for it to be confirmed we are actually having a baby girl. We have also been referred to Fetal medicine as baby head is measuring small and there was also a potential concern
regarding an area in the brain has anyone experience anything like this I have three children and have always been lucky to had straight forward pregnancies and scans. Thank you

tb4122 · 09/01/2025 16:33

@Thridtryforourrainbow I was referred to fetal medicine after our 20 week scan last week. They were absolutely lovely, the kindest and most compassionate people I've ever met in healthcare.

They will do an extremely thorough scan- I found it a bit unnerving because the consultant didn't speak at all during the scan, whereas the hospital sonographers have always talked me through what they're doing. They might not all be the same though, so yours might talk you through it. It doesn't mean anything bad if they don't though.

Hopefully they will be able to reassure you that the findings on your baby are OK. Hospital scans are not always the most accurate- for example I could see that way that the head circumference was measured was much more accurate on the fetal medicine scan.

I hope it all goes well for you, try not to worry, they are extremely thorough and kind in my experience.

Rainbowsunshine81 · 10/01/2025 17:17

Hi, hope it's OK to join? I'm due the 19th of may. We had our 20 week scan on Monday, having another little boy. They told me that the placenta is completely covering the cervix and something about placenta veria I think. I've been referred to the fetal medicine unit next month.

Zeeha · 10/01/2025 22:55

Hi @Rainbowsunshine81 do you think what they said may have been placenta previa? This is when the placenta covers the cervix as you described. I'm due the 9th May and have this too. Fingers crossed your placenta moves up!

Rainbowsunshine81 · 10/01/2025 23:05

@Zeeha I spoke to someone from the fetal medicine unit and she said the placenta seems to be completely covering the cervix and also vasa previa where the blood cells from the placenta pass near or over the cream. I'm going to see a consultant who specialises in placentas. I'm hoping that it does move up. What has been said to you?

Zeeha · 11/01/2025 21:50

@Rainbowsunshine81 at my anomaly scan just before Christmas they said my placenta is covering the internal os and is also against my scar. The sonographer tried to check some kind of blood flow measurement but wasn't able to, so that will need to be checked for again later. I'm not really sure what that was all about, but it was when the probe was very low down where there is likely scarring.

My scar is unusual and weakened, as it's extended bilaterally from my daughter being stuck in my pelvis during the emergency c-section. I tried asking for further details such as measurements as I often see people mention this, but the sonographer said they wouldn't be provided at an anomaly scan. She referred me to fetal medicine and explained I may require a MRI as they'll wish to check for accreta.

I have a private scan next weekend so I'm hoping that'll show some movement in the four weeks since the anomaly scan. My appointment with the fetal medicine consultant is two weeks after then and the first of the additional NHS scans is a further two weeks on at 28 weeks.

Please keep us updated on how you get on 😊

Rainbowsunshine81 · 12/01/2025 08:17

@Zeeha I'm pretty sure when I had my son the placenta had become stuck. At the scan the sonographer asked me if I'd had any problems with my c section scar, I can't recall any, but that will be one of the questions I ask at my appointment at the fetal medicine unit.
I think they were doing the blood flow measurement aswell to and from the placenta. I'm definitely going to ask about the acreta too and ask about this vasa previa, like if the placenta were to move up, what would that mean for the vasa previa.
Hopefully when you have the private scan it will have moved up for you. I'm wondering when I have this appointment will I have a scan on that day and then how many will there be.
I'll keep you posted, please let me know how you get on too 🙂

BrightGoose · 13/01/2025 11:12

I just had my 20 weeks scan (21weeks) and we are having a little girl. My placenta has moved away too which is good hope everyone is ok

Rainbowsunshine81 · 13/01/2025 13:42

@BrightGoose At my 20 week scan they've said the placenta is completely covering the cervix and something about the blood vessels crossing over the cervix too. Was your completely covering or partial? Im at the fetal medicine unit next month. Congratulations to you 🎊

BrightGoose · 13/01/2025 14:03

I had a quick scan for a bleed at 15 weeks and they said my placenta was low so I had to wait for my 20 weeks scan to confirm it’s place but it’s ok now

Rainbowsunshine81 · 13/01/2025 14:27

@BrightGoose That's good that's it's moved for you. I hope mine does too.

Montelukast · 14/01/2025 12:56

Hi all!
20 weeks here and very excited!
however I’ve feeling quite overwhelmed at the moment.
just found out gender as well which I think I’ve found overwhelming for some reason- even though it’s the gender I’ve said all along it’s going to be. I think something about now I know baby’s name is like - very real?
starting to feel physically quite pregnant and I’m finding following over in bed, getting out of the bath harder than before.
I don’t feel like I have many women around me that I can talk to about all these feelings etc.
I am okay and excited and everything it’s just … a lot ?

how is everyone else feeling ?

BrightGoose · 14/01/2025 16:24

I get it it is quiet overwhelming at times balancing resting and working and cleaning and the other children can be exhausting. I’ve found buying things for the baby is helpful seeing more baby stuff in the house is making me everything feel abit more settled as we didn’t have anything from the other two but again sometimes it just feels too much.

hopefully you will start to feel abit more settled soon.

anyone know when they are going off on maternity and my holidays renew in April and I have like 7 weeks to take so that would take me up til my section date but I don’t know if I should take them all before mat leave.
